Grand Theft Auto 5 PC version Release Date! ( Official )

pff more of this crap.. if only they came with something new like "GTA 5 Sukeban" with all its subculture and in japan... blegh, cant take the same gta crap all over again, it got old.

Going to get this again (PS3) but to me it wasn't this great holy grail of a game. There was no interiors to buildings, little to no underwater exploration or hidden areas ala FC3/4 or Skyrim. The worst part had to be playing as Franklin and listening to his dumb ass ghetto friends have a conversation. My god that was cringe worthy.

That said the FPS mode and online with M/KB aiming are what is going to get me to double dip. Personally as open world sandbox games I think AC and FC are both superior than GTA series.

i'm in a "woot" looking forward to it

hopefully the extra time spent will pay off on the PC version

I already played it for xbox, but it was a lot better than IV, so I'll bite for a PC copy.

WHY ISN'T THIS OUT YET??? This is the next game on my list after trying out Fallout New Vegas with Project Vegas. I can't wait, the online heists looks really fun!

System requirements should be out this week. I've booked a week off work on the release date. Gonna play the shit outta this game :)

I'm in but wouldn't waste a single vacation day for a game....there was a time....

I want the game but the 'woot' died when they delayed the PC version (again).

Millions have been enjoying this game for over a year. It'll be a hot day in Niflheim before I pay full price for it.

I picked up the Xbox One version (have the Xbox for multimedia/TV mostly) back in November and honestly, it's been way too long since the original release to have me excited. Rockstar screwed over PC players big time by releasing it so late and they're probably gonna complain about poor sales again. But such is the way of things...

The release date has been January 27th for a while. The catch is that there are no details on pricing, packages, system reqs, etc. yet.
Supposedly they're going to finally announce all of that stuff in the next day or two. There's a Steam page for the game, but it's just a placeholder.

I'm a huge fan of the series and have been holding out for this for a while. I think my plan is to wait for release day and make sure that the PC release isn't broken. If it it, there's always the PS4 version.

GTA 4 had a 7 month delay before the PC version hit...I wonder how much of an impact the 16+ month delay will have this time around especially since console sales accounted for 97% in 2013 according to Take Two's financials

Given the enhancements with the new version, I think it will negate a lot of the negative impact of such a delayed release. First person being a massive selling point for a lot of people along with a huge amount of graphics improvements etc. Also the advent of the online heists about to be released will add a lot of interest and replay value.

Since I don't own any consoles, PC is the only way I can play GTA 5 and I have been looking forward to it. I'll probably buy it on release.

But I haven't even upgraded my computer enough to play GTA IV @ 1920x1080/60FPS yet...

Yep. My 4790K/GTX 970 doesn't cut it.

Either you're joking or the game just looks choppier than it really is. It isn't too tough to max our GTA4 (my 3770K and old GTX680 could) but the game always looks a little choppy in spite of the FPS being at 60. I bet Afterburner and FRAPS would show you sitting at 60. The caveat is that vsync is broken in Lost & the Damned so you have to disable it and use the Nvidia panel instead. Otherwise, the game locks your FPS at some odd number like 54.

I'm going to wait to see how the online stuff pans out. I beat the Xbox360 version when it came out. Maybe worth a play-thru again in first person.

Rockstar is one company where I will gladly pay full price for a game. Granted their PC ports have been spotty, for the most part they are still very gamer-friendly.

I agree with you. I was running a 3770k OC'ed and a GTX680 OC'ed and it would run above 45 FPS @ 1440p WITH graphics mods loaded.

GTA4 is an odd game because even when it’s running at 60fps, it looks choppy. I’ve tried FRAPS and Afterburner which show that the game isn’t dropping below 60, but something about how the game displays ends up making it not look smooth. It’s one of the few games I turn interpolation (TV “smoothmotion” aka. soap opera effect) on for. The Evil Within and New Vegas are others. Games that pull great FPS’s on the surface, but just don’t look “smooth.” It can make controls a little laggy, but in slower paced games that use a pad it’s tough to notice.

I just hope GTA5 is better optimized than that one was.

Same for me. Well, then again, I may delay purchasing it until the verdicts come in regarding how it runs on the PC platform. The last few GTA releases have been pretty sloppy ports, and Rockstar seems to have forgotten their roots as to who made them a powerhouse. Just like EA and Ubisoft.

Have they still not released the date or specs, or have I missed something?

Not a bad idea though I do have a lot more faith in R* with GTA V after their excellent Max Payne 3 port. Supposedly the PC version of GTA V has been in parallel development with the console versions opposed to just an after thought.

I really hope that is the case. And, if the PC version was developed in parallel with the console versions, then WTF took them so long to release it for PC?

Why, double-dipping of course! *rubs hands and laughs maniacally*

Uh, what do you want "specs" for? They don't actually represent anything really. :p

Can't wait for this to come out, as I have yet to play it. My 4k 32" IPS 60hz monitor with huge-oc sli Gtx 970 pair is ready. #pcgamingmasterrace

As far as specs, I'm only interested in the recommended VRAM requirements. Considering the unified memory pool on consoles, I'm curious if we'll see 4 GBs recommended.

I'm assuming we will. Of course, we all know what happens when you assume though.

Yeah, GTA IV had some crazy VRAM requirements when all options were maxed. Based on recent games like Watch_Dogs and Shadow of Mordor, it will be no surprise if GTA V has crazy high VRAM recommendation too.

When they announce the system requirements, I'm kinda worried that the reaction from young gamers is going to be embarrassing.

After the system requirements were released for Dying Light, the game's Steam forum was filled with profanity laced screeds, endless complaining and even some people threatening to burn down the developer's and publisher's headquarters.

It pisses me off, as these kids are reinforcing the stereotype that's been bestowed on us by Polygon and Kotaku et al. - whiny, entitled crybabies who threaten violence when they don't get what they want.

I hope the angry teens of the Internet can control themselves when they find out their shitty laptops can't run GTA V.

I'm assuming they still haven't announced anything. I dunno what to make of that.
