Epic Games Distances Itself From Hatred

How many irresponsible parents will buy this game for their "little Timmy" and then blame the game for their kids doing something dumb afterward?
 
I don't see whats wrong with having something like this in the gaming media. I'm probably in the few, but it's not like you're really killing a kid if you do so in the game, or rape or torture.
I doubt anyone would get into such things from a game unless it's a kid without proper parenting or some one with mental issues.
 
Hell I'll play it depending on how much it costs.

Not much different, bad versus good or innocent. I played payday a couple time, was too much for me. :eek:

Every shitty parent that takes zero responsibility for raising their own children because it's too much work. It's not the game makers fault, it's not the movie producers fault, it's not tv's fault, it's really not even the game store's fault. It's just lazy parenting.
 
So yeah, I watched the trailer and... whoopdeedoo.

People lost their shit over mortal kombat, GTA 3, Postal, etc. There's nothing new here. Additionally, the trailer looks so boring most people probably wouldn't have cared about this game for more than 5 minutes if it weren't for the pointless "controversy" being stirred up.

It's 2014, and this game supposedly isn't out till 2015. Not all videogames are not meant for little billy so mom and dad can leave him at home in front of the TV all day. If adults want to play this stupid looking game, fine. If kids end up playing it because their dumb parents buy it for them, fine. Hell, give the game an AO rating even, the ESRB has that rating for a reason.
 
So like Manhunt, but you can kill regular, or non combatant pixel people too. I don't see the big deal. If you are not into that sort of game, don't buy it, and let the market decide it's fate.

I'm not arguing that there haven't been games with similar gameplay, what I am saying is the delivery and the message are crossing a line that needn't be crossed. It's glorifying the behavior of some of the most demented, psychotic people of the last couple decades.

This accelerates the "decline" x10, especially the blindly positive response it is getting from the under 25 group.

Not what i ment, i have no problem with unreal engine, its a great engine, epic themselves sold out to consoles, gears 2 and 3 no pc version for example.
 
Just shows how sensitive everyone is these days. It's a video game that has a messed up subject. Ok, there are also books that cover messed up things. No one is forcing you to play this, if it disgusts you then just move along.

I'm way over 25 and not sure if I give it a positive yet as it's not out. Might even agree on lines that don't need to be crossed, but in video games, there really aren't any. I see your point though I feel if you cannot distinguish between killing pixels verses killing animals and humans then it might be time for you to stop playing video games and seek some help.

Only the most ignorant of people couldn't tell the difference between the two. A rap song talking about selling drugs, killing rival gang members, and treating woman poorly does not compare to simulated psychopathic massacre. It encourages the behavior.

Another example of the decline of Western Civilization as our education system is obviously failing when you can't tell the difference.

I obviously can tell the difference. But the people most likely to commit such a crime often cannot. As in my previous comment, this does nothing but encourage the mentally ill. It glorifies it. The problem is that the young mentally ill aren't able to distinguish the difference or at very least find this "exciting".

The sad part is people actually think it makes them morally superior to look down on this game.

One of the greatest games ever, Deus Ex.

For example you could give a kid a candy bar for some information then kill him and take it back off his corpse... in game it seemed quite comical actually.

It's not but for some reason it has had for immunity to this sort of scrutiny for decades.


I think the interesting part of this is that the context in which you kill pixel people for points matters so much more then the mechanics themselves.

Gameplay looks identical to many other games out there even the violence or brutality is far from the worse I've seen. Change a few skins to green and brown no one would bat a eye at this.

Not interested anyways cause i know the physx implementation will run like ass. Maybe nvidia should package it with their cards :D

Really, all I see is the glorification of violence and criminal behavior. In that, they are very similar. Only the most ignorant of people would not be able to see that.

Oh, and I am not against either gangsta rap or this game provided the obligatory warnings about possibly objectionable content that so called parents will likely ignore are present.
 
Violence aside, the game looks good graphically. But I thought it was an FPS, guess it's a side scroll like game?

What's funny is that all they have to do to make this "acceptable" is swap for zombies. Blamo, game is now politically correct.
 
I think it's more of a birds eye view/top down game, kind of like diablo but modern times with guns.

And in this case, judging by the persona's monologue, appears to be a bitter, envious, obviously having the discernment of a cockroach, most likely smelly, probably working for minimum wage doing latrine work, because he couldn't care to do right by the opportunities given to him, and had his chick leave him for another guy.

I've played a lot of games, and I've terminated quite a few virtual innocent bystanders in GTA, but this game puts so much emphasis and detail on the act of killing itself, only a perverted mind could find cool.
This game in no way compares to the vast majority of games out there. Even the airport scene on COD:MF2 pales in comparison to this pile of crap.
In most games, out there the main character is to some degree a good guy - Nico Belic had a sense of integrity!
Clearly, this game will be a wet dream for Adam Lanza's groupies out there.

(And, I've never even linked any violent game directly or indirectly to any act of mass murder.)

What's next? Concentration camp manager? Child porn mogul 2015? I bet a lot of people are already salivating at that prospect!

No No Please... BAP.... i laughed at that... Was like watching the movie RAMPAGE, but i get to be the star. Sounds like it could be a lot of fun.... for about an hour... then you have done everything, and its a button mash... What are they doing about replayability? Do we get to shove C4 up someones ass and force them into a church then detonate it? Sound like some decent replayability right there....

I would like a white house level.... i think if everyone got the chance to kill obama in multiple ways, it would be a best seller. Add that, and i will pre-order it.

You will never see a white house level, the NSA will take care of that. Or at least the developer is not going to remain on US soil for much longer after releasing it :D
 
But running around killing people to capture the flag is okay. Its a game, supposed to be fun. Political correctness will do this country in.

Rap is a poor comparison IMHO. Death metal would be more accurate.

And a Cannibal Corpse of video games this might be if I have to bring a poster boy example. Horror movie inspired, absolutely disgusting in themes about mass murderers, torturers and psychopaths, sometimes made up stuff and sometimes something that happened for real in the past. Often it is just Postal-like zany br00tals for the sake of br00tals but not always and sometimes the lyrics do make me feel uncomfortable. And thats why I find it interesting, it IS scary and disgusting!

As a fan of extreme music and to some extent movies I understood the point of this game. Its merely horror where YOU are the monster, the worst one of all because its something that can be very real and not something from wild imaginations. Obviously controversy is a big part of the thing and judging from some of the posts here it seems to be very effective. :D

Now, that said I think this game is probably complete shit and the developers are just trying too hard to be grim and edgy to sell it on angsty teenagers...
