In Taiwan this past weekend, after an epic 3 day battle against human contact, a 32 year old gamer ganked his last Iron Horde when he succumbed to cardiac arrest and then collapsed dead on a table where he remained for hours because God knows if you can’t stop playing to even die, you can’t stop playing to notice a different guy died.
I just don't get this... at least they didn't let the corpse rot for 9 hours before realizing the guy was dead this time.

I honestly consider myself a hard core gamer, but after 12-14 hours straight , I'm incapable of carrying on, I don't care what items from Azeroth or weapon unlocks are on the horizon.

This is ridiculous

I stay up for 2 days in a row sometimes cause I can't sleep...

Internet café monitors are probably on full brightness and cause you to relapse.

I can barely play for more than a couple hours without wanting a break. Even if I'm having a good time.

Yeah this kid was probably drinking Monster energy drink the drug of choice for all international people who don't get Mountain Dew locally along with some Mollys or something.

Even something as simple as a Double Starbucks Expresso in the can can increase your Heart Rate give you a stroke or Heart attack.

Usually what these guys are dying from is:
1) Sheer exhaustion; with lack of sleep and everything the body just shuts down
and/or
2) Blood clots from sitting in the same position for hours mostly motionless
and/or
3) Dehydration... so easy to prevent!

It really is important to just take a break once an hour, go take a piss, stretch, look around the room to relax your eyes instead of focusing the same distance for hours, and drink some damn water!

Who puts starbucks double expresso up their ass? Caffeine enema in public... Or did you mean something else by "in the can"? :D

"He's the 3 time Tri-State over-14 ‘Thou Art Dead’ Champion. He once played for 4 days straight, on one quarter, a gallon of chocolate milk and an adult diaper. The man’s a legend."

Pssh thats how I start my workday.

No soulstone / ankh on this one i take it? Bummer. He'll have to run back. Clearly the rest of the raid didn't care.

Uhhhhh.....

Even though it’s only January, this is actually Taiwan’s second death for binge gamers. On New Year’s day another gamer checked out after a solid 5 day run.

5 days. DAYS. FIVE.
WTF

I don't even know how one would naturally stay up for that long. I wonder if he was using amphetamines or something.

The heart failure part is caused from a lack of electrolytes. I'm willing to bet that a lack of potassium/magnesium/sodium is to blame in each case especially considering that the death is cardiac arrest and that they're not eating anything.

Good Lord! I feel I may die from all the stress but these guys are dying from having too much fun? Wow

well, good! way better than dying because of mugging, torture, murder, etc. and about the time to realize he was dead: who cares, he is dead, is not like his family was intending to have him stuffed on the living room or some shit like that.

At least he went out doing what he loved. RIP in pepperonis m8.

3 days of non-stop gaming?...I would probably go blind before the heart attack

I've played for like a day I think. But I get up and get food, go to the bathroom, stretch a bit. So... yea.

But man, the writer is a dick. Soundslike he hates gaming in general, and is ecstatic to be able to make fun of gamers.

This thread is strangely appropriate. I'm just recovering from spending 49 hours on the Evolve closed beta, over a few days. I started getting heart pains this morning and while grocery shopping ( for nutritious vegetables ) my left calf muscle had severe spasm/ cramp, to the point where I had a limp. I joked with myself that at least my right calf muscle didn't go at the same time but after paying for the groceries, while in the parking lot, the same thing happened to my right calf muscle.

I would honestly be overjoyed to die from gaming. I mean if I could pick a way to die, it would have to be from either gaming or sex.

Edit: I need to overclock my body:

Get a life is what I would say. The longest streak I've been up gaming was a 27 hour streak with mates at a private LAN with hourly breaks in between because we were having fun shit talking, drinking, eating and gaming.

If you die from gaming you're a fucking amateur. Reminds me somewhat of the news story where some Brazilian kid was beating his salamy stick over 50 times in a row at night and died from a heart attack.

Dude, don't mess around be careful man! Dying while gaming may sound like one of the better ways to die, but dying in your 30s sucks some ass. Think of all the sweet games you'd miss, including all the sex-slave femmebots you can enjoy in your flying Cadillac at retirement.

I know excessive honing on the Monitor cause cause you to tighten up =) I had a EKG done after complaining about chest pains to the doctor too. Checked out ok could of been the Female Nurse that made it better. I had this same problem while drawing comic book characters hours on end with Leadholders and hard lead now I use soft drawing lead and Mechanical pencils.

Chest pain can be from anything including anxiety/stress/or a full barrage of potential mental illnesses including depression and/or GAD. Electrolyte imbalance or a deficiency can cause chest pains as well and can pair up with the mental illness part.

I almost died (heart practically stopped and I passed out, needed an IV for 2 days results came back as severely deficient in potassium/magnesium) from a potassium deficiency after being stressed out like crazy 7 years ago and it was caused from stress a long with not eating/drinking.

If you're going to game all day or for days on end do yourself a favor and at least eat plenty of fruits (they are fast food) such as bananas/watermelon/apples/berries/etc, and do calf raises on a step or on the ground to keep the blood circulating through your lower body.

Muscle cramps are usually caused by an electrolyte imbalance, bananas are known to fix that because they are rich in potassium/magnesium.

Also, if someone is addicted to gaming you should really look for a creative outlet to replace it at least partially. I used to be addicted to gaming but now that I look back at it, I was not really happy.

Humans are creators, if you're not creating something than you're probably depressed or repressing your emotions

I can't even game for 45 minutes anymore. How the hell do you do it for three days?

Leadholders?

Lead and Mercury are heavy metals * cue a rock song *

Do they really sell this stuff to people?

http://leadholder.com/

They replaced lead pencils with graphite penciles, in the UK, for school children ( because we all chewed on them, like chew toys, as children ). I remember asking a teacher in the 1980's why she kept called it a "lead pencil" and if lead was really in them, she said no but they used to be, but were replaced with graphite.

I know that those citadel minatures that people paint are made out of lead. It's so dumb honestly, people probably don't know to wash their hands with cold water.

I went to a firing range, for the first time a few years ago, in Canada. When I used the washroom, they had a sign that said wash your hands in cold water, since when you fire the bullet, there is a lead coating on the spent cartridge ( or something ) and powder flies out a bit. The instructor never mentioned any of this and if I had never used the washroom, I would never have known. The sign also read to use cold water, since using hot water would open up the skin pores and make it easier to absorb into the body...

After rubbing my calf muscle, which looked like Arnold Schwarzenegger's flexed biceps, I hobbled over to the sports drink section and got a mineral nutrition replacement. It didn't read that great but it was something. I ran out of fresh vegetables, so it was mostly chicken burgers, fries, convenience food.

I know you mentioned lead tape in your previous post but golfers also use lead tape to weigh down their clubs.

If someone wanted to be really cautious they could get one of those standing desks.
