Microsoft is promoting a Bing it on Challenge. You can do five blind web searches on the term of your choice and see if you like Google results or Bing results better.

I took the challenge and found I liked four results hits better from Google and one of the result searches as a tie.

Some marketing campaign for Microsoft eh? Embarrassing since I chose the competitor in a blind contest! :D

What do you guys think?

It could also be a sort QA test to look at all the searches where people chose google and analyze how they can improve their own search.

I've tried it a few times and always found google to be better. Although, I use duckduckgo as my default search.

Google - 4
Bing - 1

And what's with the Bing Rewards??

Always been a google fan. Don't see that changing.

Bing 0
Google 4
Undecided 1

No surprise. ;)
I've tried Bing before....never liked it.
If I couldn't use Google, I'd probably use DuckDuckGo.

Bing provides results that Google often times does not, but that doesn't mean they are better results. I often will use Bing if I'm not finding what I want in Google.

I don't like that test because Google also provides info on the right of the page and it didn't show up on the comparison. Either way Google won.

You mean claro search the virus?

I like google and bing and dogpile (old multi search engine here)

I cannot believe Microsoft is still running that. That has gotta be a ploy just to get people 'using' their search engine so they have hits to their search engine even if they are not not real.

I just had my co-worker test -- they all favored Google to varying degrees...so how is the contest results favoring Bing - if every single person I know who's tested this likes google?

lame

Slightly off topic - I've never even heard of DuckDuckGo. I wonder if this is the cycle of things. I remember not hearing about google before back when it was in beta (1999ish). It was clean, fast, and gave good results without ads. Now look at it. It's still fast I suppose.

I did the bingiton challenge and I got 1 draw 3 google 1 bing

I've actually migrated to Bing. But this has more to do with my paranoia about one company having too much information about me.

Between Gmail and G+, they already have enough, I don't need them keeping up on my search history as well. Of course, all these organizations could just be selling this data to each other anyway, so I'm probably screwed.

I've been using Bing on and off because my Verizon Blackberry requires I use Bing, and by default windows uses Bing and it seems to revert back to Bing on the occassional patch or upgrade. Inevitably if I can't find something in Bing I type it in Google and it's a hit within the first couple links.

I can't believe how bad Bing is, or rather perhaps, how good Google is.

I don't think bing is bad because it is similar to other search engines, it's just that google is so much better, though I have had google's personalized search exclude results because it thinks I want different result, so I had to use an incognito window for google to give me the results I wanted.

For the last 2 weeks I've been trying Bing out every time I need to search. Figured I'd see if I could earn another $5 Amazon gift card Search terms have been mostly photography, film, and Caffenol development related. Bing works for generic searches where I'm looking for information for the first time. Bing doesn't work for super specifics where I want to match a handful of search terms all at once. Even worse when I remember phrases or specific words from website, and I can type a big string into Bing and it won't find the site. I can confidently rely on Google to have what I'm looking for right near the top of the search results.

Google won. 4 out of 5.

I'm changing my default Chrome search back to Google. I can't handle Bing any more.
