It looks like what they say about porn being the first to adopt new technologies is still true. :cool:

Shuster is currently integrating two new technologies, Oculus Rift and Leap Motion, to create an immersive interactive environment within the VR world. The user is then transported into a 360-degree virtual world. Leap Motion, as explained to me by Shuster, is a camera affixed to the Rift that can add elements of the outside world into the VR world like your body—particularly your hands, thereby doing away with the need for a keyboard or mouse.

This is why any future invention of a STTNG style "Holodeck" would spell the end of the human race. We'd simply have sex with super hot (insert whatever you want here... figuratively and literally), and next thing you know the Sun turned into a red giant and Earth is uninhabitable.
 
People will still want and be able to have children, they just might be less inclined to do it the dirty ol' fashion way.

Anyways, that was "big" in 2001, but it was easy to imagine that in a VR setting.

Huh? I think you mean to say that this will help spread the positive influence Japan has had on tackling overpopulation.

Japan is one of the most overpopulated islands on the planet, and the planet as a whole simply cannot sustain unlimited exponential population growth while maintaining a quality of life we are used to today.

Maybe pron consumption will never be good enough? We keep trying things to make it more and more immersive and "real", but maybe it will never be satisfying?

Heck even in real life, most people consider 1-night stands, or brief sexual relationships to be very unfulfilling.

I'm not saying i won't give this a try. I'm saying we're chasing something that will never yield any meaningful satisfaction.
