All this protesting over internet taxes is making me feel Hungary.

Tens of thousands of Hungarians took to the streets last weekend to protest the tax, which would have seen internet use charged per gigabyte transferred. The plan was expected to rake in around $80 million per year, mostly from companies, but following the protests Hungary's Prime Minister Viktor Orban said it "cannot be introduced in its current form," explaining that it was intended as a "telecommunications tax," but was perceived as an "internet tax."

I'd pay a few cents per gig here in the USofA if 95% of the money went to guaranteeing neutrality and upgrading infrastructure. Clearly Comcast and Charter aren't up to the job.

Somewhere, someone has calculated our oxygen intake and co2 emissions and we will be taxed accordingly.

The problem is that even if you could come up with a "fair" price, technology moves forward, and it will only be a matter of time until it's holding the tech back.

We've already seen what happens when the free market sets these sorts of prices, you get people paying hundreds of dollars a month for the privilege of sharing 10GB among their entire family - some of which are even gullible enough to believe they aren't getting ripped off.

I was Russian to work when Iran to Iraq because I was Hungary for some Turkey, but they didn't have any. So I got some Chile instead. Oman was it good! I got some Togo for later. When the waiter (Chad) brought me my Czech, I tipped him a Qatar and told him to have a good day, "Yemen" he says to me.

That's all Greek to me.

Taxes are not the answer. Want to discourage business? High taxes. Heck, I bet Ireland might be losing some business here soon...

We know this is coming in our lifetimes :/

Let me tell you how it will be
There's one for you, nineteen for me
Cos I'm the taxman, yeah, I'm the taxman

Should five per cent appear too small
Be thankful I don't take it all
Cos I'm the taxman, yeah I'm the taxman

If you drive a car, I'll tax the street
If you try to sit, I'll tax your seat
If you get too cold I'll tax the heat
If you take a walk, I'll tax your feet

Taxman!
Cos I'm the taxman, yeah I'm the taxman

Don't ask me what I want it for (Aahh Mr. Wilson)
If you don't want to pay some more (Aahh Mr. Heath)
Cos I'm the taxman, yeah, I'm the taxman

Now my advice for those who die
Declare the pennies on your eyes
Cos I'm the taxman, yeah, I'm the taxman

And you're working for no one but me
Taxman!

It won't. It will be diverted to something else. Government in its current form.
