I'm thinking of ordering either an Eizo CX241 or a NEC272W. As I understand it both can be taken out of wide gamut mode. I'm sick of ordering cheaper displays and having to play the lottery. Most of what I do will be programming and system administration and some occasional gaming. Thoughts?

No comparison, the CX241 is glow free which is a must since wide gamut panels glow even more than the regular gamut panels. Sitting 3ft+ away from the NEC to avoid seeing glow is also an option :)

Thanks NCX! I'm running a GTX970 will this card cause any issues with a wide gamut display?

No, the gamut can be configured with the included Color Navigator 6.

Is it worth paying the extra $85 for the Easy Pix tool? They have it with just the Color Navigator and also with both Color Navigator and the Easy Pix tool.

Ordered the CX241 with the calibration tool, it will be here on Tuesday.

By calibration tool - do you mean you ordered the EasyPix model? Eizo EasyPix is just a re-branded Spyder4, which is inaccurate to begin with. I think it may offer hardware LUT calibration for Coloredge models, but by buying the extras you're pretty close to the CX271's price range.

Any reason you chose to buy the CX241 over the CX271? I'm kind of surprised to see you settle on 1920x1200 over 1440p.

As an added note: sorry the BL2710PT didn't work out for you :(

Thanks guys, I'm hoping this will be the perfect answer. The Easy Pix is supposedly the tool that comes with the CG series. It's $179 if you buy it separately but $85 if buy it with the display .

The CX271 is listed at about $350 more than the CX271 and they won't be available at most resellers until the middle of November. I actually like the 1920x1200 resolution better. My current HP monitor is about ready to die and has been in optimal shape for months, it's > 6 yrs old.
