I read that 7 will recognize if the C drive is a SSD and disable defrag but it's showing up for me and currently shows 8%.

prefetch and superfetch both were not disabled automatically either.

Even more odd the drive was RAW when I installed 7 and I did not notice until now it did not allocate 100MB for system reserved.

Is that 100mb partition a big deal or not? I have all files on a HDD raid array so reinstalling 7 would be quick.

Is the drive on a direct AHCI connection? Normal to still see it, just leave it out of the scheduled pool.

It doesn't and fits in category of just leave it alone.

Either another drive was present when loading and/or it was not the first boot device.

No, you just need to find where it went (other drives).

A word of caution, please study the KISS principle and then stop over thinking things, you currently are exhibiting all the classic signs of a fiddler who will break things.

Dude, you dont know him or how he operates.
He is asking questions to further his knowledge.
Thats as much as you can determine, unless you are looking for how to slow his development.

Op
Win 7 should disable auto defrag.

Did you copy an old windows install to an SSD or did you perform a new install?
If you still want to defrag manually, your choice :)

I would suggest you take your own advice, you don't know me nor have you read and understood the OP.

Read the OP again and you would see the signs why he has issues and that he did a install, not clone. Noted the signs for you.

Original build by me had twin 250G RE3 drives in raid1 and vista 32

Wiped the RE3 drives and changed ports, SSD on port0.

SSD was raw and fresh installed 7-64 on that drive, raid1 was later set up again through RST.

Last two 7 installs I had drives in the system but the C drive automatically made the 100 system reserve but not this time.

Both prior 7 installs were to systems with a HDD, not a SSD. Not sure if that was a factor or not.

The RE3 drives on the system are hosting drivers, music, system image etc.

If I had to redo it all I have a copy of all files/drivers ready.

Should mention the RE3 drives were not plugged in thus it was only 1 drive, SSD that had no partition on it.
Can't explain why the 100mb partition was not created like the prior two times.

Maybe I forgot but do you have the manually create the reserve?
