DC Vault 2

Was their a project change in the vault?

It has us up to 3rd position and +14 ranks in Bio...
Mostly cause team Norway -4 positions and -17 ranks in Bio...

Looks like the points for Folding@home changed from 0.12 pts per rank to 30.31 pts...

I'm thinking the stats are just screwed up. It will probably fix itself tomorrow...

Looks like stats are back. We also moved up a spot in Leiden Classical. Good job guys.

We are neck and neck with Team Anandteck for 14th place in the Bio/Medical category. We are less than 1 point from each other.

Hmm, time to refresh my Summary... Looks like next BIO position change is GPUGRID in 16d for 7.11 points...

SAT@home is being added to the vault, so keep your eyes peeled for when it shows up. Those will be the next target for many since they will be easy points at first.

I see SAT@home in the list now but the stats haven't trickled in yet.

SAT@Home [H]ard|OCP 54 8,770.301624 (Up 8,770.301624 points8,770.301624)
This caused Ars Technica to pass DPC for 2nd place over all and dropped us 3 positions in the Miscellaneous category.

I uninstalled DIMES from all of my machines when I never got a response to any of my emails to them. It appears to me to be a dying project.

I've lost interest in this project. :(
The last time I rebooted by 4P rig I did not restart the Linux client and when I needed to reinstall Windoze on my daily driver I did not install the DIMES client or fire up my Xubuntu VMs.

So that Vaulters don't miss it, I have added two challenges for January to help stress test project servers for potential inclusion to the DC-Vault. This doesn't guarantee they will be add but rather give us a good idea how well the projects can handle extra load beyond normal daily operations.

http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1837739

I will be adding one more when I get our RAC high enough to issue the challenge...

Well NM on the Gerasim challenge.

I thought I would give an update on this one.

Permission not required.
But now is not the best time for the challenge. For the challenge will not be enough tasks next month.

Everything is ready for a server upgrade to the new version.
I'm waiting for the completion of the calculations of the current set of tasks.
At my request, E. Vatutin stopped adding new jobs due to the fact that the server not only needs to be updated, but also a serious check.

To do this, test program "prime search" will be installed + a set of tasks for it.
- about 10 minutes on the CPU or 2-3 minutes on GPU. Of course, participants will be able to choose which application to run.

As you noticed, now you may get 0 credit for 12 hours of the job.. rather disappointing, and it happens so often. sad

******
New jobs for application "Separator"(CPU) will be added no earlier than January 5-6.
*avg. run time will be reduced from 12h to 6h.

Best regards, project admin Serge Val.

We will revisit later when the admins confirm they are ready.

Okay [H] Commandos - I'm heading out in the morning for a flight with the family to Walt Disney World, and won't be online until the First of the Year. All systems are stepped down a notch to run a bit cooler for our house sitter, but they're full speed ahead on the WCG December challenge for the rest of the month...

So let me be the first this year to say -
Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, and here's to Moar [H]ard crunching in 2015!
(I know I will be - I got a surprise influx of cash from a forgotten investment, so I get an upgrade or two when I get back!)

We moved up another spot in Misc. category due to the easy points we are getting from SAT@home. Keep up the good work folks.

Right now SAT are the easy points to gain. In January I plan on doing some testing as well as hosting a challenge for two potential new projects which would also be easy points if added to the vault. My question is, should we try and do a combined push soon (January/February) on Muon1 (using their client and not BOINC) to try and gain a position or two? There are a few positions above us that are not active. However, we would have to do a major push to move up a spot.
8 Overclockers Australia is currently double our production
7 Russia is not active but has double our over all contribution thus far
6 Free-DC.org is not active
5 The Knights Who Say Ni! is not active
We also have some active teams behind us that have a ways to go for catching up, but they are putting up some solid numbers and outpacing us by a good bit. I have never ran their client but NickOfTime gave us a guide to follow. http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1817322.

Currently each position is worth 135.14 points.

Thoughts?

(before anyone asks, as far as I know this is CPU only)

Looks like Rusty pulled DIMES from the Vault today. This dropped us 6 spots to 17th in the Misc. category.

We are up to 27th place at SAT. Keep it up guys. We are currently 5th for RAC. We took 11th place in the Misc. category. It looks like we could go up to 15th place at SAT before we hit large point jumps between positions. If a few more of our big hitters jump on board we could probably make a pretty nice dent.

brilong is also practically single handedly holding off BOINC@Denmark at Malaria Control but not by much. We currently have the second highest RAC, but have a while before moving up to position 24.

The Convector stress test challenge has shown us that Convector has a supply/demand issue. As in, they can't supply the demands of a challenge. At least not presently. Their work units seemed to run fine though if you can get them. There is still a few days left in the challenge, so if anyone gets work and notices anything funky, please report so that I can add it to my summary at the DC-Vault.

SETI.Germany also just passed us at Numberfields. It appears they are hitting it hard right now. This put us in 12th place at the project.

I've noticed that I only get the WU's once per day. I will get a bunch of them on all of my machines around the same time each day (late afternoon/early evening) and then when they finish I don't get any more until the next day. It did this on both Sunday and Monday, so far. I assume this is just due to a shortage of WU's.

We took 10th place in the Misc. Category. That was a two position jump.

Free-DC took their 10th place back. Perhaps this will be a head to head for a bit....

Yeah... I was looking at the stats. Normally it is mainly me and Jathanis... lol

I have been hitting Moo! like crazy the last several days because Collatz has been down.

Yeah... I was looking at the stats. Normally it is mainly me and Jathanis... lol

Yeah, I have that old forgotten 4850 on my q6600 XP machine that keeps putting up a solid 60K ppd... Pretty good at keeping us in one spot, little gains, few losses... :D

We took another spot in SAT. Our next spot is about 1 million points away. We can't relax though because there are active teams pushing behind us and there isn't that much of a point gap. After we take the next spot, we have a long road ahead. So, we will either have to have major hitter show up to close that gap, take a long while trudging along, or focus on making up potential overtake losses elsewhere...

Anyone got any ideas on what they think we should hit for February? We haven't really had a focused DC-Vault charge in a while. I was thinking maybe covering some ground in RC5-72. For those not wanting to mess with their client, you can attach to Moo!. However, for those points to show up you need to follow my instructions here: http://hardforum.com/showpost.php?p=1040794811&postcount=1947

Running Moo! through BOINC means you can use CPU, GPU, and Android ARM devices. Our team stats at RC5-72 can be seen here: http://stats.distributed.net/team/tmember.php?project_id=8&team=24958

This is a good time to start looking at a new project, as I'm one day away from my 2 year badge on WCG-UGM and am going to switch my rigs over tonight to a few personal goals (Rosetta, Constellation) until I hear of a group push...I'm out for the weekend, but will be back and ready on Sunday the 1st to hit whatever the group consensus is!

We took 12th place in the Bio/Medical category from Seti.Germany today

I also spoke with Rusty in the admin forums and he said that they are working on getting OGR-28 added and it should be "soon".

We are also close to losing a spot in Constellation soon. We may need to add some defense for a bit or do another position push.
