I was shopping for something else and stumbled on this.

I didn't try to check-out with it since I'm not in the market for one but when I was this was always OOS.

Anyway, it seems like they have eleven (11) in-stock as-of this post for $800.

Interesting, the amount in-stock has gone up to thirty-two (32) as-of this post.

Technically speaking it's a pretty warm deal. We just received a large shipment, it's got free shipping, and you can still get a $20 gift card with code 'NEWCUSTOMER20GC122014' :p

I been using that site for about a month and I'm just not quick enough lol :(. But reading on some other sites and on the Asus rog fourms has made me a bit worry about the issues.

They have a thing where it will text you when it becomes available. Thats how I got mine.

The monitor is seriously amazing, its pretty much impossible to go back to life without gsync.

whats more interesting, people are paying $800+ for a 27 inch monitor...

Yeah thats why Im asking does it come in bigger size? Seems like you would pay $800+ in year 2002 for a 27 inch LCD. This is year 2015, wtf right?

What other 27" monitor with 144Hz can you get for $600? (G-SYNC adds $200 to the price of a monitor.)

I bought one from NCIX already. Just waiting on them to ship it. Now Amazon have them? Damnit!!! I could had 2 day shipping :(

If you just want a 27" 144Hz panel there are quite a few options, and ALL of them cheaper than $600. In fact Asus' own VG278HE retails for just $369 on Amazon, less than half of what the ROG Swift costs.

It's actually the 144Hz @ 1440p that's the main selling point for the ROG Swift. Of course being the only panel of its kind there's a significant premium, which could be stomached if not for the numerous QA issues with the panel.

Apologies, 144Hz @ 1440p is what I meant. What other 1440p 144Hz monitors are there? 1080p for obvious reasons isn't under consideration.

... which will be out in March at the earliest. That makes the ROG Swift the only contender for now.

That is Acer's answer to the RoG Swift, and with an IPS screen, it will probably be priced even higher than $799.

What distinguishes the Swift is its unique combination of all high-end gaming feature checkboxes. There's nothing else that hits all the same features, and its not even close.

But yes, the main difference is 1st/only gaming panel 1440@144Hz without need of overclocking (anyone who wants to mention panel lottery with the Swift should buy a lotto ticket if they want to bank on a perfect, overclockable Korean panel), the addition G-Sync is just another major cherry on top and arguably a bigger boon than the 144Hz aspect since they work on opposite ends of the refresh rate spectrum.

Certainly looking forward to these releases with great interest. Mainly to put this whole "When can we get a 120+Hz G-Sync IPS panel" requests to rest. But yes I also have a feeling all of these people may not be thrilled with the sticker price attached to it!

Personally I'm skeptical whether or not an IPS panel is capable of the same crisp gaming refresh as a TN without a lot of blurry image retention or overdrive artifacting, but we will see! IPS certainly has its uses, like staring at a desktop or working in text/graphics; I have 3 at work and 2 flanking my Swift in my office at home, but when it comes to gaming, the small trade-offs with TN are well worth it.

Just wait, there are a lot of G-SYNC options coming out in the next two months.

B&H lowered their price to retail. They formerly were gouging for $1,075.00.

Yeah, I was disappointed to see them price gouging a few months back at that price. They have some in stock right now at $966.00 (still too high).

Press releases are nice, however no knowing how far it is from launch. They say March 2015, lets see if they hold to their word.

Yeah, that's really too bad, as they have great service and free economy shipping. When I got mine from TD, I had to pay sales tax and some for shipping, but I was glad to get one.

Acer scares me whenever they try anything new. I had the GD235hz which was the first 120hz 1080p lcd display and it was by far the worst monitor that I've ever used. From what I heard the 27" 120hz (also first on the market) was loaded with issues at launch.

I wouldn't get my hopes up about that Acer.

You do realize that was a budget priced panel right when 120hz tech was coming about.. like 4+ years ago.. this is nothing like that

It was the first 120hz 1080p LCD display on the market. I don't think that a $400 1080p tn is exactly a budget display either.

You keep forgetting that was over 4 years ago. Yes, in 2010 $400 for a 1080p 120hz TN panel was a budget display. Obviously today, not so much.

Just because the first implementation of 120 hz didn't turn out so well, means nothing at all to the first implementation of 144Hz on a IPS panel today. Wait for the reviews before making sweeping claims about all Acer displays based on your experience with a single cheap panel.
