TLER matters for SW RAID? SW Duplication?

I'm making heavy use of Stablebit Drivepool - it's perfect for me as a way to pool storage, ensure file-level redundancy without the worry of RAID controller failure, volume reconstruction, etc.

For SW solutions such as these, does TLER matter?

Context: I have around 50TB in aggregate, almost all of which are 5-year-old WD Greens. SMART is finally moving downhill after many years of reliable duty so I need to start swapping and upgrading drives and am wondering whether I should sub in Re, Se or Red Pro drives, or stick with the non NAS variety.

More specifically, I'm contemplating the Red Pro vs. the Black. I want a longer warranty as I get into the 4TB range, and I'd like sufficient performance to re-use the drives as desktop drives or NAS drives on the fly. In both configurations I have sufficient cooling to keep the drive around 35C, even 7200rpm.

File systems have a better understanding of what's going on and can deal with waiting. Hardware has to make decisions before the filesystem starts complaining.

I never had any issues with drives like that on hardware, despite people warning against it. But when it comes to something like ZFS, I have never heard any large amount of people recommend TLER.

EDIT: I've got 10 7200 RPM drives running and they do not get too hot at idle. But they do spin down a lot, so I don't think it matters at that point.
