NCASE M1: a crowdfunded Mini-ITX case (updates in first post)

I want to change to a better PSU but it looks like I'll be rocking my old Bronze 450W for a long time... 450W gold is loud, SFX-L doesn't fit and 600W make funny noises?
IMO the 450 gold is the best of the bunch as of right now. The 450 Bronze has more serious issues compared to the gold, which is only acoustics

I know it says that a single 240mm rad is enough to keep the CPU and GPU at good temps but I've been overclocking since I figured out that I could build my own PCs. I've always had larger cases in order to account for the additional headspace of large rads, often multiple loops, with push/pull fan setups so entering the world of small form factor is challenging to wrap my brain around.

I mostly game so my assumption would be to watercool/overclock the GTX980 with the 240 rad I can put on the side and leave the CPU at stock clocks and a fan cooler. Does this seem reasonable or would I get more ou of OC'ing the CPU and leaving the GPU with the stock cooler? Another priority has always been silence so is an aftermarket CPU fan option quieter than the stock 980 cooler or vice versa? That could also weigh in on my decision.

Thanks!

Gibby, if you want silence then watercool both. The 980 is not a hot card so you can probably get a bit of extra frequency out it. One trick to lower temps is to undervolt the CPU, you can still get a mild OC on it. Oh and leaving GPU memory at stock can help temps too without losing too much performance.

I placed an order for some DemCifilters on November 4th @ 09:00 Capetown time.

They were mailed out the next day and arrived here in Toronto on the 19th.
Transit time: 2 weeks. (Rather sluggish for this day and age.)

These guys know how to wrap stuff securely. Love the filters. :D.

Just putting some numbers into a sheet for volumes. On the Ncase site, it says it's 12.6L in volume but then has "overall" dimensions which actually come to 13.5L. This must be the case panels.

Seems a bit misleading because the volume is the internal frame is not important (although dimensions could be). It's not so much that it would change someone's mind to buy the case because of a 0.9L difference bewteen advertised and actual volume, but just.. strange. I haven't seen this on any other case where the volume is included in the spec sheet.

However, 12.6L beats the RVZ01 buy a decent amount but the actual volume of 13.5L is only 0.5L better (RVZ01 is 14L).

Actually it's common practice to exclude some features from the listed dimensions. Usually, the PCI card retaining tab and feet are excluded. In some instances I've even seen the entire front plastic bezel (30mm+) excluded. On the M1, the case panels extend to 333mm; the last 5mm are the PCI retaining tab. The M1 dimensions are only listed this way to put the case on even footing with the way other cases are specified.

I don't know about the RVZ01, but as an example the SG05 is listed on Silverstone's site as 222x176x276mm - 10.8L - yet the actual dimensions including the retaining tab and feet are somewhat more than that (AFAIK). Maybe someone who owns that case can confirm. Or really, anyone with any case could measure it against the manufacturer specs and report back. Would be interesting to know how common it really is.

That makes sense.

The tab would be 5mm as you said, but the overall length is 10mm longer.

It would be good to mention what the overall dimensions actually include because most cases won't have those extra measurements.

The feet on my phantom 530 are included in the spec sheet dimensions. But not included in the phantom 410.

South Africa Post Office workers have been striking intermittently since August, but there is end in sight. Yesterday a deal was accepted by two of the unions for 6.5% pay rise -- they had been asking for 15%.

I think it's great for DemciFlex that this is starting to be resolved, they must have been swamped with customer complaints about something that was out of their hands.

CPU cooler height is limited to 130mm - not 105mm like the original post says - correct?
I ask because I intend to replace my H220 with the new Noctua NH-U9S, which is 125mm from the CPU contact surface to the top of the cooler. I just want to make sure if the 130mm specification from the Ncase website is accurate.

Yes, 130mm. It's 105mm if there's a fan installed on the bracket.

What's a good solution for watercooling both? I am thinking about a H100i for the CPU - that wouldn't leave any room for a GPU rad right?

On their Facebook page they did say 1PM EST.

They're early though, just checked and it's up. :D

I think its up. I was able to pre order a version 3.

It also had an error after I submitted my payment. But it shows up in my paypal account as paid/completed. hmmmm

No errors on my end. I received 2 confirmation emails - one from NCASE and one from PayPal.

I only got a confirmation email from PayPal. Ill send an email to NCASE to check on my order......

Well how i use debit card with my paypal account i need $10 more, for the revison two the shipping was $50 but doesn't matter, the important it's my paypal account pass it. :D now! to add the extra money for the order, but the foreign exchange it's to expensive  0.08USD per MEX Peso to USD more than normally

Weren't these $205 shipped last time? Showing up as $225 shipped. :(

ATM, You only have the choice of air shipping. They mentioned they will add ground shipping by this Sunday (lower shipping cost).

just ordered a silver m1.. was really not going to as my plans have changed but ordered it to keep and eventually I will probably use it

but wanted to ask, all the M1 accessories.. these already come with the case no?

I just checked out .. so dont want to make a second order if i missed something useful -.-

Will the shortened SFX PSU brackets be available separately for those with V1/V2 who intend to order SFX-L PSUs?

Was just going to ask if there was ground shipping. I want to do ground shipping but I don't want to wait until Sunday and miss out on ordering one :( Is there a guarantee they wont be sold out before ground shipping is available?

Is there an estimate of when they would arrive for both shipping options? i know it says shipping starts on the 18th but does that mean if i get air shipping itll be there 2-3 days later? This info will decide which shipping I'll be getting.

Are we able to modify the order to change this? Or cancel the pre-order and submit it again with ground shipping? Really would prefer to save the $20, but not if that means losing out on securing an M1...

You would wait that long for your brandnew shiny M1 to save seem meager USD 20 (compared to total build costs)?
Ground shipping can take so long...very long...and seem even longer...and looonggeerrrr....and your hardware will get lonely and filled with despair...

Come on, do it, it's worth it. Much fast. Very M1. So shipping. Wow.

Haha, 3 extra days maybe? Considering we're waiting another month before they even ship... Absolutely. I already have my order in, though, hence the question.

Ground shipping from Taiwan means your case will be on a boat, and that can take 4-8 weeks. Air is much faster.

This. A hundred times.

I had "ground" shipping on the M1v1 and while many in Europe got theirs in November, the slow-boat-from-China didn't show up in Holland until February.

20 bucks seems like nothing when you have weeks to watch others enjoy building their rigs in this fine case.

Guys, the case will be shipped from taiwan, right? By air it's safety? I'm from Mexico and it's the first time send me sonething from there, first will be came to USA to USPS and there to Mexico?

Exactly. I ordered mine via air mail and received in about a week. As I'm in Germany (not particularly far away from the Netherlands) that makes a good comparison on how long it would take you to receive your M1 by air compared to by ground.
