At only $5.99 to rent, there isn't any reason why we shouldn't all be watching The Interview on Christmas.

Starting Wednesday afternoon, you can watch the controversial Sony Pictures comedy "The Interview" via YouTube, Google Play, the Microsoft Xbox video game console and a special Web site. The movie will cost $5.99 to rent and $14.99 to buy.

a. support it because this is america
b. bootleg sony because they didnt support free speach, then kind of did

not sure! here

This was all an elaborate publicity campaign from Sony. A movie no one would have heard of is suddenly something a lot of people will watch! (I'm joking!)

I think it is ironic how Sony (and other studios) wanted to destroy Google. Now they are basically using Google to cash in...

I was eager to see Google destroy the movie studios, MPAA, RIAA in their upcoming war (as it seemed where it was headed).

I hate Sony but I want to see Sum Dum-Fat's head explode more than I hate Sony, will buy.

I'll be renting it in the sole hope that this will open companies to the idea that this distribution method can be successful for a major motion picture release.

Not sure I agree as they stand to lose a lot of money by not going to the theaters first. Not to mention there were tons of commercials out for the movie before the issues started.

google will be streaming it free if you add torrent at the end of your search by tomorrow lol

I wouldn't have watched this trash movie even without the publicity stunt. Especially not for 6$. I'd rather spend that on meat.

I noticed at work only the liberals blamed Sony for making the movie. Everybody else condemned the hackers. It's not too hard to figure out why.

I think this is a cash grab and a bad idea since it's still up in the air with Korea I suppose the movie will get triple the views and publicity sony just cares about money and not what Could happen.

If the Sony hack was supposedly perpetrated or supported by NK, all the sites streaming this movie should get DDoS'ed hard today, right?!?!

/grabs popcorn, gets in a comfy chair

I'd go for b, simply because the MPAA says that downloads = lost sales, so if you download its the same as if you would have paid to see it, hence you're still supporting America :D

Well, this isn't the worst thing Sony can do, given all their flip-flopping. I have to say, I was planning to go see it at my local indie theater (Drafthouse! Not really that local either..hell of a drive, but the food is bloody worth it!. Now, if only they'd get recliners...), but both shows tomorrow are sold out.

I'm certainly no fan of Sony, and those in infosec and intelligence circles know there's more than enough to suggest it is possible this is NOT an official NK operation, but as I've said before I'm far more disappointed in the way Sony and the major American movie theater chains handled it than anything else.

I'm willing to pony up a few dollars to see The Interview online, but I'm going to be seriously pissed if Sony can't get away from their DRM-infected minds long enough to do it right. For instance, will the movie be in 1080p at least? What constitutes a "rental" exactly? I'm worried this means either some horribly DRM encumbered garbage, or some sort of online streaming - both of which may make it more difficult to view, especially if not using a PC.

I don't want to hear a single bloody whine from Sony about "piracy" worries or if they don't make eleventy billion dollars in profits; they have an opportunity to capitalize on people willing to see and pay to see their show as a form of protest. The least they can do, if they weren't going to release it for free (which will give them lots of good press/hype etc...) it to make it available for a single price for a high-quality downloadable copy..or better yet, "Pay what you want/what you can", HumbleBundle style.

Still, I'm interested to see how this turns out. For those who don't want to pay or have some ethical objection, I'm sure that much like everything else a pirated version will show up soon. If nothing else, Sony should pay attention to all the money they will make from this endeavor instead of fixating on the theoretical money they wrongly figure they "could be" making, and maybe consider bringing their practices into the 21st century.

$14.99 to "buy" (you're not buying anything, it is a long term rental) a non-physical copy of this movie. What a rip-off; no thanks.

Still not buying the whole n korea had anything to do with this. Whole thing is a farce. Political theater.

I'll be renting this. Can't wait to see how "lovable" they made that fat kid.

Does anybody else find it a little amusing that it is available to stream on xbox (and many others), but not ps4?

They editted the thing down to NK's liking before the hacking. So not expecting a lot.

It's not worth watching from what I hear.

No kidding!

Just watch the preview; the movie looks absolutely wretched!
It's all about stupid, unlikeable people making 'stinky dick' jokes.

I guess 'Tammy' wasn't rock bottom after all. :(

There's only one movie worth watching at Christmas.

PUT THE COOKIE DOWN, NOW!

Selective attention on your part. Anything that doesn't fit the narrative that you want to believe you just silently toss out. HURR DURR LIBURALS R STOOPID AMIRITE.

I can't believe that this movie will be anything but terrible. Otherwise it wouldn't be available to stream yet.

I find it interesting NK has thrown a fit about this movie. Did they throw a fit when Team America was released? I'm sure they thoroughly enjoyed the Red Dawn remake and Olympus Has Fallen. Those latter two are the only way NK will ever see their soldiers on US soil.
