What is your "dream monitor" right now?

Okay, so use the word "dream" a little less literally, try to be somewhat realistic. (OLED, for one, is what I want but I know it isn't coming out very soon at prices that are reasonable).

My list:
1. 32 inches in size.
2. 1440p
3. 100+ Hz
4. 1 ms input lag
5. High bit color. Preferably at least 10 bit.
6. Freesync
7. 16:9

Explainer: 1440p and 32 inches are a perfect match. No need for Windows scaling and all the issues that are inherent there. 4K in my view isn't ready for primetime when it comes to gaming. Certainly not if you want more than 100 frames per second in demanding games on a reasonable budget, and I need that because I love smooth gameplay. Ditto low input lag.

Freesync for me is also an obvious feature set. NV will eventually come around and support it, as it is free and it's doubtful people will pay 100+ dollars extra for G-sync if there are no major differences.

I'd prefer VA, IPS is doable, but so is TN if it has the same high quality as seen on the ROG Swift monitor, but only at that standard.

What are your criteria?

25"
IPS
1440P
240hz+
250 cdm2
thin matte antiglare coating
No backlight flicker
adjustable stand

OLED (with burn in prevention)
32-40"
3840x2160
Glossy / Non Grainy AG
Flicker Free

IF its LCD then

IPS + A-TW or VA
Full Array Local Dimming
Quantum Dots
96hz+
adaptive sync
strobing, 3d support
low input lag
very light matte

My dream monitor with existing tech would be the Acer B326HK that I already own, with Gsync added.

OLED
30-32" 1440p 120+ Hz
g-sync but with multiple inputs
glossy or PDP
no PWM

28-32"
3840x2160
IPS or OLED (Hey I can dream right?)
G-sync
144 Hz
Light AG coating

Dream big people.

I don't care what tech it is as long as it:
-can display true black, with accurate grayscale tracking and gamma
-has no viewing angle, uniformity or 'glow' issues
-silent (sometimes monitors are noisy and that gets annoying fast)
-sold with anti-glare and glossy options
-16:10
-refresh rates at least 120 hz
-minimal input lag and response times
-about 27" size
-hardware calibration

I think that covers it.

As long as we're dreaming...

- OLED
- 27 inches
- 5120x2880 pixels 10bit with Displayport daisy-chaining to two other panels (same resolution)
- 120+Hz, see below
- Glossy/PDC/Frameless (the last pixel is the border of the screen)
- Some kind of GPU/DisplayPort/Display techonology, where the screen doesn't refresh if a static picture is sent (meaning, the OLEDs stay constantly on, so, essentially, 0 Hz), and when something is changing on the picture (say the mouse is going across the screen), only the pixels that change actually change. The GPU sents the information about what changes to the display. No traditionnal "scanning"

Oh well, back to studying.

What about the size of the monitor?

Anything between 24'' and 40''. Res 1080p - 4k
Hell, I'd even take a 24'' 1080p OLED over any size/resolution LCD. (but with a dense FALD they could come pretty close to OLED blacks, with minor haloing)
Even OLED blacks suck compared to Vantablack, so if I can dream I want a monitor that can display Vantablack.
It would be disturbing just to look at black surfaces, excellent for space and horror games.

- CCFL backlight
- no PWM
- no input lag
- TN or IPS without glow and backlight bleeding
- semi-glossy
- 60 Hz with free sync on Intel GPU
- 1920x1200
- no unnecessary features like pivot, height adjustability, loudspeakers

I don't think I'm being so demanding, but why is it so damn hard to find? :confused: :mad:
1440p 27"

This.

And....

-closer to 40" than 32".
-30/60/72/90/120/144/180/240 Hz.
-HDMI 2.0 and DP 1.3 ports.
-HARDWARE calibration hardware/software included.

4096x2160
Glossy or Plasma Deposition Coating w/o a glass covered black frame
Dark matte grey bezel
480hz+
OLED
Capable of outputting 100-160cdm/2 (480hz OLED VR displays max around 50cdm/2 currently)
PWM Free
No glow

No overshoot ghosting
Form of motion compensation to eliminate source judder in movies
G/Free-Sync
Excellent colour presets
Hardware calibration

Curved 21:9, 5k (5120x2160)
G-Sync/Freesync
40 inch+
Glossy
No input lag
OLED
120hz+ (yes I know nothing can possibly push that resolution at this frame rate......yet. But those specs would last a very long time)

Perfection, except replace 21:9 with 16x10 at ~50 inches.

I can probably push league of legends or CS:GO at 120 frames per second :p

* No motion blur
* Perfect blacks
* Excellent color reproduction
* Looks great in direct sunlight as well as darkness
* Variable refresh rate
* Good viewing angles
* At least 144hz
* No input lag
* Perfect geometry
* At least 3840x2400
* 16:10 aspect ratio
* Excellent out of the box calibration
* 30"+

36"
4k
OLED but realistically IPS
60hz is fine
100% Adobe RGB

Since I use mine for development, this would also be my perfect display. Well.. perfect as in "vaguely realistic".

Sky's the limit, an extra wide 42" screen with 8K resolution, 120fps, etc...

My dream display in order of importance:

1) 8k (7680x4320) resolution
2) 40 inches or larger (70 inches or larger to double as TV and monitor)
3) VA LCD panel type or OLED (if it was cheap enough and didn't suffer bad burn-in/color burn-out)
4) 100Hz+ (ok if only at lower resolutions), atleast 60Hz at native.
5) <10 ms response time
6) <10ms of input lag

Yeah... its going to be forever until that comes out. I have been using 3840x2400 displays since 2005. I have been waiting a long time for an upgrade... It is nice that finally 4k is becoming common though...

32"
Displayport
*VA panel for true blacks
Some form of Sync
Service Menu with access to offset gains on each color channel
Capable of true 120hz on some resolutions
At least 3840x2160.

34" curved a-mva 244 MHz, 21:9 4k and both gsync/freesync capabilities, along with 3d vision... Coming with a free upgrade to dual 390x / Pascal setup :)

i'll be more realistic here:
- 24'' 1440p, for me standing 40 cm away from the monitor 24 is more than enough, i love small hi-dpi screens
- IPS FreeSync, no glow, above average uniformity and decent blacks.
- 10 bit color
- hardware calibration
- sub 4 ms response and low lag

My Dream Monitor:

120hz+
Sync'ed (free or g)
27"
120+ PPI with adjustable Gaussian smoothing for non-native resolutions
At least 2000:1 contrast
100% Color Gamut, < 0.5 Delta E
No backlight bleed
Glossy finish
No Bezel.

And a 10 year warranty.

28"
3840x2160
Glossy
144hz+
ULMB
Variable Hz
100% Adobe sRGB
Excellent blacks
Latency <= 1ms
Thin bezel (U2414H style)
Rotation/Height adjustment
Factory calibration
Price <= 300 GBP

How long will I be waiting for this monitor? Nevermind the bandwidth and computation requirements.

Be able to plug the display output directly into my optic nerve and do away with the need for a screen.:)
