It looks like Aliens: Colonial Marines and AvP 2010 are no longer sold on Steam. Head on over to Blue's for all the news.

The Aliens vs. Predator Steam forum offers a confused post which notes the game associated with the forum is no longer being sold on Steam, though it remains playable for those who have already purchased it. There is an extensive discussion of this and the concerns it raises on reddit. There's also a related post on Polygon noting that a Aliens: Colonial Marines is similarly no longer for sale on Steam.

This would be a lot more troubling if they had removed the title for people that have previously purchased it ... I have had digital titles on several services (PC, tablet, audiobooks) go off of sellable status but I haven't lost a title yet because of this ... until they start invalidating previous purchases without financial compensation I am not too worried

Hmmm ... makes me wonder if these games, even though still playable, would load on a new machine.

I think they run out of keys. Sometimes their are disputes with publishers though. Like when EA pulled Crysis 2.

It might depend on the service and if there is an activation of some sort ... the Steam games I have seen removed from sell status remained in my library and were still installable ... I have only heard of one Steam game that no longer functions and it was only for the multiplayer aspect which required a server that was no longer present (although even this is probably not an insurmountable obstacle as I have seen people playing WOW on bootleg servers, so most big titles could probably go this way as well) ;)

The only real loss here is the $50 that I payed for Colonial Marines on release day.

Aliens vs Predator 2010 was a pretty fun game...Steam should not have delisted that title...getting panned by critics should not be a valid reason to remove a game

All indicators are that this is just an expiration of their contract to sell the title ... since Sega doesn't have their own store they may just be jockeying for money from one of the other digital sites for an exclusive contract ... no publisher is going to put all their eggs in the physical basket again

I paid $1 for it on Amazon a year ago. Couldn't resist and to be honest it wasn't half bad for the price but completely forgettable.

Probably Republicans, as they have always been trying to keep those illegal Aliens out of the country. Taking our jobs, face hugging our women, at some point enough is enough.

Jeez, don't talk about your friends like that. It isn't nice.

I believe those games will be back on Steam soon. Sega doesn't exactly have their own DD or DRM platform... unless they've decided to go DRM-less. I'll eat my keyboard if that happens :p

If it was an issue with the contract...then why are they still selling Alien: Isolation? It's still owned by Sega. Or just an issue with the contract based on those games individually?

Different game, different contract. Considering AvP 2010 and Colonial Marines were suppose to come out at the same time, it wouldn't surprise me if they were both under the same contract for licensing while Isolation was given its own later on with a different agreement. That's just my uninformed guess on it, though.

Fair enough - sounds like a reasonable possibility at least.

Think they ran out of licences a week ago i picked up colonial marines with DLC for £1.99, less then a bottle of coke lol

They are moving it to a NEW online digital distribution service, called UOriginallyPlay>HotWaterVapor 4Ever, requires always on internet connection. Only these 2 games will be on there, plus Candy Crush, Soda Crush.

Something about world domination.

I've got atleast 6 games on steam that cannot be purchased any longer. They're all still downloadable and playable. It is interesting to think people are getting popup notifications about me playing a game they can't have.

One interesting note is there is a game that is unavailable for purchase, but I can still go to the store page and buy some DLC for it.

Don't know why they're making all this fuss.... this happens from time to time with many titles on Steam. Ghostbusters, Collin McRae DiRT, etc...

There is even a Steam Group about this 'phenomenon'...

This is pretty frigging funny actually, as Alien: Isolation is still available. :p
