FrozenCPU Shuts Its Doors

The whole jail thing might be un-founded rumor, but the videos and pictures and failed shipments speak volumes.

Funny you think the BBB actually matters for anything. Maybe you should contact Santa also to get him off the good list while you are at it.

Nonpay take longer than a few days. You would need to go about 1 - 2 months without paying for them to get shut off, if they were shipping out items just last week or the week before than they were up and running (and thus one can assume paying bills) till then. Also while not in all places, many places don't actually turn your service completely off but put it on a temporary block at first meaning that when you call you don't get a message that the number is no longer valid, but that "the number you are calling is temporarily unavailable" same type of recording you would get if the circuits where down or something else caused a temp lack of service. Which how quickly they went down and the message, I would have to say that somebody actively called to cancel the services.

I also wouldn't recommend large numbers of people start calling the police station.
I'm 1 for 3 in my complaints to BBB. So there is a chance of getting satisfactory closure to a complaint.

So someone spammed me in a PM asking me how he'd like me to comment on "I want to get your opinion about a new cooling parts store".

I am tempted to forward this PM to Kyle, do not appreciate being approached in this manner.

He PMed me too. Not a newcomer, either!

Well I got one too. Guessing someone is monitoring this thread and PM'ing those who reply in this thread.

Big deal.
If someone has an idea, I'm glad to supply input.
It really stressed me to reply.
You can always ignore it.

Anyone get anything through to the better business bureau? My order that is still in packing was on a credit card so hopefully getting my hundred bucks back will go smoothly

BBB can't help you if there is no business to contact. Only way is through your bank or maybe small claims court?

yeah b of a online dispute asks that the expected delivery date has elapsed (which i never received because it is in packing) so cant do that. then it says "Without an expected delivery date, we must allow 15 days from the date you were billed for the merchant to ship the merchandise. It is necessary to wait until 02/27/2015 before we can assist you." Not that it's a big deal. probably get the same response over the phone. but just so you guys know what the process might look like

The BBB helps by threatening to lower your imaginary rating on their website if you don't provide a satisfactory solution. They don't actually have any power if the owner / company doesn't care. Think of the U.N. being forced to write a very angry letter scene from the "Team America" movie lol

Damn no edit lol.

Credit card company or bank charge back is definitely the way to go for anyone who placed orders recently. Can be a slow process but better than losing the money outright.

At least as of today, there is a little teeny sentence under "news" that says their not accepting orders at the moment.

A sad day indeed. I've bought plenty of mod stuff from them (colored rivets!), and was just about to make another purchase, as they seem to be the only place that carried (and regularly restocks) Lian Li case parts and accessories.

I also remember when the original (and awesome) Xoxide shut down, and it looks like MDPC (the non-sleeving part) is gone, too.

Xoxide.com never closed down you effing newb.

People the BBB cannot help you, EVER under any circumstance. The BBB is a freaking joke organization it has no authority, all it does is con businesses out of $400 a pop.

Contact your credit card company and tell them to return the money and explain the situation they will have no problem doing it.

It was a while ago but the original owner sold off all the stuff and pretty nice discounts then sold the website. After that they were just a drop shipping website. They may have since then started stocking inventory again, not sure.

Hrmm... so you're saying the notice from 13FEB that my order had moved to the packing floor might not have been accurate :p

Unfortunately, that's probably an automated thing as soon as the payment is cleared.

From what has been said/posted/rumored, it may be a while.

Yeah, went ahead and pushed an order copy through sidewinder... will get with paypal to cancel the FCPU transaction shortly. A shame, I've been getting DIY stuff from these guys since ~2000.

Just curious, does anyone know how large Frozen CPU was during its heyday, in terms of $ sales per year? Or what fraction of the size they were compared to say Newegg or Tiger Direct?

Some estimate the inventory is worth $5 millions.

Now, more news, I've been speaking with the eCommerce provider, they put up the message, so no news from FCPU yet:
> Last thing, did you guys post the notice on the homepage, or has someone from FrozenCPU suddenly given sign of life?

That was by us. We still haven't heard from Mark.

Wow must be that bad that their ecommerce provider stepped in. At least the website is still up and running for the time being.

Wow it's about time somebody did something!!!
Is there any proof this guy is even alive!!!

Well, I was the one who posted this, and later got a confirmation from End Point that they closed the site. There's just so many posts at OCN that not a single one bothered to read them.

There you go, if you want the full discussion, edited names out:

E-mail 1 from End Point:
I see that you are hosting frozencpu.com's ecommerce website. There are rumors and evidence that FrozenCPU has not been fulfilling orders for the past two weeks. However, the website was left enabled and still taking orders. Are you able to do anything out of this situation?
Thank you for writing to us. We just found out about the problems FrozenCPU is having at the end of the week.

We are a service provider to Mark and his business, but the servers and software are his. Because of that we did not feel it was proper for us to intervene in his servers and ecommerce business, and we hoped that this was some short-term problem that Mark would pull out of.

We have been trying everything to get a hold of Mark or any of the possibly remaining employees. We have not had any contact whatsoever, and as time passes it's looking like this is not going to be a temporary problem.

On Friday we shut off all the FrozenCPU payment methods other than credit card payments, because credit cards don't capture funds till shipment, so those can at least be canceled.

Tomorrow we plan to shut off all ordering unless by some chance we hear from Mark.

E-mail 2 from End Point:
However, credit cards seem to be charged before shipment as is the case with my order. I am filing a dispute with my credit card company today.

Oh, that is unfortunate. I'm sure you won't be the only one having to call your credit card company, then, since we're still not hearing anything from Mark at FrozenCPU.

I'm sorry for the trouble, and wish you speed in getting the charge reverted.

E-mail 3 from End Point:
It turns out the credit card company gives FrozenCPU 30 days before they go through further proceedings in my case. It looks like there's quite a bit of people in the same situation as I can see on forums unfortunately.

Oh, that's too bad.

Last thing, did you guys post the notice on the homepage, or has someone from FrozenCPU suddenly given sign of life?

Sounds like Mark has a Yahoo-hosted eCommerce website as well... http://www.heatsinkfactory.com/
I bet End Point isn't a service provider for that one, right?

Nope. In fact I hadn't ever heard of that one myself.

Sad - reminds me of the last days of Monarch Computers. One day they were there and then suddenly...gone.

xoxide had a going out of business sale, ran out of almost all their stock and was then bought out. IIRC it never closed down but they did run out of almost anything I was interested in during their going out of business sale.
