Or Rockstar was wanting just a bit more time to pad between releases to truly 'triple dip' on sales.
Honestly I hope it turns out awesome. I've been avoiding purchasing any version out of principle. I knew Rockstar wanted to tripple dip on sales, and I was not going to contribute.
I keep seeing this tripple dip idea thrown around, and it really puzzles me. Sure, there are likely a handful of people who will triple dip, but I think it's going to be an incredibly small number. They are probably going to lose more in sales from people who are butt hurt about the delay than they are going to gain by people buying the game three times over.
Look around you... how many people do you see saying "oh well, I'll just buy it on PS4 and then on PC later"? Nobody? Chances are the majority of the people who want it on a console have it by now. If you know you want the PC version, why is it so hard to just wait patiently for the game to release? Quite a few people are doing to double up simply because of the amount of time that went by with no talk of a PC release or any indication that a current-gen version was coming. But really... if you buy the game three times, it's your own fucking fault.
the same people defending GTA5 are the same people who a few weeks back raged against anyone who even hinted at the game getting another delay...seriously look back a few pages (or in another thread)...they gave Rockstar the benefit of the doubt even after their strangely worded press release somewhat denying any further delays...it was obvious then that another delay was coming and the writing is on the wall again for another lackluster port...I mean all you need to do is look at GTA4 PC
what makes anyone (except the same people who defend everything) think otherwise?
Max Payne 3 was a phenomenal port. Looked great, performed great, had very few issues. GTA V is using that same engine. Being that the groundwork has been utilized very well in the past by R*, I see no reason why they wouldn't build on that experience and be able to do the same again. Also, I've seen rumors that the same team that ported MP3 is also responsible for porting GTA V. If that's true, that only further strengthens the idea that it's being handled by a team that's very familiar with the engine on PC and very qualified to get it running at it's best. GTA IV was a shitty port. It also came out six years ago. Maybe it's time to get over it?
I also don't get how a delay is writing on the wall that it's destine to be a shitty port. Lots of games get delayed. That's life. Just because it needs more time to be right does not mean it has to be shit no matter how much time that goes into it. Furthermore, if your concerned about the quality of the port, it's pretty easy to just not pre-order the game and wait and see what happens. You literally have nothing to lose by just being patient and seeing what happens.
EDIT: Reading back through the other thread, I also don't see anyone raging at anyone who hints at a delay. I see people raging over the rumor of a delay, and I see people countering that it really shouldn't be a big deal if it's true. What am I missing?
