Hit a WCG (World Community Grid) milestone? Post it here:

I think the CEP2's have a 12 hour limit. It has been a long time since I looked into them, but recall they didn't actually have to be 100% to be useful. YMMV.

CEP2 has a 18 hour limit. The hard stop limit was raised a year ago. I was able to run four units together on both my quad Ubuntu boxes. Both running old WD SATA drives. Stopped running CEP2 after 10 years. Had too many failing units when they switched over to the new library. Focusing on OET and UGM now.

Well for giggles I have 40 CEP2 units running on one box. This one does not have SSDs; rather is has 4x300GB 10K drives in a RAID5 (IIRC). When ~34 WUs arrived at once things got pretty ugly... but seems to have calmed down now.

Not sure about the 12-18 hour limits; however the application itself (and the WCG page) says the WUs have a deadline of 22JAN/10Days. System reports that these 40 have ~22 hours to go... so we'll see what happens around this time tomorrow.

fastgeek, what we mean by 12-18 hour limits is that they will only run for a total of 18 hours regardless of deadline dates. So, if the work unit crunches all out for 24/7, it will report back within 18 hours even if it is not completed. The deadline date kicks in if the system was say not running 24/7 or the work unit was paused for long periods of time.

Sapphire MCM - now on to a sapphire in UGM!

Are there any badges to go for after the two year sapphire?

CEP2 units will finish after 18 hours of CPU time. The deadline for reporting back finished work is 10 days. There is a unzip process that hammers your drives before tasks begin. It's recommended to stagger start times to avoid the disk thrashing. The thrashing will calm down over time as the units spread out. If you are seeing units run for days your disk drives aren't fast enough or you have other programs sucking cycles. Check for messages indicating the units are resetting themselves and look for heartbeat messages in the unit logs on your My Results page. The solution is to back down the number of concurrent tasks. I did not have any disk performance issues running 4 tasks on both my Ubuntu servers. I did have problems running 2 tasks on my XP box with a WD800AAJS drive.

Watch for the large file uploads. Uploads can be 80-100MB per unit. Your network connection may bog down if all 30+ units finish together. Another reason why CEP2 is a opt-in project.

Hey guys, just decided to swap my profile over to HardOCP as this team seems more active and engaged.

Are 'we' currently involved in project specific competitions or any coming up?

Bringing in two machines:

4x E-4650 Xeons
4x 6174 Opterons (Down right now CEP2 Killed its SSD over the last year)

Should give a little bump to the daily update.

Thanassos, glad to have you on board. Some of us bounce between projects, some participate in challenges, and some just stick to a project or two. If you check out the Challenges 2015 sticky thread here http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1837739 I keep it updated pretty regular. And if there is a challenge you want added, point me in the direction and I will get it done. We have threads for most things. I also encourage you to visit our Guides section. Especially this thread in particular. http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1801908

The first post here http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1783464 is also full of info.

And pay close attention to our team name. There is a hand full of projects we use HardOCP while the majority we use [H]ard|OCP. WCG is one of the projects we use HardOCP

Wow, I completely missed that I just passed 20 years MCM (now past 21 yrs).

Thanks TJ ! My 2P is set up to process MCM/UGM/OET, but I get almost no UGM (only Emerald) and we all know the situation regarding OET supply :)

UGM is set to a lower priority server side. So unless the que runs out of MCM, you wont get any (or at least many). MCM is actually set to a higher priority like CEP2 and FAAH are. That way the people that want UGM exclusively can get work. I hope this helps. (OET is set to the lowest, so when there is work for that, you may also find it hard to get any...) The only way to fix that is to exclusively choose the lower priority sub projects and then to check to run other work if none of your selected is available. You could try a Frankensteined app_config, but that would be a lot of work for something easily managed this way...lol

Good work guys on those WCG achievements!

January was my most productive month with WCG since I began Crunching back in 2011 (over 8M in points and just shy of 14K WUs).

You are most welcome. I have to admit that I've been a slacker as of late since I don't have any MP rigs running. Right now I only have my DD rig crunching GPUGRID and a few threads worth of WCG.

Wait.... have you been hanging around Patriot again? ;)

Well, we have to give Patriot most of the credit here - he did a beautiful setup :D

Good stuff 402. I'm looking forward to when they bring the Childhood Cancer II project to us and have many WUs done for MCM too.

Just went Silver yesterday on OET and pinching Ruby's behind today.

Also went Ruby in Beta with that recent deluge of OET beta work we saw last Friday.

Finally cracked 15M Boinc points under WCG only took just under 91 years of CPU time to do it.
