What are your guesses/infos about DP1.3 devices becoming available in real products in shops? This problem obviously has two parts:

- DP1.3 monitors
- DP1.3 graphics cards

Reason for trying to predict it is such that if they are coming Q1/15 one can wait before upgrading to 4K, but if they are still one year way waiting makes little sense.

If HDMI 2.0 appearance in actual products (TVs/monitors/GPUs) timing after finalizing standard is any indicator for that, then most probably still looong way/time for it. There is slight chance for AMD next gen gpus to have it, but i wouldn't count on it. As nvidia's gpus (970/980) were released recently (and 2005'Q1 960 most probably will feature same inputs) and brought only HDMI 2.0 to table, it will be much longer for gpu gen after this for them to feature DP 1.3 support.
But do you really-really MUST have it? Imho 4K via DP 1.2 SST / HDMI 2.0 should be sufficient for most.

Seiki is releasing DP1.3 monitors Q1 2015.
New GPUs being held into 2015 gives a good chance of DP1.3 cards in Q1 2015 also.

But monitors that will take advantage of the tech is still a year off, unless CES 2015 has a few surprises i.e. 5K.

My bet is on whole-chain DP 1.3 capability not until 2016.

OK, it seems best is to wait 4 weeks to the CES. If there is no mention of DP1.3 anywhere there it will mean long time.

DP1.3 indeed is not critical /except 5K/, but just to avoid annoyance when one buys something and very soon it is an old technology. That would be the case if the DP1.3 full chain would appear in Q1 or beginning Q2 comparing to now. If it is one year from now waiting makes no sense.

Yes, it is critical, because you can't do 120hz+ @ 4k without DP 1.3, right?

60hz monitors are over.

.. over for very few not making up majority of buyers/users thus almost not impacting at all manufacturer product engineering decisions except for few narrow niche and thus overpriced product lines. Just because concorde was fastest passenger plane, it didn't made it most flown. Or not everybody is driving ferraris. Especially offroad or when you need to haul stuff. While 30Hz of hdmi 1.4 indeed most probably is below acceptable for most, not so with 60Hz. And that for 4K is provided by existing DP 1.2 & starting to appear HDMI 2.0. Not that much urgency to rush DP 1.3 implementation for products made for average joes/for 90% of users.
