Guru3D posted a summary of Reddit chat with Ubi dev. It seems, that the producers of the console shit are now forcing devs to make PC games run on 30 FPS. I just hope the companies won't cave in and limit us to the lowly console world. Nvidia and Intel should really do something about it and counter the pressure. AMD won't do shit, because the more consoles sell, the better they are.

"The Game Architect said that they aim for 60 fps but due to "limitations", they have to settle for 30 fps in recent games. He then implied that console makers are pressuring them into doing the same thing on PC"

Well, sometimes it's not a matter of hardware specs, but certain coding that relies on frame rate lock to function properly.

I seriously doubt you'll see many PC releases with the framerate capped at 30fps. It would essentially kill stereoscopic 3D (not that many people likely use it anyway), but also largely negate high refresh rate displays.

Not that I'd buy anything from Ubi anyway, but I'd never buy another game capped at 30fps (Spore). Low frame rates in games tend to fatigue my eyes much quicker.

Just adding to the reasons I haven't felt like buying a AAA game at full price in over 3 years.

. AMD won't do shit, because the more consoles sell, the better they are.

TressFX, OpenCL, Mantle ring a bell ? AMD has done more to help PC gaming the last few years then Intel or Nvidia. It's because of Intel that games like Grid 2 had a graphics option that only Intel onboard crap could turn on even though they're bottom of the barrel junk. It's because of Nvidia that PhysX has become a propietary gimmick.

.ini tweaks FTW!

Seriously, when was the last time Sony or Micro$oft made a decent game? Nobody cares.

OH R-U-I-N. I finally understand this thread. Links are blocked at work. Also, I agree, I don't think this will have an impact on PC gaming.

30 fps is a big no for me. It's not cinematic, it's laggy and only serve to make my head spin.

Double post! Might as well just say it:

60 FPS and above start to show the (lack of) animation intricacies that convince the eye that something is 'real' versus something 'fake'. If the animation isn't top-notch and up to the 60FPS fidelity, it can actually make the game look LESS real. That said, I prefer 60FPS in anything interactive, especially twitch games like UT or F1.

This console generation is going to be much worse for PC gaming than the last one. This isn't a "we need 8 years to work out the console" situation like the PS3. The current consoles are running on PC-architecture and the games are already maxed out.

They found a way to throat shovel the console user : 2.35:1 ratio = less moaning from resolution bi#&$..

Lol it start with The Evil Within, then there's a ps4 coming with that ratio..

I seriously do not trust Sony or Microsoft anymore when it comes to PC gaming, its funny that Microsoft hates PC gamers as well since Windows is their platform and yet they don't seem to give a shit about their own platform which most likely made them what they are today, I don't really understand them.

As if I will buy a console, both Sony and Microsoft can GTFO, a PC can do so much more than a console.

I certainly wouldn't buy anything limited to 30 FPS, but fortunately Microsoft games are garbage as are most Sony games. Who cares? I don't play games from shitty companies like EA or Ubisoft, anyway. Too many decent/good games from smaller companies for me to bother spending my time on the BS.

PC Games and their requirements are going to get absolutely silly.

Mark my words and quote me on this, we are going to see an unnecessary giant boost in VRAM requirements because of the current-gen consoles and their unified RAM.

Shadows of Mordor
Watch_Dogs

It's only the beginning. And GPU manufacturer's are going to not give push back on this because they can sell the cards with a price premium for higher VRAM.
