Alright, i picked up a Acer aspire 5534 1096. when i first booted it up, it loaded to this blue screen.. then asked to enter current password.. So i took the old HDD out and put in a different one, it still says the same thing.. I got this dang thing from a thrift store figuring id be getting a deal.. had no idea it had this crap.. is there any way around this? really hoping i did not get screwed over..

the bad part is, i have the laptop tore down to the cmos battery but its soldered into the freaking Mobo >.> whats the next best course of action?

With some laptops and pcs there is a jumper used to reset the CMOS.

I found an article explaining how to do it for your laptop: here

Hope that helps!

alright i got the cmos reset.. now i booted it up and for some reason the amber LED light for it to charge wont come on and it says Harddisk security please enter password.. Gah >.<

alrighty so i was able to reset it.. now i tryed with my HDD and it kept stating it was missing something.. forgot what it was.. so i put the HDD that came with back in and now its asking for a HDD password.. id like to use this HDD since its bigger then my own.. however i put mine back in there and for some odd reason it wont let me install windows 7 but it will let me do Vista.. yet the machine is suppost to run on 7 atlest from what google says.. it kept saying it cant boot from disk Code 5..

Well got windows 7 on there finaly.. but for some reason when i try to download things like chrome or drivers.. or go to any website for that matter.. It keeps saying the security certificate is outdated and blocked access to that site.. so i click allowed and it loads the site but i still cant download.. is there any idea what to do to fix this? almost close to getting this t hing running.

Really? just having the time wrong can screw up the security certs? and i installed it twice.. so im hoping thats not it lol

Holy crap. you were right, the time and date was way back in 2001, thanks so much. i honestly had no idea something simple as the wrong time could make programs get all twitchy.. then again, the wrong ver of driver can do some major pain in the head to, thanks again!!
