FrozenCPU Shuts Its Doors

She really shouldn't be making statements like that on the FCPU page. First of all, is she or is she not his wife. If she's not, that's lie #1. Secondly, how does she know that "they all quit"? Was she there? Did Mark tell her? Or is she making this up too? Lastly, if your name is associated with an escort service, don't post it up online regarding such a sensitive subject. In the modern age of information, someone's bound to get vetted and its looking grim as far as how factual her statement is. I would really like to hear a non BS response from Mark. Something official as far as to what's going on at FCPU..

Orders are not being shipped. The rest I give absolutely ZERO fucks about. That is their drama not mine (or anyone else's for that matter). Unless anyone specifically asks for help, I don't think anyone unrelated to the matter should get involved. My .02

You just can't make this kind of shit up.

At the jump I was interested in the future of Frozen, now the crazy speculation has made this better than fiction.

I just hope someone can resurrect the business.:D

Geek soap opera literally is what we have here :D

Couldn't agree more. The mods over at OCN seem a little too overzealous to be honest. I'm starting to like it over there less and less.

OCN hasn't been the same for years ever since the big forum "upgrade" and mod overhaul, its a teeny bopper drama Call of Immature Frag Fest nowadays, I finally gave up after I got into an argument with Enterprise over it

We will open this back up upon request and have seen some actual facts or something resembling journalism.

FrozenCPU.com will not be taking new orders or processing pending orders for at least the next 30 days. We currently are attempting to hire new staff to get things moving again. We apologize for this inconvenience. - Mark Friga Jr.

OCN was going to the dogs long before that. It really started around the "OCN Professionalism Initiative"...at which point basically the entire mod squad quit over night, and they needed to rapidly get replacements.

Okay, TLDR. I've always liked FrozenCPU and used them when I could (or remembered).

Two things struck me while reading/skimming this: first, they asked us to "bare with them"??? Really? That sounds, um, a bit too open for me. I may "bear" with them, but that's another thing. Juxtapose the requested "baring" with the escort service issue, and we have some intersecting lines of...something.

Seriously, though, I hope they re-open. They always came through for me.

Ken

I've never shopped at Frozen CPU. That said, it's sad to see a computer parts e-tailer fold. It reminds me of ZipZoomFly.com folded.

Kyle, you may want to update the first post of this thread since it has an older update on it from 2/10/15.

I guess it is nice that they finally updated the site, however unless you knew that you were to be looking for that you wouldn't even notice that there.

Personally think it should be something more in line with being a pop up or something in bright bold letters at the very top of the page. Right now you would go to the page, miss that at the very bottom looking for something then get confused when you wouldn't continue during the checkout process.

This is unfortunate for everyone involved, customers, previous employees and the owner.

Yikes... I hope that doesn't mean they're just hanging onto the money of customers who have already placed orders.

Yes, that's what it means. Otherwise they wouldn't have "pending orders".

Which it sounds like they are doing. They deserve to have their Paypal and credit card merchant status revoked if they think they're going to get away with holding on to customer's funds for 30 days with no product shipment.

Well, it could mean that they won't be charging the credit cards, but the order itself will remain active in their system until they're able to fulfill it. They would charge the customer at that point.

Man I had just placed an order with them before all this stuff went down, always like doing business with these guys, hope this does not tarnish their reputation.

Still unacceptable. Unless items are on backorder and the customer is notified promptly, you can't keep orders in limbo like that.

The proper course of action when all this went down would have been to take down the website and refund all the orders that they knew they weren't going to be able to fill. This whole situation was handled so poorly I have 0 confidence in FCPU from here on out. For all I care they should shut down permanently because I'm never spending money there again.

I hope they are able to recover. I always liked FrozenCPU.

I guess I should have been more specific, I placed and received my order before all this went down, best of luck to FrozenCPU.

Oh, I completely agree. They should simply cancel all current outstanding orders and send an email to each person explaining the situation. Once their system is back up and running they could then send out another email to each person letting them know that they could resubmit their original order if they wish. Leaving outstanding orders hanging like that is not the way to handle this.

What made FrozenCPU great to deal with was the support from the staff. I can buy the parts from other e-tailers. Time will tell if the new staff can meet the standards set by former staff. Judging from the way this whole situation was handled, I'm not optimistic.

Minimum they are obligated do is release the credit hold(s) on all pending orders or give you the option to cancel/wait. That is just basic business 101. Doesn't sound like anybody with business experience in in charge at this time. Not good.

I disagree. Leaving the orders in (without charging the cards) means that when they start processing orders again they will process in a first-come, first-served basis. Just give those people the option to cancel their order and 15-20% off their order.

I might be wrong, but I thought I saw a few people say that they were charged for their orders, but nothing ever shipped.

Could be, but keep in mind that a lot of people confuse pending charges with actually charged amounts and flip their lids prematurely.

Because people are ordering shit expecting it to show up promptly, not expecting radio silence. FCPU could have come out of this relatively unscathed if they just shut their site down up front and stopped taking orders immediately, but they let the freight train run wild and have probably irreparably damaged their reputation.

I don't care to argue with you about this I'm simply clarifying to the person I responded to that just because people claim or believe they've been charged doesn't make it true. this comes up in nearly every thread on so many forums about credit card orders it makes me wonder if people either don't bother looking at their statements frequently or flat out don't understand how their banks and creditors work.

Doesn't matter as there is a credit card lock on those funds effectively making them unavailable for the buyer for other things. Its a hassle getting those funds released but not as much as trying to get an actual charge back.

So apparently people need a bit of credit card usage 101

temp holds generally fall off within a day to a week
it's up the credit processor, not the merchant (a 3rd party, not FCPU)
if your purchases put you near your credit limit the "hassle" consists of calling your credit card customer service number and asking for a temp limit raise or in this case they'd likely just remove the temp authorization

in the past this has taken me about 2 minutes from dialing the number to hanging up my phone
I use discover, amex, chase, citibank, and my credit union. YMMV and HTH those of you struggling with this topic.

I know you want to act like your the smartest and all but credit cards holds may last as long as 30 days, depending on the issuing bank. Look it up.

I paid with paypal and never got a shipment. Paypal is going to reimburse me on the 26th. I don't have ANY pity for this place.I don't care how long, how nice, etc... If you take my money and don't ship my product then shame on you. I have run a small business myself, customers come first.

I might be wrong, but I thought I saw a few people say that they were charged for their orders, but nothing ever shipped.

I was charged via Paypal, but then once that's out of the ordering process I think it's pretty automatic.

I have initiated a claim, hoping to hear back soon.

I was charged for my order (02/09/2015), it shows up on my bank history as completed. So they definitely have my money, already contacted the bank, and they are investigating this transaction.

Um, this is the very definition of one's reputation being tarnished. This is much worse than a CC hack, like what happened to MonoPrice a couple years ago. Hell, there were rumors on the owner, Mark, being jailed. I guess he isn't if he is allegedly e-mailing and posting updates about FC's status.

Don't worry consumers forget very fast. How many times has Sony been hacked and people keep coming back for more?

Bit of a difference between Sony and a small independent operation like this. This is the kind of thing that can put a small business out of business if the word spreads enough, which it looks like it has.

One big question, why did all of the employees quit simultaneously? Don't know how many people that was, I doubt it was more than five if that many, but that's just not a good situation and there's going to have to be some accounting of the events here if FPC is going to be able to function going forward.

Not only that, they are well known for treating consumers and customers like trash. All of their products are purposely sabotaged in one way or another in typical Sony fashion. But for some crazy reason people still purchase products from them.

I buy playstations after like 3 generations of revisions and used; otherwise, fuck sony products. I had way too many things fail weeks after warranty. They work great until they're not covered anymore. Probably coincidence, but I have choices, so I choose to avoid them.
