Okay, I bought this motherboard with the expectation that I would find happiness but all I found was trouble and pain; the motherboard has a problem where it appears to be working but over the course of a few days it freezes up and I have to reset it and the cycle continues. In addition, I can't change the memory multiplier on it and no matter how much voltage I add and how much timings I add, it refuses to boot with the memory multiplier at 26 or even 24. (The memory itself is 24).

Seriously, what type of a company would allow a product like this to be released; where I can't even boot to BIOS with my 3TB drive plugged in. Gigabyte you should be ashamed of yourselves!

I will assume you have updated the bios to the latest non-beta bios which I think is F7.

Reseat your memory, reseat the cpu. Ensure that you are using the non sSata ports as they are not bootable and may have some weird quirks to them.

I always use the non eSata ports; BIOS is updated. I don't know what else to do.

You misunderstood. The way the port assignments on that board are done, the sata-express ports are actually also 4 of the main 6 ports. The ports that have sSata next to them are still part of the intel controller stack but they aren't RST enabled ports.

The ports to the farthest down the board or to the left in that picture are not bootable ports at all, and do not support raid, only AHCI.

You might try installing windows to your smaller drive/ssd and then going into bios and setting the sata ports to enable hotswap and see if you can plug the 3TB drive in after you are already in windows. This will determine if you have a completely incompatible drive or if there is some bios feature that might need to be disabled/enabled to support it completely.

Is your plan to use Windows 7 or windows 8.1?

I'm using a Gigabyte X99 Gaming-G1 in where I had some similar issues. You can read more about some of my issues (and solutions) HERE. Gigabyte sill hasn't solved the booting into BIOS with a hard drive connected yet; there is a work around posted in my thread.

As for the memory multiplier, the issue on all the Gigabyte X99 boards is that they can not run memory multipliers above default (2133MHz) unless the BCLK multiplier is set to 1.25. What CPU are you using? Assuming you are using a 5930k, try the following settings:

Clocks
BCLK: 125.00
CPU Multiplier: 28 (This will give you stock speed, 3500MHz on all cores)
CPU Uncore Multiplier = 24 (This will lock the uncore at 3000MHz, which is a good base when overclocking)
RAM Multiplier = 19 (This will set your memory speed to 2375MHz, which is as close as you can get at 125 BCLK. Setting your BCLK to 126.5 would get you to 2403 MHz on the RAM)

Voltages
CPU: Default
RAM: Whatever the ram is rated to run at
VRIN Voltage = 1.90v
VRIN Load Line = High

Hope this helps!

Can you return it? I've done several X99 builds for customers who brought me the parts in the last month, and have not had a single problem with the ASUS boards.

Hello Kermie,
I got this board X99 Gaming 7 wifi and I want simulate the problem, do you mind to inform me your system configuration.
Where did the 3TB hard disk is attached?
Is the 3TB hard disk has OS inside? Win7 64 bits or Win8.1 64bits?
What is your memory modules? I have here Corsair DDR4 2400FSB x8 pieces.
I have my CPU Intel 5820K and tested on Corsair DDR4 2400 FSB I can set to memory multiplier to 24X.
I used the beta bios F6e and it work OK.
Maybe you can write mail to Gigabyte to ask for F6e bios to check if this work on your side.
Thanks.
