Where does USB driver normally embedded in from laptop drivers?

Would it be usually w/i the Intel Chipset Installation Utility and Driver?

If so, this is screwed. As w/i the chipset, there is no chipset driver for USB for this pavilion g6 laptop. Eventhough I have download and run that Intel chipset driver.

This is very strange. 1st time I have seen this. I went to the old win 8 hard drive device mgr., it all shows Generic USB Hub, but I think w/ some laptop, 1 USB port is made by HP, the rest is made by Intel

In this case, 1 port that is functioning is on the right, the other 2 is the left and it's not working, as there is no driver.

Any suggestion?
 
USB is normally part of the chipset and hence the driver is included with the chipset drivers or for USB2 ports included with the OS.

The exception is machines with USB3 but either without a chipset that supports USB3 or with more USB3 ports than the chipset supports. These will have a seperate USB3 controller which will need a seperate driver. The fact that you have one port that works and two that don't strongly suggests to me that this is the case you are dealing with.

I am aware that USB 3 driver is separate. As there are only 2 to 3 OEM manufacturers who makes USB 3, and 1 of them re-brand under Intel's name.

However, this laptop, g6-2290 pavilion, does NOT have USB 3.0 ports. All 3 are USB 2.0 ports

This is what I don't understand and never seen before. All 3 ports are fully functioning if I install back that old hard drive w/ windows 8 in it.

But as soon as the Win 7 is installed in a new SSD (not that old win 8 hard disk), the USB port on the left stop working, whereas the port on the right still works fine.
