So why you are saying is that one sexual attraction that is beyond the norm is acceptable, but another isn't even if it is genetic.
This is exactly the reasoning the anti-gay marriage crowd said would be one result of pushing acceptance to get marriage. Mark their and my words, soon we will be getting told that we have to accept pedos because it's not a choice.

to conflate gay marriage and pedophelia is to completely miss the mark.

gay marriage is a union between two consenting adults - nobody has any right to interfere in this process, since it doesn't affect anyone but those involved.

pedophilia, and more importantly, sexual violence against children, does NOT involve two consenting adults.

Being more accepting of l behavior between consenting adults does NOT imply that you will be accepting of violent and exploitative relationships between adults and children.

It's because everything is presented as a slippery slope. "Abortion leads to infanticide in the future", "gay marriage leads to beastiality", "gun control leads to totalitarian governments", "anti gun control leads to lawless dystopia", "porn leads to rape", "video games leads to corruption of morals", etc.

Of course everything is presented that way. It's an easy way to entice people into making false associations. This stuff happens in politics and policy matters all the time. Why anyone who bothers to think about this stuff for a moment doesn't realize the bogus association for what it is is the real mystery.

Chastise me if you will for not reading through any of the responses in this thread after page 1.

What I don't understand is why we as Americans in our society are so socially inept to find middle ground.

I want to use Japan as an example as it is socially acceptable to essentially be a pedophile but there are severe ramifications/punishments for committing sexual assault not only against children but in general.

Of course they have there ways of getting those people their 'outlet' with hentai anime and other synthetic venues, but as far I can tell that hasn't held the progression of that country as a whole (economic or otherwise).

I would consider Japan a living successful example of a society that can accept and understand to an extent that certain people will think and want to act upon these urges and allow them synthetic/virtual outlets to essentially ward them off.

Would love to hear what your thoughts are on this, since I don't feel anyone has brought up any CURRENT examples of dealing with pedophilia as a society.
 
Society is dumb. The vast majority of the people have no idea what paedophilia is, nor do they care. Even here with our very reasonable age of consent (14) most people just would say having sex with a 15 year old is wrong and would act as if it's the biggest crime in the whole world. People say it because they feel they are expected to say it. I am 100% positive that's the main reason we have so many dumb posts in this thread alone.

Paedophilia is being attracted to LITTLE ones, not teens but that doesn't really matter, does it?

Bunch of hypocrites and cowards.

Honestly some of this reminded me of the GTA Vice City radio. Maurice Chavez, with Pressing Issues I believe it was. Do some of them secretly want to build their own salvation statues with only the affluent included, too? XD


... It's kind of sad that I got reminded of that radio program from some peoples' actual opinions in a thread though. Very sad.
