Dell U3415W discussion - 21:9 UltraWide (3440x1440)

are more people experiencing the color difference? (right and left side of screen) best viewed on a white background.

thingking of getting a replacement
On white background there seems to be a slight difference. But since mine barely has any bleed/glow or dead/stuck pixels don't really feel like returning it. Doesn't really bother me.

Hey, does anyone have a link to a review that mentions lag on this one? I'm curious how it compares to the LG flat and curved respectively. My googling came up empty.

ima keep mine even tho it has some blb and color difference. will get it replaced later this year with a refurbished one. did this with my dell u2713hm aswell. got a beauty from it.

Does anyone know if this monitor mount supports two U3415w's? http://www.amazon.com/Ergotron-45-2...sim_pc_10?ie=UTF8&refRID=0CCTWW86CC37CGFN1C09

It seems like it would work fine for two stacked on top of each other, but i'm not sure if it works side by side. I will definitely order one if it can handle both.

I'm not sure it has the reach out to each side to handle the width of 34" ultrawides. I'm not sure there is a single mount that could do that right now...

If you can wait a bit for it to ship this is on sale at Office Depot for $60. The arms appear to have the same extension and also the same weight capacity limits.

I'm thinking the monitors will be too wide (based on an Amazon reviews saying that dual 32" monitors is pretty much maxing out the arms) but it will be close since to make the curves match up you will be angling them a bit and I would assume the bezel is smaller on the U3415W in comparison to any 32" monitor I have seen. At full price I'd be cautious about picking it up without knowing for sure but at $60 I would give it a try.

You're faced with 2 issues. One the length of the arms and the weight of both monitors. In this pic below, it's 2 individual LX arms about 90% extended. I don't think you'll have the reach to put two 34" side by side using a single mount unless they'll be V-shaped positioned. The second issue is the weight. The dual arm appears to use the same base as the LX and therefore would not be able to support 2 34" monitors. A single LX arm is almost maxed out with 1 34" monitor.

Any new deals or upcoming dell promos on this puppy? Ready to purchase but would rather not pay full MSRP ;)

Try contacting a Dell rep and linking them to this thread. Ask if they can match the ~ $920 price that some of us were able to get a few weeks ago.

Thanks. Can you point me to the thread with this price? Checked the whole thread and couldn't find it.

I tried that a few days ago and didn't get anywhere. If anyone has success, please PM your Dell contact

The problem is that Dell has this 3-5 weeks delay for the past two weeks now...Might be waiting a lot longer for these to come back in stock.

I've been waiting since last week of Jan., and the date keeps pushing back for new orders now.

call dell business for starters. tell them you're looking into a bulk order and you'd like to grab one to try asap, and they'll (probably) expedite your order. they should give you $950 shipped before tax no questions asked. my rep did anyway. granted, i've ordered a ton of crap from the dude, so YMMV.

newegg also has it in stock as of this post for $1140.

My monitor will be arriving next Monday. Based on the U3415W user's guide, it mentioned that in order to get 3440 x 1440 @ 60Hz, I'll need a graphics card that supports HDMI 2.0.

I'm currently using a Gigabyte GTX 750 TI graphics card and I think the HDMI port should be v1.4? As I'm not into gaming, will I still be able set it at 3440 x 1440 @ 60Hz or I need to step down to 50Hz?

As I only uses it mostly for work & watch videos on the net. Will the 50Hz affect my overall experience?

BTW, are the text on the screen ultra sharp? None of the review I read mention anything about the text on this monitor. Thanks!

Your card does not appear to have DisplayPort, and does not have HDMI 2.0, so you will have to run at 50Hz.

I have a Samsung Series 7 Chronos 17" laptop with Intel HD4000 & Geforce GT 650M - my laptop has a mini displayport out, and I am typing this now at 50HZ @ 3440 x 1400 using the stock mini dp to do cable. Any reason I am not able to achieve 60hz? I can't seem to enable it in the options and I went through and installed the latest Dell Display Manager, etc.

Thanks! So will I feel / see any differences by between 50Hz & 60Hz?

It depends entirely on your sensitivity to it. Some people feel it, others don't.

If you're going to be gaming, then it will likely become more pronounced to you.

I am debating between this and the LG model, anybody have an nopinion?

IMO, Dell are the best layout compared to the rest. For the most part, all the back I/O ports face down, not perpendicular to the monitor... so you can actually mount it flush if you wanted, and no worries about breaking ports, since they aren't sticking out the back. They are also symmetrical, not some weird teardrop shape.

Plus they look and work great, and have much better customer service if you should ever need to use it.

As with all widescreen monitors, the better they are, the bigger chance for BLB. It's all luck on what you get, and your tolerance to such things.

Rumour from a retailer in the UK that Dell have pulled these from sale because of Panel issues. But it might just be in the UK market because no retailers have ever had a single item of stock so far! I did order 1 from Amazon UK but it seemed to come from Germany because it had a German plug. Dell UK are quoting May 1st for delivery.

Latest rumour and I repeat rumour we heard is DELL have pulled it from sale due to their being some technical issue with the panels and there is no update as to specifics or when to expect stock.

Been using this monitor over the ROG Swift, mainly because i'm lazy but also because input lag and response time doesn't feel that bad, even at 60 fps. Also seems better than the LG 34um95 in input lag and response time, which I returned. My subjective 2c.

That doesn't seem all that likely. It's still sold elsewhere, the rest of Europe seem to have the same lead time (estimated date around the 25th Feb for most places), and dell have always been perfectly happy to continue to sell A00 while A01 filters out through distribution.
More likely demand was simply higher than estimated (for both curved displays, given they use the same panel) and it is taking a while to produce more.

These Dell's have sold out like crazy, it pretty much means they've set the price too low.

There is/was a work stoppage at the ports on the west coast.
This may be affecting your ship dates for monitors from Asia.

Would be interesting to find out where the panels are manufactured and if they are on a ship anchored off the shore of California.

i was rather trying to imply, that there might be a global reason at play here instead of localized ones. be it production quantity or production quality related!

Just received my Dell U3415W from Dell Canada this morning. It's a A01 revision!

Long time lurker... rarely post but I wanted to share some information with everyone regarding this monitor.

I placed an order with Dell late January with an estimated delivery of 5th of March. After waiting a few weeks I decided to purchase from Amazon. Received a A00 built October 2014. After attempting to cancel, my Dell order shipped randomly last Friday. I received it yesterday and unboxed it and it's a December 2014 A01 model.

Side by side, there are a few readily apparent differences.

- Back light bleed is almost non-existent.
- IPS glow is softer in corner and not really a big deal to me.
- Color seems really, really good compared to the standard setting out of the box from my A00 model.
- Buttons on the touch sensitivity are better and more responsive to me.

Looks like Rev 00 is going back... plus I noticed that I lost warranty coverage from October to Feb when transferring warranty. F that.

Edit:

I am almost 100% positive there is something different about this panel. I can't quite put my finger on it...

As far as back light bleed, there is slight in the top left and bottom left. IPS glow is present, but not really that bad. Toning down the brightness to about 50 and upping contrast to 80 dialed things in nicely for me. I am quite pleased.

Thanks for the info. I'll have to check mine, but I think it's a RevA00. I think I'll try and get it replaced since the BLB is quite noticeable.

Very very interesting indeed. Mcklain can you confirm this? Maybe someone can post a BLB test picture for the A01 please? :=)

I am at work ATM but as soon as I get home I will get back with my impressions.
