Warm? 840 pro 512 $259.99 @ Amazon

Cheapest it has ever been on Amazon.

Same price on Newegg with $10 off promo code.

^ nvm it was $178, refurb from Samsung. I'd take the plunge and run as ssd and ssd life to see how much it was ran.

Wouldn't someone be better off spending less and grabbing an 840 EVO 500GB?

The price delta between the 840s has narrowed - you'd think the EVOs would be cheaper, but there's only ~$10-20 difference, and at that point, it's worth it to spend a bit extra and get the better NAND.

It also might be that the 850 EVO is evidently due out by the end of the year (evidently as soon as this coming week up to the end of this month-ish), and Frys already put a pre-order price of 499.99 on the 1TB model just two weeks ago: http://techreport.com/news/27274/frys-opens-samsung-850-evo-1tb-pre-orders-at-499-99

That being said, the lack of proportional price drops on the 840 EVOs suggests to me that retailers are freezing them at current prices in anticipation of *massive* drops on them at the tail end of November for Black Friday/Cyber Monday deals. They want to make as much as they can on incidental/have-to-have-it-now-not-later purchases before we're able to pick up 500GB 840 EVOs for insane prices.

I pad that much a year ago for a 840 Evo. Jesus, time flies.

Going to wait until Black Friday at this point.

Not hot in TX due to taxes.
Picked up a few on newEgg for $243 ea after coupon. Lowest I've ever seen is ~$231 from newEgg - that didn't last for very long!
