Insomniac Games has released the first real gameplay footage for the upcoming Xbox One game, Sunset Overdrive. For those who don't remember, during last year's E3 event they showed off a cinematic trailer, but nothing more. So anyway, JoyStiq has an article along with the new video: Click Here.

Jet Grind Radio + Dead Rising + Crackdown = I'm In!

The Jet Radio games came to mind immediately. Looks pretty cool to me.

Well that about explains it...

We visited Insomniac HQ in Burbank, California to be the first media in the world to play Sunset Overdrive as the studio explained how it intends to put the fun back into shooters - the game brings to mind Tony Hawk, Jet Set Radio, Crazy Taxi, Prince Of Persia and the blue skies and bright colours of the Dreamcast era.

I think this was expected, but at least we have confirmation:

Sunset Overdrive will offer online co-op

Sunset Overdrive, the upcoming action title from Insomniac Games, will allow people to play cooperatively online, the studio revealed on Twitter last week.

"There is a co-op online mode we will reveal soon," said Insomniac on May 10, replying to a fan question about Sunset Overdrive's replay value. The studio added that it's planning "lots of updates" - presumably after the game launches — and that there's "tons of stuff to find / unlock" in the game.

While I'm mainly going to be focusing on Lords of the Fallen for the moment, I'm definitely grabbing this before year's end. I really like the look of it.

Looks fun from the little bit of gameplay I've seen. Guess I will be picking this up tomorrow.

Took a gander at the lowest current score on metacritic:
Sunset Overdrive has some excellent ideas, but its triumphs are sadly suffocated beneath ultra-repetitive mission design and unsatisfying enemy encounters.

Not entirely surprised, we used to call these types of games "renters".

Repetitive games are "renters" now? You may want to have a word with Diablo 3 and Destiny gamers.

repetitive games without leveling or loot (aka: the carrot) are bad games.*

*note: D3 and destiny aren't very good games either

I will probably get this game to try out. Always down for something new on either system!

Game looks like a blast to me, getting a ton of great reviews, most seem to be saying this it he xbox one's first "must have" game, and it's about damn time, both ps4/xbone been collecting dust.

Can't wait to dive into it tomorrow when I get it from amazon.

That just means it will be on PC a year later...

Theoretically it could, but depends on what kind of exclusive deal between microsoft and insomniac was made for this game.

Even though they own the ip and if microsoft actually let them i doubt it would happen mainly because insomniac's experience with pc is limited to a single facebook game.

Your opinions aren't very good either, but hey neither are mine probably; however, both D3 and Destiny have been excellent buys and I've more than got my moneys worth from them as well as a vast majority of my friends who play them.

It unlocked an hour and a half ago. Been enjoying it so far. Still getting used to the movement. The humor is pretty solid so far.

What is the bloody install time for this game? (Using disc).

Been installing 30 minutes, played the prologue, after that it says "game needs to finish installing" and it's been on there for 20 minutes now.

So 50 minutes so far.

Seriously, why so long? Even steam games that are 50+ gb take just a few minutes, 50 min-1hr long to install a game is absurd imo.

Only took me about 20 minutes to do the install last night (from disc), might just be how busy the servers are now.

The game is a blast, it does take a while to get used to the controls and I still have quite a few cases where I end up yelling at my screen because the wrong bar/target was grabbed. Sliding around blasting stuff with insane weapons is awesome though.

Are you just referring to getting used to sliding/grinding around levels, and doing things you don't often see in a lot of other video games? Or are the controls just funky?

The grinding/bouncing. I'm actually not too sure if I like it now. It could be that I just finished Shadow of Mordor right before starting Sunset Overdrive. I couldn't aim for shit while grinding and never had enough ammo. I'll go back to it again in a couple days and give it another try.

I've been playing it for a couple hours last night. The controls are tough to get the hang of. You have to remember to grind, platform, and shoot at the same time. It can be overwhelming for casual gamers.

Im an insomniac fanboy but i cant wrap my head around wanting this game. I dont understand how its getting all the great reviews because even the sites with perfect scores and 9/10s all complain about the repetitiveness of the title. Ill probably wait for it to drop on sale 6mths from now before picking it up.

Some games are just good regardless of repetitiveness. All games are repetitive to some extent. The game is getting good reviews for a reason.

This game is so repetitive i cant stand playing it. Why do i have to keep holding the controller, this is so lame!

Gold members are going to be able to download and play the full game, all day Saturday:

Sunset Overdrive free this Saturday

Xbox Live Gold members with an Xbox One will be able to play Sunset Overdrive for free all day Saturday, according to Microsoft's Major Nelson. Access to the free trial will begin at 12:01AM Eastern Time tonight. It is the "full game" and those who decide to purchase the game later can pick up right where they left off. We've confirmed this will also occur in Europe, but don't have clarification on timing as of posting.

Does anyone else feel like they're playing Jet Set Radio?

After seeing some of the videos of this game, I don't think I get it. At least similarish games like Crackdown, Dead Rising, and so on appeared to have a point. The gameplay appears schizophrenic in nature, but maybe that is the fun. What do you guys think of the graphics? Youtube videos generally don't do a game justice.

It's free to play right now. Give it a shot.

I'm glad they have a free 24 hr play period on this. I cannot get into this game. Awful controls. Played a couple of hours and just fumbled with it the entire time.

Microsoft saved me $50 as I was planning on picking this up.

That's how it was for me too. I've heard a lot of people say the same thing. Wombat from CAG stopped playing exactly where I stopped playing. Apparently he gave it another shot and ended up loving it. I haven't gone back yet and am skeptical but will be giving it another shot.
