DC Vault 2

OGR-28 apparently got added last night which has dropped us to 5th place. For some reason we didn't show up as having a team. I am in the process of getting that fixed as we do have 4 people that have contributed to it so far.

OGR-28 is worth 243.90 points per position right now. It may be worth dropping some cores too for a bit.

Edit: Correction... the points are still screwed up and they are going to have to investigate further. This blip bumped us from 4th to 13th which is incorrect. Waiting patiently as the points per position should be much lower than that....

OGR28 is around 30 pts per position, we are rank 98 which should be around 7030 pts...

We have Vault points for OGR28 now. That brought us back up to 5th place.

Well... I got a Dual core Optiplex 360 here at work that now has RC5-72 and OGR-28 running via the DNETC client. Time to see how it runs...

Well... I think they either block the ports or the IP's for OGR-28 here, so only RC5-72 is working on the Optiplex 360 for now...

Edit: since that box can't pull/report OGR-28 work, I will just leave BOINC on it for now. I may attempt Muon1 on it in the near future. I can still support RC5-72 through Moo! on it since it has an 8400 GS in it...

Well..since I can run RC5-72 via Moo!, I decided to run Muon1 on one core and give it a shot for a bit. Seems to work OK per the setup guide NickOfTime wrote http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1817322.

Does RC5-72 via MOO! give you GPU options Or is that only available using the Dnetc Client?

Currently Running
Poem@Home OpenCL 4x290x
GPUGrid gtx660ti, gtx690
OGR28 - All Cpus not being used by OpenCL/Cuda.

Now that my X5670 is up and running, I'm adding POGS into the mix for WUs with low memory requirements to offset Rosetta and NFS. Once I hit some personal goals on those two, I'm switch over all 20 threads to POGS for a while, hopefully that will speed up our overtake of BOINC@Poland and get that spot back...

Looks like FAH stats are screwy.. hopefully it corrects itself tomorrow.

The OGR-28 work is paying off. We are only a few small points away from taking 4th place back.

Does OGR-28 work done through Yoyo count for DC-Vault?

No. It looks like yoyo creates a custom email id which it associates to the yoyo team, so we can't have the yoyo points associated to Hardocp like Moo! , which uses your email from boinc signup.

Anyone else want to join me at it, the next 30 ranks are still with fairly easy grasp :)

Thanks for the reply, NickOfTime. I figured that was the case. I may install the app soon on one of my rigs. I just need to figure out which one...

Yeah... the only project that would double dip was Moo! and so it will not be added to the DC-Vault because of it. So, all OGR-28 work ran through YoYo (BOINC client) will only push our standing at YoYo just as PSP & SOB through PrimeGrid (though PSP was recently pulled from the Vault) only push our position with PrimeGrid. Muon1 through YoYo only pushes our standing with YoYo, so if you want your Muon1 contribution to really benefit us at DC-Vault, you should run its client. Those points are worth more than YoYo points are for DC-Vault standing.

@NickOfTime, what kind of resources are you using on OGR-28 and are some of your nodes dedicated? Is there a place similar to Free-DC which shows how many days it takes to overtake each team?

I found the following:

Thanks.

I just threw 256 cores on OGR-28 and moved the nodes off BOINC. I'm hoping they help get us DC-Vault points quickly.

Code:
node25: 32 : Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2680 0 @ 2.70GHz
node26: 32 : Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2680 0 @ 2.70GHz
node27: 32 : Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2680 0 @ 2.70GHz

node29: 32 : Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2690 0 @ 2.90GHz
node30: 32 : Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2680 0 @ 2.70GHz
node31: 32 : Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-4640 0 @ 2.40GHz
node32: 32 : Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-4640 0 @ 2.40GHz

I'm making the assumption this is you, have you joined the team yet and just waiting for the stats to associate? http://stats.distributed.net/participant/phistory.php?project_id=28&id=507671

Yup, I ran "dnetc -flush" yesterday manually since it hadn't automatically uploaded any of the completed work units. I guess it waits until its cache is empty and then flushes? Someone requested my password and I got an email saying so. :( I went ahead and set up my account and plan to join the team shortly.

We lost a spot at SAT to Gridcoin and DPC is about to pass us too.

Wow... we jumped up 8 spots in OGR today... that gave us a rather large boost. 238.691968 points

Oh yeah!

Since BOINC has SID problems on my netbook, I put OGR on it. I know it isn't much, but it gets me on the board and puts that thing to work. :D

Well we took back our lost spot from Gridcoin at SAT and we continue to chew through OGR for some nice point accumulation. Keep up the good work guys.

Oh... and my netbook has finally got me on the board at OGR ;)

For those looking for some suggestions on how to help:

Easy positions for BOINC client:
Asteroids - at least 1 spot would be easy but they have had server issues. Just do your best. Both CPU and GPU
Numberfields - at least 1 spot as DPC is no longer hitting it heavy.
SAT - we aren't that far behind Gridcoin but they are consistently running the project where we only have a few.
POGS - at least 1 spot would be easy
Constellation - at least 1 spot would be "easy" as long as you can pull work . They have had major server issues lately.
YoYo - 1 spot would be somewhat easy
Enigma - a few spots would be relatively easy except that there are multiple teams around us with consistent RAC's higher than us. We would need to keep production to a certain level to maintain position.
Cosmology - multiple spots that would be relatively easy.
PrimeGrid - we are on pace with taking another position soon
POEM - we are on track to take multiple positions soon.

Easy for non-BOINC
OGR - we are currently chewing through these spots thanks to brilong and NickOfTime

I've been PM'ing Travis at Citizen Science Grid. I am waiting to hear back on if this is the batch size to consistently expect for Subsetsum. It is still early since he just released the work, but currently there is ~ 20k work units to send out. They have been running stable and I plan on making a BOINCStats challenge with it when he says he is ready. That way we can see what the masses think before I give the thumbs up to Rusty. I encourage others to give it a shot too. They don't have a lot of DNA work on a regular basis but with Subsetsum, that may keep rigs busy. He is supposedly working on getting the Wildlife work units ready soon too.

I got a response from Travis about letting me know when he is ready for a challenge to be posted. This is what he said:
Very cool! We have one thing that needs to get done before a big push -- we'll be moving the server over to a virtual machine on some better equipment here (which will solve some of the DNA@Home problems). So I want to make sure that migration goes through without issue before stress testing things.

SubsetSum@Home has the potential for pretty much unlimited workunits (at least until we disprove the conjecture with them, or someone proves the conjecture). Batches increase somewhat exponentially depending on the max value (M) and the subset size (N) as you can see here:

http://volunteer.cs.und.edu/csg/subset_sum/progress.php

So with M = 50 we'll be generating in batches of around 28k. M=51 will be 3 batches around 56k, M=52 will be 3 batches around 112k and so on.

L'Alliance Francophone steam rolled us today at Primaboinca. They are doing a unified push there to try and be #1 for Formula-BOINC. Currently, they have over 2million PPD RAC going. NFS is their backup project if Primaboinca runs out of work.
