The bulk of my home storage is from the linux based pvr: 3915 programs, using 6.6 TB (4 months 18 days 11 hrs 37 mins) out of 9.1 TB (2.4 TB free).

The next biggest item would be software development, then backups and then VMs.

I do not backup the pvr programing. I use snapraid (with 6 data disks and 2 external parity drives) to reduce the chance of total loss.

How do you "download" HD TV shows? and movies?

Are you guys ripping from Blu-Rays or is there a service I'm not aware of that allows you to stream AND download for offline usage?

NORCO RPC-470

9x4tb
1x6tb
2x2tb
3x1.5tb

NORCO RPC-4220

20x3tb

And maybe 40 TB more tb of drives that I don't have a case for atm, gonna get a 4224 fairly soon though

I'd say RAW before formatting just counting the drive stickers I would have 130TB in my storage rack

All in all I'm using maybe 40TB of media

I rip Bru-Ray copies from purchased media or download and store purchased digital content.

I was about to rattle off my various categories until I realized my old school External 2TB "NAS" hard drive is highly inadequate for this thread. I feel embarrassed with some of you peoples setups.

It's not a contest, there are others on here who would make us pale by comparison.

It's about organization, and/or structure of the drives that I'm interested in. It could be 100 10gb drives for all I care ;) I'm just curious.

Code:
[tim@nas pool]$ du -hs ./*
450G	./Applications
48G	./Documents
271G	./Downloads
76G	./Music
836G	./Other (Includes datastore for VMs, and backup of family computers)
15G	./Pictures
5.5G	./Sites
13T	./Video

You need to get some more hard drives

7 Terabytes if usable space. 4 used for movies, 2 for software and marginal amount for coding/lib sorting.

I have an external for music, 350gb out of 1tb.

I feel sickbeard (for downloading off usenet) is the best.

Here is my sickbeard stats:

Code:
260 shows (86 active) | 15848/24918 episodes downloaded

SickBeard is probably my largest sorted folder of Video but i have quite a few others:

Code:
root@dekabutsu: 12:07 AM :/data# du -hs sickbeard
23T sickbeard
root@dekabutsu: 12:07 AM :/data#

I need to setup SickBeard. Too much popular shit gets DMCA'd within 24 hours these days...

Media:
Code:
[vedran@sabnzbd ~]$ du -hs /mnt/array1
17T /mnt/array1

12x 4TB Western Digital RE (SAS version), RAID 6, in a CSE-846E16-R1200B, 36.3T useable.

I'm in a bit of a bother as I've put off buying some hardware for some time, and now with the euro approaching dollar parity, every week it becomes more expensive, instead of the usual tendency to get cheaper.

My 38TB storage server is full of mostly movies and TV series, preferably in pure Blu-Ray.

Some TBs are taken by music and music videos.

Lots of TB on individual drives are TV recordings from my ISP DVR box (all in one TV/DSL/BR player/phone) or USB DVB thingy.

I want to go to 100TB on the storage server with more rackable enclosures and more and bigger drives.

^--- HD capacity and price drop should take care of the euro/dollar exchange ;)
