Dying Light - zombies, 4-player co-op

Considering the Length of my opinion I would not bother if the game was shit. SO TLDR: What the game seeks to achieve it achieves VERY WELL. Its not a look at the pretty colors game but Watch me chop this zombies head off then jump over this zombie tackle this one slide kick this one into an imediat leg slice with my sword then stand up run up a building jump from 4 stories roll and do it all over again. The combat is so fucking fluid it makes the game.

My honest opinion. The game Doesnt look all that great. Its satisfying enough though so this is a minor point. One good thing It looks like the trailers do.

The lighting in the game is amazing. Considering that the entire game is based on the light cycle It should be. The Dusk looks like dusk the dawn looks like dawn and the night is dark as shit.

The Volatles, or "nightmares" as they are called by the scouts (other npc "runners" like you) are killable. I chased one just as it started turning into day to see if i could kill it at lvl 7 or so and was able to after about 20 hits. Once you get to old town and get some serious damage items I was able to kill them in about 3-5 hits with a 700dmg machete.

NIght time is Incredibly fun and entertaining. at low levels it is very difficult to manage but gets esier as the game progresses
.

The final boss fight is a Quck Time Event. and incredibly disappointing. and Considering the fact that other "boss" fights are not makes it seem like it is just to piss us off.

The missions become a chore towards the end. Actual story content was a sort of side note to the game. Im assuming due to the massive detail in the night system and climbing mechanics

Climbing mechanics are great and I would say 98% of the environment is climbable. However when you reach those areas where certain objects you could climb in other parts of the game are not climbable at that one spot it gets kind of annoying.

With that being said Its a minor nitpick and That best part is the "parkour" well other than the zombie dismemberment.

The first time i sliced a zombie in half FROM TOP TO BOTTOM!!! I was sold I literally pulled out my sword and swipe he seperated into two pieces with one half of his body on one side and the other half on the other side of me. Then another runner game at me and SWOOSH there goes his head. He walks around for a moment with blood spewing out of his head. So good.

There are MASSIVE packs of zombies that are really fun to wipe out and provide great loot. The powerstation has a horde of close to 150 to 200 zombies. I lost count after about 70.

There are fast moving zombies as well and the game does a great job at the beginning of making it not worth the trouble to fight them. In the beginning stages Causing things to blow up or using a weapon. Alerts them and the come running. So you run. They can take out half your health in one hit if you are caught of guard.

All in all if you are looking for a good zombie killing game that has an amazing climbing mechanic this is great. Most of the buildings If not all of them are accesable. Some require ways for you to reach them.

Some have said that the Hookshot takes away from the parkour element but I disagree. You unlock a hookshot that lets you travel great distances. There is a slight cool down so it is not spammable if you are trying to escape so use those 2 charges wisely. The volatles can cancel the hookshot if you they hit you which adds to the fear of night.

The game is not super long but Its hard to really tell due to the fact that I played the game for hours on end.

The crafting is very well done. Not having to repair/ create at a workbench is a plus. There are a lot of

The blueprints seem to give the weapons a different look. Every weapon has its own feel to it so every shock blueprint doesnt just add a batterypack and wires. There are also blueprints with 2 effects that give an even greater variety to the blueprint upgrades.

Dont waste your upgrades on weapons. They become more scarce once the game goes on.

One other thing NICK PESTO! Look out for him in the trunk of a car. Hes hilarious.I want him to follow me around the whole game.

Really enjoying this game, Co-op is a lot of fun, but when do you unlock the Old town map?

I ran through the game so fast I can't remember what mission was right before going to old town. I think it may be at 50% story completion.
I got to the finale yesterday but opted to cancel and just do some more side missions.
The film guy at the repair shop is fun, you have 2 minutes to kill 40 zombies with a shotgun and 2 minutes to kill 60 zombies with a military rifle (full auto rifle).
I'm going to go back to him tonight and see what the next challenge is.

I have this cool sword with 1300 damage, that thing is awesome. try jumping down onto a zombie with a bladed weapon and attack as you jump down.

The mission where jade runs away. any more detail will give spoilers. You go into the sewers. Once you get to the mission it pretty obvious that you will be reaching old town soon.

K thanks guys. Just did the mission where you have to scale the bridge to get the Sonar equipment or something...was getting vertigo lol.

Anyone having a visual bug with SLI and flashing refresh/scan lines visible the higher the frrame rate ?

Runs great for me now unless I enable crossfire then I get weird shaky vibrating object crap. Sound like its more or less a known issue. Still near the beginning but it reminds me a lot of difference between Dead Rising 2 and 3. It's like the took the core fun of Dead Island and just ran with it. The characters are far less obnoxious, the movement is just stupendous again like Dead rising 3 they made getting from point A to point actually fun instead of a chore. Thats the most important part of getting these sandbox games right. Looks gorgeous if a little brown. A lot of people complained about Dead islands graphics. I never got that. dead island looked amazeballs to me.

I struggled at first having shit weapons but thankfully they basically just throw crafting at you right away which is nice.

What I don't really get is they don't own the rights to Dead Island or the engine anymore right? This is Dead island with a facelift how can both companies being putting out essentially the same thing at the same time?

Finale was a pain, died a dozen times or so.

I was running that aggressive zombie mod as well.

I think this is one of the few games that doesn't require internet that I would definitely say NOT to pirate, along the lines of Skyrim.

Zepher is a pirate!!...sad...that's why it's so hard to take a lot of people who complain about PC performance seriously...you never know if they are using a pirated copy or have issues with their own system

I think with the lack of demos available its always an option for trying a game out, but lately I've been just buying all my games. If I don't think a game is worth retail I almost always just wait for a sale. There are however some companies still trying to sell games for $40-60 on steam years after they come out. They can eat dicks and I don't feel bad at all for them having pirate issues.

I find it hard to believe that people pirate games just to try them out and end up buying them if they like it...pirates are pirates...so someone will pirate a game, play the first few levels and then decide "hey this game is amazing I'm going to buy it for $50"...looking at Zepher's last post he was talking about the end of the game...so he played it till the end...meaning he must have liked it...meaning he continued to use his pirated copy

moral of the story...if you use a pirated copy, don't take a screenshot proving it :D

True his decisions are his own, thats why I was trying to rib him that he should go buy it, besides multiplayer in Dying Light is pretty awesome.

On topic does the atmosphere and sound kind of remind anyone of Stalker? I could swear I heard a guitar in the background while I was roaming around.

I was near the Train depot just kind of monkeying around. While I was on the roof of one of the buildings I thought "Goddamn this is just like Stalker only I can get on top of all the high places I never could!"

I don't see it? Where?

The profile name in the top right "RLD!" is RELOADED mark for torrents. They usually put that as the profile names in games, if the option is available.

EDIT: lol he changed it. BUSTED! :)

Anyway has anyone tried the new patch 1.3 specifically for the 970 GTX? I stop the automatic install because people on Steam were saying it made performance much worse for their 970s. Anyone on here with one try it yet? I don't want to mess the game up as it is running pretty good for me right now and I am about 75% done with it.

Stupid question, but I cant seem to figure out how to change throwable items. I have firecrackers, moltov cocktails and ninja stars but can only throw the cocktails. I cant figure out how to switch between the items. Maybe I'm just having a brain fart.

There are actual 4 different profiles names you could have depending on which scene group crack you use.

This is one of those instances where the game is good enough that I will be buying it... once it hits the $30-$45 price point.

I got it at $45 on gmg the day it came out if its not discounted still it should again in a week or two.

Got it yesterday for PS4. Pretty cool so far. I like the detail it goes into with melee weapons and such. This is definitely a game I am glad I'm playing on my PS4 instead of PC. If I had a top of the line uber end PC obviously I would much rather play it on PC but given my system I think PS4 was the way to go for me.

I'm running it on a GT70 with a GTX 770m and it runs quite well on a mixture of high/medium settings for me. Haven't checked exactly what my framerate is...but I haven't noticed any slowdowns.

That owning is real. :D:D

Anyhow.. for people who have beaten the game, how long is the story mode? I will put in some more time this weekend.

Doesn't matter how long the story mode is, the side-quests are actually far more interesting if you can believe it.
It's about 6-8 hours worth of story content if you do nothing else.

EDIT: lol he changed it. BUSTED!
I'm not the OP but, who cares?
The only game I've purchased in the last 10 years is Diablo 3 and its expansion.

Yes, I was using a non licensed copy of Dying Light since there was no demo and didn't want to pay $60 for a game I don't like. I was also playing with a trainer and I am not sure how Steam likes the use of trainers with their service.

I did buy 2 copies of the game so my brother and I can play co-op and as well as multiplayer.
