If only I could convince the wife this purchase is warranted.

I cant even convince myself this is warranted lol.

In for 1.

Why did I buy this? Time to be a youtube star I guess...

If anyone bought one of these (Blackout Edition), is having buyer's regret, and wants to make a quick $10 I'll offer $89.99 + your cost of shipping to 14226! Just throwing it out there.

I see these hit here every once in a while. Would something like this be good for gaming / voip? Would it be able to do a good job recording off to the side of monitors?

I wouldn't mind something that I could place far enough away to not work about people hearing my HEAVY breathing but would still block out background noises. Don't want people hearing my mom yelling get a job loser.

rudy,

It would work for both platforms. After reading reviews and other feedback on this product for almost a year, since I wanted one, I decided to get a modmic.

Yeti's are the types of mics more geared toward podcasts, singing, etc. You have to be really close, maybe an inch or two, if you are speaking normally. I still am looking to get a mic of this caliber, but it will be later down the road.

You can use it for gaming and voip, but as far as gaming goes you may have to lean in for folks to hear you.

Picked one of these up a while ago, they've been on Amazon's gold deals for quite a bit now. Awesome looking mic, the all-black paint job blends well with my set up. Sounds amazing too.

I have one of these, but I recommend stepping up to the Pro if you want to use the headphone output. 16/48 I/O on this one, 24/192 on the Pro.

This is absolutely wrong. You can be a foot away from this and pick it up in omnidirectional mode, or you can set it up to directionally pick up your voice and adjust the distance.

Do not listen to this guy.

I have this exact mic, fyi.

Yeah, everyone the Blue Yeti mics are very very good. I have been waiting on a sale for the blackout edition and got in on this. It is going to be fun. Not that I will really use it to its full capacity, but oh well.

My Blue Yeti picks up everything from 2.5 feet away. You can even hear unintended noises like my stomach growling, scratching my scalp, rubbing my fingernails together, the fans on my PC 6 feet away, every mouse click on my Microsoft Sidewinder, G27 steering wheel motor noises, my headphones if I have them too loud, the rustling of my pants if I shift my weight in my chair, etc.

Set it to directional and point it toward your face. You can also reduce the gain slightly.

I know. I was letting BroHamBone know that the mic picks up very well even though it isn't directly in your face as he was suggesting that a user may have to do to be heard. :)
