Although I have both for Windows (And have since switched to OSX), I'm looking forward to Diablo 3 and FFXIV: ARR on the PS4. Lets see a list of RPGs and MMOs that you guys/girls are dying to see on the PS4!

I'm not much for MMO's, but the Elder Scrolls Online should work well. I ended up using a gamepad to play Oblivion and Skyrim on the PC thanks to the UI, so I'd assume this one will be similar.

Why in the world would you want to play ff14 on the ps4 vs a pc?

I'll counter your question with "why wouldn't you?". Besides, I'm done with Windows gaming for a while.

Having played FFXIV however I'm not sure why you would if you already have it on the PC?

Also will it support kb/mouse? I personally couldn't see myself playing it with a controller. Seems like in general MMOs are better suited for that type of input. Although I knew someone who did play MMOs via controller, rather well, even though he was playing them on the PC.

I think the control scheme depends on the game. I went through Neverwinter thinking it would have been perfect with a controller. Supposedly that game is headed to consoles this year.

First off, my PC has been disassembled, and sitting in the garage. FFXIV was actually built to be played with a controller, and has a pretty wide variety of emotes available.

Because it's so hip, that it makes foam violently shoot out of the sides of people's mouths.

Spoiler: There is no reason. I'm sure everyone will agree that if you have an able and modern computer, playing the same game on a console makes about as much sense as trying to use a grocery bag as a parachute. Besides, you can hook up literally any controller to a PC.

On topic: Looking forward to the new FF(15) (but we'll see how that goes). That's it basically.

For those wondering why..
Perhaps not everyone has a pc hooked up to their living room tv?

I played ff14 on both my pc and ps3 (pc is downstairs in my mancave, ps3 is hooked up in the living room). I agree the experience is nicer on my pc with a mouse and keyboard, but it was still enjoyable sitting back on my couch with a controller in my hand (and it was surprisingly playable using the controller).

There's also the issue of friends. I have boatloads more friends on the consoles because they're more approachable.

This is the "Console Gaming & Acc" sub-forum...

I'm waiting until the PS4 version to start playing FFXIV a lot. I want to be lazy on the could and play with the Dualshock 4. The game has a pokey combat system which will be fine for a controller.

Even the PS2 & PS3 version of FFXI supported a mouse and keyboard setup. I have no doubt FFXIV will on PS4.

I don't think it's been mentioned that FFX HD is going to be out on PS3 and Vita in March.

ESO is nothing like Oblivion or Skyrim so assuming that it will play well on a game pad because Oblivion and Skyrim do doesn't make any sense.

Not my thread, but I'm also interested in rpgs and mmo's on the ps4. I've been there done that on the pc but now I'm on a computer all day at work and just the ergonomics on a pc aren't there for me. Playing games in a recliner with a controller is just more comfortable for extended periods of time.

That being said I'm cool with switching from ps4 to pc w/ controller if that ever makes sense. When I tried a few years ago the key mapping just wasn't there for my 360 controller except on a few games. I was able to suffer through WoW on my 360 gamepad but it wasn't conducive to any play types except dps. Anything I had to accurately swap targets rapidly and it just didn't work. Maybe the steam machine will usher in a more living room friendly pc gaming era.

I'm pretty much in the same boat, Dawill. I want to be able to relax when I get home, not sit at a desk again.

I guess I just want to get some good RPGs that'll last me a while, that have good stories, and modern graphics and sound. Not necessarily heavy action combat, but more turn based.

It's depressingly dry on the JRPG front in terms of announced titles. Soul Saga, a kickstarter game looks kind of okay. I'm hoping Gust will announce a new Atelier for the PS4 in the next year or two; the Rorona remake could have been a nice fit for the PS4. FF15 and KH3, aren't really exciting to me. I'd love to see 'dead' classics revived with new entries like a Suikoden 6 or a Lunar 3, and new IPs crafted from talented devs like Level 5 as well, but it's looking to be more or less another glum generation of RPGs, similar to what I experienced with the PS3.

Anyone play war thunder. It's a fun mmo, granted not same category as ff or any RPG. Not out in us store yet but you can make a euro user and download it from there. Simple to do and play it under your normal user id.

PS4 version of WT is sub par compared to the PC version. Its only arcade mode, which misses the point of that kind of game IMO.

yeah, never played PC version. I was thinking something was missing cause in the few games I've played, when I checked player stats, they have only arcade. I thought that was because I just started and was in newbie queues. But for a free game on the ps4, it's not bad. I also go in realizing it's beta, for what that's worth. It also seems to still have PC controls, where I have to use the touch pad to move. Like when you put on a decal

I went in to Frys to pick up a Vita, and was surprised to see they had some PS4s. *Almost* bought one, but remembered there's still a very limited game selection.

I can necro my own thread, right? ;)

Since I have a PS4 now, I'm looking at possibly getting back into FFXIV. Yeah, I know my PC would look a hell of a lot better, but I want to play on the couch, enjoy the bigger screen.

I didn't get very far into it, however the game plays pretty well when you figure out all the controls.

FFX HD and FFX-2 HD are coming out on PS4 this spring. FF Type-0 HD in March. FFXV at some point this year.

I play FFxiv on the PS4. I play on the PC sometimes, but it is more often than not tied up around here so I default to the PS4 most of the time.

After getting a handle on playing the game with the controller, which was no small task, I am actually starting to prefer the console over the PC. The game runs great on the PS4 and it looks good too. It really is far more relaxing playing in front of my TV than at the computer desk.

Planetside 2 is coming out soon. MMOFPS so.... Technically that counts :)

I enjoyed FFXI much more on Xbox 360 than PC. When I played on the PC I used a Dualshock 2 on a USB adapter ;).

QFT, it is a very different game than previous Elder Scrolls games and if you're expecting the type of gameplay to be similar to Skyrim then you're going to be disappointed. I've played ESO since beta on PC and I just can't see it being nearly as fun/dynamic on my PS4 as it is on PC. ESO plays more like WoW than an ES game, with the exception that you have to actually try and hit your enemy instead of target locking on them and running around.

The bigger issue with bringing MMOs to consoles is MMOs are designed for, ahem, mass numbers of players. Text-based interaction (as opposed to voice based) is the best way to have mass numbers of players interact in an MMO, and that's not really feasible unless you add a keyboard of some sort to your console, and at that point what's the point of the console?

Many social activities become a lot more difficult on the console than they are on the PC. I'm not hating on the console, it's just the way it is. LFG, WTS, WTB, LFM, LFquest/grind/market are all pretty essential to an MMO functioning optimally and without the ability to get that stuff out there it's going to make all those social interactions difficult. If playing a game requires me to go to a website to really get the social aspect of it going (looking at you, Destiny) then it's already a fail as a massively multi-player experience.

That said, as an RPG-of-any-type fan, I have not seen much exciting for the PS4. Dragon Age: Inquisition seems like the best bet of stuff that's currently out and the game I'm looking forward to next, so I'd give that a look if I were you.

I never got into the Diablo 3 when it first came out but I am playing it on the PS4 right now and it is loads of fun. I personally think it plays better with the controller instead of the mouse, just more relaxing.

Have it for PC and PS4 and prefer PS4. Game is awesome kicked back on the couch with a controller.

Actually as someone who has played FFXIV on both PC with KB and mouse and PS4 with the controller, I would say that the PS4 and controller combo handles the MMO experience pretty well. The controller does take some adjustments and there is definitely a learning curve involved, but once you get a handle on it the PS4 controller is a surprisingly handy way to play. Aside from commenting in chat it does as well as the KB / mouse. For combat controller might even be preferred. Navigating the UI is no problem. Over all it is a pretty sweet experience. I was surprised how to find out well the controller actually worked.

But this is for FFXIV only. Never played ESO, so that could be a different experience entirely on console with controller.

I'm there with you on that one.

Square enix did a fine job making the pS4 controller fully interactive.

I actually have keyboard, mouse and controller hooked up, but only to type and use the map or move around the hud, change chat channel(mouse).
Every thing else, is pretty simple to use the controller for.

I think there is definite potential for MMOs on the ps4.
