I would pick it up but the truth be I still have the original sitting in the basement and only played it for about a hour =)

Icewind Dale was pretty classic. Like Baldur's Gate, but much, much, much more battle-heavy. There weren't as many BS fights like the Demilich, but the body count was much higher.
I still have the disks for Icewind 2 somewhere. No clue where, though.

I bit, having enjoyed the old Infinity games. I just started Chp2, and, like I was told way back, this one is a pretty linear hack and slash fest. It's not bad, just not up to BG standards and doesn't come close to PST or FO. Having just played through Wasteland2, the contrast is enlightening.
No bugs, runs great on Atom/Ion/SSD mini rig.

I still have a fat booklet laying around from the original release. Those were the days. :)

I always liked the "feel" of Icewind Dale more than Baldur's Gate, but Baldur's Gate had an edge with being a much more open world (especially with 2).

I'm thinking if I should get it now or wait for the Christmas sale. I never played the expansion pack so perhaps I'll get it sooner rather than later.

Also, the music was amazing. http://youtu.be/9y96Y2JE5F8

Composer is Jeremy Soule, who also did the Elder Scrolls (Morrowind, Oblivion, Skyrim) soundtracks, as well as a handful of others (the excellent 'IL2 Sturmovik: Birds of Prey' music, for example)

"Dave Snider and Ian Kelly begin a playthough of Icewind Dale: Enhanced Edition." (of giantbomb/CBS Interactive fame)

Three parts up so far.

Not to mention Guild Wars, which had fantastic music.
