The pictures we saw of this dress last week during CES really didn't do it justice. You have to watch the video below to really appreciate how creepy-cool this thing is.

That video was mountians of crap with nothing really shown. Perhaps one actually showing fluid articulation? Or did that not exist?

The dress provides an extension of the wearers intuition: It uses proximity sensors as well as a respiration sensor to both define and protecting the personal space of the wearer. Approach the wearer to aggressively and the mechanical limbs move up to an attack position.

Cool, I'll wear this the next time I have to ride the subway or get into a cramped elevator.

cool! Imagine using it to collect fruit on trees or something other useful work.

This is the dumbest thing I've read all day.

The whole 19 second video, didn't really do much justice. Lol or maybe it did and the dress is really that lame.

They should put strobe lights on it and market it as a Halloween costume or somethin.

Problem is the fatties that will try squeezing into this thing and then strutting around like "everyone just ignore the trainwreck passing by".

If you've been to ComicCon or seen the pictures well you know what I'm talking a out when I say the words "three hundred pound 'Catwoman'" or "Kalisi XL" it's enough to make you weep.

What is with videos these days that are meant to present/show something off and they just have to constantly jump cut and go out of focus, is FIVE FUCKING SECONDS too much to ask for to actauly see the thing and how it works/looks like?

This photographer needs to be shot in the balls, then repositioned and shot in the balls repeat every 2 seconds for 30 seconds.

Yeah, it's like watching that last transformers movie where you get a tenth of a second for each camera angle.

Not enough lense flare. Gonna call up JJ and see what he can do to fix up the vid.

Really Steve? I watched the video and appreciated how fucking lame it was. Thanks for the humor.

I can't believe a video of a dress was on the cover of HardOCP...

I'm gonna go overclock something...

oooooo k...

I try and keep my mouth shut about "art" but this is effing stupid.
Waste of talent, time and material.

Huh. N\So it's not really a dress. It's like a shell that goes over a rather boring white dress. It also has no joints but for the ones on the arms, so when she moves around, it looks like a crappy backpack or something.

I suspect it would be more interesting as a piece if it wasn't being worn. It's a very cool shape, with some Geiger-esque qualities going on.

There is a computer inside the dress you may be able to overclock, then stick some meat and veggies on there for a nice self-serving shishkabob device... or marshmellows... mmm, if you can't tell I'm really hungry right now.

I had to chime in and also say what a hunk of crap this is.

yea - after watching the video and the behind the scenes video, it actually took away from its mysterious appeal

First off, based on the video...yes, this is lame.

However, if you guys read anything about this, apparently the computer makes it "react" based on physiological cues in a "defensive" way. Kind of interesting, but from the video you would have no idea that a computer was even used.

once she can lay down and the legs are big enough and strong enough to walk her around like a spider, then ill think it's cool. Otherwise it is just some 3d printed parts with a bag of servos and a microcontroller, oh and LEDs lol.

Btw I have to agree with the person that mentioned a 'dress on the front page of [H]". Yea, next up is "how to store your car in the garage and spend your time in the kitchen preparing a good meal for your wife, with a 3d printer involved somehow".

Wow man, Steve sure got burned hard in this thread. I thought the dress was alright...
