huge TP Link router / switch sale @ Amazon "50% off"

The one I ordered in September of this year from Amazon was a V2.

i Have the v1 sadly -- curious about the differences.

I think my next router (if any) will the be 802.11AC version of the linksys -- will be nice to have a descendant of the WRT54G back in the house

I went through a couple of the V1 C7s earlier this year. Had nothing but problems with them, wifi connectivity issues, range problems, wan connection drops, etc. Which was a shock cause my previous tp-link routers were pretty damn solid.

That looks awesome. Do they make a 5ghz version of this? I'd probably buy a handfull.

I don't believe so. I think it is just to 2.4 ghz version is all.
:p 5 ghz would be frigging awesome. Still, it works pretty sweet.

Got my archer C7 in and its up and running now. So far so good actually, interface is a tad underwheliming but everything I need is there and setup was easy enough. It is a V2. Did come with 1 revision old firmware, so an update was needed.

It's both 2.4GHz and 5GHz. I have one network named after the NSA and one named after a Notorious B.I.G. song. If I trusted my neighbors more I would enable the public WiFi hotspot capabilities.

Having used both, I feel that the Archer C7 is the better unit.

The user interface is horrible compared to ASUS. I mean absolute shite! Seems to work well enough if your not needing many of the features though. I could not figure out how to remote connect to the dang thing. (Installed at the rents and wish I would have picked up an asus for them instead.)

Is that for the TL-WR702N ?

I agree that the interface is more simplified. However, I've not found one thing missing that I wish I could control. My buddy's Asus is nothing but trouble all the time. We've configured and re-configured and re-configured ad nauseum.

I set up my Archer C7 and it's been rock solid since I got it. The only time it's been restarted was when the power went out -_-

Mine still says "Preparing For Shipment" even though I ordered it on the 13th. They initially charged me but then took the charge back, so I think they might be out of stock right now.

Really? I'll have to take another look at mine. Maybe I have an older version.:(

I got a c7 also, Is anyone having very slow 2.4 speeds? 5ghz is fine but 2.4 is very slow. It's topping out at around 30mbps. 5gz has been around 70-80 for same spot. Was testing from phone in same room.

I haven't tested my 2.4 speeds yet, but my 5gHz is insane, as I'm getting over 120/25 in the same room and 70/25 across the house (with a single bar).

oh suck.

my n600's(wrd3500) are acting up on openwrt, would have been nice to have caught this and just replaced them

Make sure that you check for the latest firmware. My router that I bought earlier this year needed to be upgraded and someone mentioned the same in this thread.

Mine arrived today. Both are V2. I spent an hour configuring one and then hooked it up and updated the firmware. After that I was no longer able to log in. I used the same PW I've always used so unless I made the same typo twice, it was a glitch. Anyway, after resetting it I was glad to see the update stuck so all I had to do was spend another hour configuring it again and all is now well.

I see they stole Asus's design.

I ordered mine on the 13th, and it just shipped on the 19th but is expected to be delivered on the 22nd.

I ordered mine from Newegg Same price but with Watchdogs code. Archer C8 has been rockin since install. Interface sucks but not difficult.

Setup was easy enough and the speed has been fantastic; however, I do have a problem where my PC never has internet access on a fresh boot, but does after a single restart. A minor annoyance that I can hopefully resolve ASAP.

I got mine today; Archer C7 v2 and I updated the firmware to 3.14.1.

I get the same speeds on both the 2.4GHz and 5GHz frequencies since my speeds from my ISP are only 50/50.

So far so good.
