PS4 version 2.0 seems worthy of the number scheme

WOW those themes are bad and ugly... The spiral one is pretty good I wonder who made themes I liked the community ones for the PS3 the best but don't see that as a option right now.

You know, they just released themes. Relax. You've already complained about it twice.

Yeah big problem! 2.0 the system gets stuck if you put it to sleep the orange light blinks lots of people with this happening myself included.

http://community.us.playstation.com/.../td-p/44702302

I set the system to "rest" while downloading the themes. I personally did not have this issue. I woke the system and configured the themes. But I do have issues with some of the themes and the horrible font selections not being too visible or sounds being to "noisy."

I noticed mentions of rebuilding the database after install in the posts. This was automatic for me when it upgraded. But I also had to rebuild the database previous (long ago) due to the corruption of the trophies and syncing with PSN.

Some of the themes sort of remind me of the original XBox "feeling and sounds." Hopefully soon there will be some good ones that have better acuity, and audio clues.

I need to provide an update on this. I also did not have the issue HisSvt76 had after I got home from work. Sucks for the people who had it though.

No issues...but am I correct that you still can't re-arrange your games/app tiles in the main UI? I didn't see that option in the 5-6 minutes I was looking for it.

Best fixes are safe mode and reload firmware or rebuild database per Sony there was a thread on GAF that was discussing this but defense force on GAF jumped in and magically the thread disappeared. Really is Sony land over there with zero helpful commenters.

I know I just want my shit alphabetical

So I had that sleep issue last night. Update downloaded while I was at work, came home and installed it. Update happened, hopped into a lengthy game of D3 then walked away for about 45 minutes while my demon hunter was just parked in town.

When I came back, the game was super stuttery. Weird. I put the PS4 into sleep mode, but the orange bar at the top just kept throbbing. Nothing would turn it back on except pulling the power cord and doing a hard reboot. It came back on, did it's hard drive check, and worked fine. I put it back in sleep mode when I was done playing - I guess I'll see if it behaves when I get home tonight. May need to shut it completely off when not in use until Sony fixes the issue.

Mine was fine all day yesterday but came home to play D3 during my lunch break and couldn't get it out of sleep mode. Pulled the power cable and it came back up okay after a system check. Ugh.

All will be forgotten when I am playing UC4 and drinking in the spendor of Nathen Drake and his next adventure....sigh...

I had the exact same issue, so now I turning it off between uses.

Infamous and Uncharted really seem to be the only good Exclusives so far that Sony has. It's a shame, they were amazing last generation.

I'm with you 100%. At this point, Uncharted and Bloodborne might be the only reasons I still have a PS4. As lame as this whole console generation might be, I'm holding out hope that those two titles will make me forget it all.

Locked up again. This time I held the power button for about a 15 count to restart rather than pulling the plug. Disabled rest mode timers and now shutting it off when I'm not playing until they fix the issue.

Same here - console repeatedly locks up in rest mode. Have to pull the AC power cord to get it back. Looks like full shutdowns until they fix it. It gets stuck doing something because the fans keep going, and it generates a lot of heat perpetually.

Bad update is bad.

I haven't been having any issues since the update. Sleep works fine. Mine is a Glacier White Destiny Model.
We did notice the difference in the audio of party chat the other night though, much improved over standard game chat.

Ive had no issues since the update, i havent heard my friends complain about it either.

Yar, won't put my PS4 to rest until Sony releases the update to correct the issue (which they've acknowledged to be working on according to C|net).

No issues here and haven't heard of any from friends either. Great update.

tons of people reporting issues = only people with issues are speaking up out of millions of buyers
it's always blown out of proportion

Rest mode almost screwed me. Turned on my PS4 only to find it wouldn't actually turn on.. had to do a hard reset and got lucky the database recovered. Needless to say stand by is turned off now for good.

This isn't blown out of proportion guys. The Evolve Alpha had to be delayed on the PS4 because of firmware 2.0 issues. Lots of people having Bluetooth connectivity issues as well. Its a pretty terrible update in terms of buggy stuff.

Microsoft hammers out updates with near zero issues like a champ. Sony should hire Microsoft software engineers because theirs are shit it seems.

Yar, it's pretty ugly. I get that it's a fairly substantial update for the PS4, but compared to what MS has been pushing out, there's a lot to be desired on the software side of things. Perhaps a partnership with Apple, Google, or somebody software oriented for their next games console would help them out.

I wonder if Sony's financial issues are also a big part of the problem with both the state the system launched at and it's lack of big updates. It would be interesting to find out what kind of resources Sony is giving to the folks working on updates and what kind of demands their bosses are putting on them.

I doubt it. PS4 is the most successful part of Sony right now. They should invest heavily in a much more mature software team but they don't seem interested.

Frankly people are being driven away (albeit slowly) to PC (sometimes Xbox One) because of the absolutely pathetic level of software engineering that is going into the PS4. It reaps of a stunted interface with the kind of hardware it has its just a mass of wasted potential.

Imagine if MS had PS4 hardware. It would just be the best of both worlds. Instead Sony would rather keep costs as low as possible even though they know better right now.

As a PS4 owner I'm pissed that Sony is as per usual slow as fuck and extremely incompetent when it comes to updates. I remember PS3 updates often bricking consoles. People refused to update for that very reason until it was deemed "safe". Looks like I'll be doing that from now on.

That PlayStation support thread about this standby issue is 43 pages now and their response is crap. I used standby with my vita and pstv all the time so its really annoying I fixed mine but most are saying it happens again so not gonna chance my all digital collection.

As a counterpoint, Share Play in the new update works amazing well. I played Driveclub on my friend's console and he played Dust on mine. No issues at all, input lag was barely noticeable.

Also Kinect voice recognition on the One stills works like shit in both households where I have friends with Kinect. MS doesn't seem to be doing anything to improve that.

You can cherry pick whatever you want for data, MS release more often, Sony releases bigger updates.

My PS4 just died. It won't power back on and even holding down the power button for a few seconds won't get it to come back. Can't get to safemode to rebuild the database. Think I'm screwed.

Unplug the power cord, hold down the power button (it will beep), reconnect power and see if it turns back on.

Bingo! That's what mine did too. Rebuild database and for the love of god don't use sleep mode till they fix it.

Mine has always done this "can't turn it on" bullshit after anyway power failure. I never had a lot of power failures, but this summer they were doing a lot of power line work in the area so they kept cutting power. Took me a while to figure out the PS4 was dead each time my oven clock was blinking 12:00. Shit like this makes me wish companies would keep putting power buttons on devices.

Yeah if you have power issues sleep mode definitely isn't for you.

Damn thanks Ocellaris, that worked. Took 2 tries but it worked and am up and running. Thanks a ton man.

I tried shareplay on an extremely solid fiber direct connection and it offers input latency , 720p resolution and 30 fps if your game is 60 fps.

See? I can do counterpoints to :D

The "point" is that Sony is dropping the ball. By the way my Kinect works wonderfully with my voice commands. Never have an issue with it. Besides even if it didn't push and hold the guide button and presto! You get the same access without saying a word.

From what I can tell only the Scottish have huge problems with Kinect. But I can understand why..

Curious, were those that had a problem here using Wi-Fi?

I don't care if my console gets abducted by aliens and then dropped back off at my house before I get home from work. Pushing the power button should turn on the console regardless of what happened to it. If I get the corrupt database message, I can deal with that. What I don't like is the console being dead and not responding to the power button press. No electronic device should ever lock up the way these PS4s can lock up.

Trust me I agree 100% I don't like having the fear of a console not waking up it should just start.

Is it funny I'm more confident in my Xbox one that's running beta software than my Sony console running release software that just ain't right
