ASUS today announced RT-AC3200, an AC3200-class tri-band wireless gigabit router that is engineered to overcome the Wi-Fi performance challenges of today’s multi-device households. It provides two concurrent three-stream (3×3) 802.11ac 5GHz networks plus a separate concurrent 802.11n 2.4GHz band, enhanced with Tri-Band Smart Connect technology to automatically maximize the performance of each connected device. RT-AC3200 also features ASUS AiRadar with universal beamforming, adaptive Quality of Service (QoS), AiProtection with exclusive Trend Micro™ security and the brand-new Traffic Analyzer. RT-AC3200 has outstanding performance and coverage, and is the ultimate choice for complex home networks with multiple devices using a mix of older and newer Wi-Fi standards.

My wife would think it was a spider and smash it. Sorry, but that's just dumb. Make the box vertical and put the antennea's internally!

Starting to look a wiiiiiii bit ridiculous....

And the USB 3.0 is still on the front for some stupid reason.

Would still like to see a comparison chart between this and the ASUS RT-AC87R.

Doesn't do much since there is not much if any support on the host's end. In other words most devices are not wave 2, not really wave 1 compatible for the benefits. Personally, if I was to buy a new SOHO router I would wait for the Media-Tek's new 800MHz quad core (http://www.mediatek.com/en/news-eve...ireless-connectivity-with-its-new-mt7615-soc/). I think that will have Padavan support from what SDK's they are using and router they are supporting. This can be a very good SOHO router because of it. Even if it is wave 2, I rather get a MOAR CORES and MOAR ANTENNAS router.

Order it now from ASUS's facebook page!

I've had very little luck with any 5ghz or AC. Could just be my Samsung Devices though. Range is just crap. But probably just me or something in my environment causing issues.

Needs moar antennas

I am holding out for 8 or 10 antenna 802.11ah routers. Like razor blades.. the more the better

Like Apples AirPort garbage? Internal antennae are bad, they should always be replaceable.

To tell you the truth, I got an airport extreme because my nighthawk and other brand routers just loved to have random DC's. Since switching over last October, not one "blackout" and the range is fantastic. Hard to believe, from that little white square with no antennas sticking out.

I did have good luck with the Cisco routers years ago. Netgear ones are still pretty good.

mass production underway in Q3 2015

Um...

My AC68U was junk, I had 2 of them, and I would get constant disconnects 2 feet away, and 15 feet away. Connection was always unstable and slow. My RT-N56U is faster and more reliable. I will be staying away from this asus junk also.

I've been very happy with my RT-AC66U. Good range and little to no problems with drops.

Even have a Linksys media extender connected over the 5ghz band to provide a connection on the other side of the house where it would be tough to run a cable. Solid 877.5 Mbps connection. Been connected for at least the last 3 months without a problem or reset.

I use that as my primary router- works wonderfully with ~25 devices I have at home. Merlin custom fimware might help things since it is extremely well built and stable.

Considering I'm on my 5th RT-AC66U due to hardware failures I don't care if ASUS puts 30 antennas on it. I'm not buying any more networking devices from them. Merlin's software was nice though.

The sheer size if that thing and they only managed to get a 4 port switch in there!?

If I brought that home and said this is our new wireless router, the first questions I would be asked, in order, are:

WTF is that
Why is it so big
What are all those things sticking up
Why are they there
Why so many
and where am I going to hide it!

Besides that it looks like a new George Foreman lean mean grilling machine!

Just a friendly FYI: it is antennae not antennas

Other than that, I've no issue here. It'd be great if it actually resembled a spider laying on it's back, LEDs for eyes.

I agree with the above, they should embrace the spider and release a Halloween version.

That said, I'm pre-ordered for this one. I currently have the 68 as the main and the 66n as a media station.

Anyway, the automatic band allocation and hardware acceleration with QoS is what I'm looking forward. I'm tired of the questions about what band to connect to and our house is hitting its limit on everyone doing everything at once.

I understand the need for antennas, but can't they design a simple box that houses the components versus trying to make it look like a head crab or spider?

Asian Mecha influence? Get a few of them for WDS and so they can transform into the huge Routocon

NO, dear sweet fuck no. I don't want that shit in my house. Where the fuck do you even put something like that?

few options
- on a shelf
- on the wall
- hanging from its cables in the corner inside of a thread made web

Great, I'm sure that I need one as soon as they start selling PCIe and USB adapters that work with AC3200.

At this point unless you need a pair for a media bridge it's all just more marketecture.

Best wait until brain cancer therapy improves anyway. Sitting near that all day and you would be grilled faster than a George Foreman hot dog.

And my 6 year old DIR-655 just keeps kicking ass and only gets rebooted about 3 times a year. My POS Actiontek Verizion Fios router, OTOH, needs a reboot once a month just to keep on-demand TV running.
