...but one of the first steps seems to be Sega ditching the console video game business to focus on what it considers the areas of biggest growth, mobile and online PC games.

Sounds to me like they'll be focusing on more casual (F2P?) games. I guess for a struggling business, they're looking to cut costs by not having to pay licensing fees to release games on the console platforms. I guess it's much cheaper to develop for mobile and PC and simply let the digital distributor take their small cut of each sale.

Strange because IMO the online market is already saturated. I don't imagine much growth there. There are already too many competitors and too little quality and content in F2P gaming. But if they are to make a F2P game finally worth playing go ahead, but I don't imagine that they're aiming very high.

I'd take a HD remake of Rad Mobile and Daytonaaaaa, Lets go Race, Lets go Race!

I would guess that they're thinking more along the lines of farmville type online games, many mobile games can be made to run in a browser so they might be thinking of making games that work on both. Of course the mobile game market is crowded too but development is cheap so maybe they're going to take the shotgun approach.

Aside from a few RTS games, what popular games have they even released in the past 8 or so years?

I seriously think if they mad ea new open world shenmue game and released it on pc, with full modding support that it'd do extremely well.

Shenmue on pc!

Did they ever make the 3rd one?! Pissed me off the DC died right after the first one came out and they had just said it was going to be a 3-part trilogy. I never got an Xbox, so I never got to play the 2nd one. Pretty annoying they never continued it on other platforms other than the one port to the original Xbox.

I'm not sure it would stand the test of time now though. It was an amazing game when it came out, but I think it would be pretty mediocre for today's standards, and I'm not talking about graphics either. I'd hope they would get new voice actors too, lol.

We collect rings in 2d, then we collect rings in 3d, then back to 2d. How about do something other than collect rings?
