Mega-Corp Samsung had a disaster of a third quarter with revenues falling a business killing 60%. Samsung has a cure for falling profits; go after the executives that are responsible. A refreshing change from American corporations that would just promote the executive to another level of incompetence.

According to the paper’s sources, several vice presidents, senior vice presidents and executive vice presidents were removed from their positions or fired.

Yeah wow, I almost never hear of executives having to take the heat for company mistakes.

It's so unfair that executives were treated in this manner, their contribution is so much greater than the average employee. It would have been better to lay off a thousand little people.

Damn, Samsung showing people how to run a corporation, like a boss.
Or did he get fired too.
:p

The fact that Samsung had a bad quarter and they fired a bunch of execs put a smile on my face.

I like my Samsung Note 10.1 but I have to say I am really ticked off at the company's support. No more updates because it's old. I know people like to say these things are "disposable" but to me they are NOT especially when they cost $500+ a pop. I expect the company to continue to give updates for a minimum of 5 years. The dam tablet is barely 2 years old and if I go the Cyanogen route I lose the included pen apps from Samsung that I use. I sure as hell won't buy a new one, and honestly, thanks to this "Samsung experience" the next one probably won't be a Samsung.

Their mobile phones are real nice, but they haven't added anything worth mentioning for years now. Getting stale. It's a brutal industry. You are either leading the cutting edge or you are old and dated.

Or you are Apple.

Whew, only from Samsung's mobile department. Had me worried there, but Samsung engineering seems to be doing OK.

Regarding their phones, I have a Samsung Galaxy S5, and it is absolutely badass. I can't think of a single way that the iPhone 6, which I hear is selling well, is superior. I mean not one. Are people really this tech-retarded that whoever has the better marketing team wins?

Yup after my Note 2 I'm never buying a Samsung product again. Go Nexus line.

Fun story...my sister-in-law the iPhone freak, is collecting daily use Samsung devices. Guess we know where the future of Samsung's business lies, disaffected iPhone users.

The short answer. Yes.

i disagree, you guys discount the software aspect. ios imo, is far superior to android, in ease of use, design/features, and performance. My old iphone 3gs "feels" smoother than quadcore phones running android. Not to mention, for the novice techy as most phone users are, ios is a much better fit than android.

In America they would have laid off thousands of employees and the executives would have gotten millions in bonuses.

As with any technology, as the market matures and devices improve, getting people to constantly buy new gear becomes more difficult. Most of the major players in smartphones and tablets have seen some demand problems. Even Apple, while still going strong with the iPhone, is going to see the first ever year-over-year sales decline of the iPad.

It's not the end of the world but simply the market stabilizing from hyper-growth which are obviously unsustainable.

I really don't understand how Samsung could be losing money, especially in their mobile division.

Their products are top notch.

Bad sales and tons of money invested across too many mobile products. Same thing that happened to HTC. Just Samsung as a whole is bigger.

I have new respect for Samsung.
Nice to see a mega-corp act appropriately for a change.

That is how much more awesome our corporate philosophies are.

But executives are perfect! All the money making and popular decisions come from them while all the poor and unpopular decisions come from the interns & entry level people!

I don't think anyone in human history as referred to Touch Wiz as top notch, it's a crime against humanity.

Applause for holding the brass accountable and not the troops.

In a perfect world both should be responsible ... Not just one or the other ... I like companies that maintain a meritocracy from top to bottom

Nope, some of us buy our phones because they work well and are well supported. In my case, my Lumia 925 with Windows Phone 8.1.
