WoW; 5th expansion Warlords of Draenor

Edit: Green Fire going away? That doesn't make sense, unless they're replacing it with another. Honestly, I find it unfortunate that they'd remove the Legendary quest line either etc... but I thought only the Legendary and Brawler's Guild would be going away, along with a handful of high end Medal Run rewards from Pandaria.

Yeah my bad meant the ability to get the title/achievement for it. Was also working on some of the other things going away over the weekend, just lumped it together.

just reactivated my ~2450 3's holy paladin for this patch... I went into run a dungeon last night after a 9 month break... everyone died... several times lol

I might be an aberration, but I miss the customisability some of the really old spec trees had. Atleast in pvp. In TBC they got a bit cookie cutter, especially for some classes, but pre-tbc warlock had a lot of flexibility and I had a lot of fun back in the day messing around with talent points.

SM/RUIN!!! SM/RUIN!!!! I melted peoples faces off with that build. I just got my ORIGINAL wow account back actually with my lvl 60 undead warlock in full tier 1 and a azuresong mageblade. Total heaven.

Got the last of the patching done this morning. You can watch the new cinematic, but can't connect to the server yet (as expected). I'm so excited about these changes, I could shit. But, I have a guys night planned already (Read: Whiskey, boobs, bad behavior in general) tonight.

Whiskey? On purpose? Fucked up. ;) Gives me one hell of a bout of heartburn.

I'm wanting to get back into it again with the expansion, people are already playing now and it's tough to not have the free time at the moment with a start-up and projects galore. :(

So.. I must say the new anti-aliasing is terrible. Their CMAA implementation leaves jaggies everywhere. Anyone know some nVidia overrides to improve the quality any?

Looks good to me. I have every option maxed out, cmaa enabled.

I freed up 5 32 slot bags. So liking the 2nd void storage tab, the reagent bank, and the toy box.

What's the 2nd void storage tab, reagent bank and toy box? lol

Also, did they get rid of justice and valor points?

Also x 2, what's up with the stats dropping extremely low???

Go do some reading on mmo-champion.com. Srsly.

Points are gone now, I haven't researched the replacement mechanics yet.

Stat squish means they reduced everything back to Burning Crusade levels.

So if you had 500k hp, you now have 70k.

The problem is they didn't test this correctly at sub 100 levels, so everything is totally out of whack from what I'm reading.

Whereas before you could fight 3+ mobs at your level while you were leveling up, now more than 1 can kill you quick.

I'll be resubbing this weekend, so we'll see what it's like then.

I don't know about that. I'm able to gather them up on my 536 warrior and kill 3+ right now, pretty easily.

Ruoh I was referencing the leveling experience.... Not endgame gear.

Ahh, that makes more sense. I think the stat squish great. A little disconcerting at first, but it should make dps/hps meters use fewer cpu cycles.

Too lazy to read through all the patch notes.

Then read the cliffnotes that the devs put in, it's literally a couple of sentences per major change. Otherwise you have a lot of surprises in your future.

The problem the stat squish is having is that low-level or not commonly engaged mobs still have a few random abilities that weren't squished properly, so certain abilities are still hitting as hard as they were. A lot of people are complaining this wasn't tested in the beta test, but really, who logs onto a test server and starts leveling through the zones?

I haven't done anything serious post-squish apart from the UBRS dungeon (which, as a pally healer, is just disconcerting enough that I now need to read up and refresh my knowledge--such as it is). So far, the only thing I've really noticed is that some of the Timeless Isle mobs are a bit easier for me now as a tank. I suppose I'll have to die a few times healing a Garrosh run or something...

In case there's people who are still becoming used to the new patch; make sure to re-gem your characters right away. My Rogue was previously primarily gemmed for +Agility, which I've found should be replaced with +Crit rating. Went from 33% crit chance to 41.5% just replacing gems - thus DPS increased by a fairly large margin.

Also, for healers, those costly spells aren't so bad anymore. Took me some getting used to spamming Flash Heal on my Priest now. Before I'd be out of mana quickly but now I can spam Flash Heal all day long.

I stopped playing a few months ago, still on the fence about coming back. I read the entire patch notes epic-uber-mega-mondo-gigantic post, wow. So much stuff changed, numbers flying everywhere.

Those who love to hardcore number crunch probably had to change their undies. :p

I'm lazy, and use AskMrRobot. It still looks wonky, so I'm not making changes until they get everything ironed out.

supposedly a big reason for the stat squish was due to the support of 32bit software not being able to count high enough. an example that was used was thats why garrosh having his health regenerate like twice for phase change, instead of doing a full 100% then he changes at so and so percent. I do think it was personally getting a bit crazy seeing my warlock critting 1.3million.. The big numbers look awesome, but its a bit slower for human brains to calculate/feel.

The new stat squish/SOO nerfs are hilarious.

My mythic guild killed heroic SCBF sub 1 minute. I think world record is 40 seconds lol.

Garrosh was like...3 minutes I think. xD

Some of the new DPS rotations are incredibly bland. I believe Arms warriors are the worst off, with not a single proc to watch for. 4 buttons, 1 of which is a 20 second CD, 1 is a 6 second CD, and 1 is a bleed that you apply every 16 seconds. The MoP rotation was so much more interesting with the procs and overpower stacks.

I hear frost mages and blood DK's aren't much better off in terms of rotation either.

I've not yet gotten a chance to play yet, but reading the patch notes it seems like there are a lot of good changes. The simplifications are really important an beneficial, likewise the stat squish. Warriors used to have too many buttons (for both DPS and Tanking) and a much higher difficulty to tank, especially in AOE (ie No consecrate/blood worms, or other sort of AOE "put it down and let it gather threat from all it touches AOE Tank Dot), so perhaps this is better.

Now to see about all the new mods... I wonder how many of them have been outmoded...

Logged in yesterday to check out my characters, haven't played the game in 16 months. When I left, I was a DK tank in the #2/3 Alliance guild on the server. Now its like...

Tried some PVP so I could refresh my memory and check out the new changes. Didn't work, I just got annihilated by people in 550 ilvl PVP gear :(

Pop those survival talents and just act like a rogue and do attacks based on low numbers. That'll give you survival against higher geared players. Its not a great damage burst spec but you would be surprised how many people fat finger PVP content unless its their arena rating.

I started up again , did this and somehow managed to be number one in a few AV's /facepalm

Same here. I left at lvl 80 in ilvl213 gear. Quested for a bit and the quest rewards were ilvl 272 greens..

Just resubscribed yesterday, getting the old team back together. We'll be playing Alliance on Sargeras (transferring guild bank from Horde on Illidan though), if anyone wants to join up for some 10 mans and eventually mythic.

In regards to the dog pic, that was basically me as well. Logged in, looked around a bit, got a headache, logged off with the decision to deal with this tomorrow. :p

Blizzard - Hunters are fine

Hotfix: 15% increase to nearly every ability

LOL

LOL that pic is perfect :p

I stopped playing back in the Spring, just got burned out of patch 5.4 SoO after 6 months, and no way was I going to keeping playing 5.4 for an additional 7 months

Fucking Blizzard and their 10 to 12 months with NOTHING new at all the final year of an expansion. You basically get 12 to 14 months out of an expansion, and then it's the long drought of ZERO new content for approx one year, until next expansion

Also I don't get why they removed some stats, then proceeded to create three new stats that many people aren't going to understand. Then they have 5% of secondary stats get applied to one of those three new "fun" stats, and where your 5% gets applied changes by spec and class, so people are still going to be confused as shit.

They removed expertise and hit because they were simply not fun at all. You'd have to reforge your entire set of gear every time you got a new piece to ensure you aren't going over the cap. There was also the issue of tanks having to choose to either cap their hit/expertise or focus purely on mitigation, which not only feels terrible; it makes your resource generation unreliable. They basically were there to remove a penalty as opposed to make your numbers bigger, which is a harder concept to grasp.

The new 'fancy' stats will always provide a positive benefit, even if you don't fully understand them. Hit going from the best stat to completely worthless is much tougher on a player that doesn't understand the system.

Okay so I just completed all (I think) quests in Hyjal (defeated Ragnaros) and I went from 80 to 84. Each mob took on average 10 seconds to down. Didn't keep track of how long I played but it was very little actual play time.

Is it just me or is it now seriosly ezmode to get to 90?? Some tweak Blizz did to get as many people as possible ready for the new expansion?

Good news for me, as I now have to level my 85 alliance to play him instead of my horde. I'm figuring I could hit 90 in a day then this weekend, or? Anyone have any idea how long 85-90 takes nowadays?

Not too long. Few days to a week I suppose? Depends on how long a game session is for you. Felt like a very short time I spent going from 85 to 90.

Even with the updates to increase leveling speed for the pre-expansion patch, it's still a few days?

Edit: found this thread over on the forums: http://us.battle.net/wow/en/forum/topic/14926653081

Looks like it could be done in a day or so if you just quest. I'm assuming this is for the sake of getting people to 90 for the expansion.
