Hi,
I'm using a 5930K at 4.2GHz 1.298V.

When I run syntethics like AIDA only FPU or prime my CPU never goes over 82c on the hottest core.
If I run prime for a while and than I reboot, bios beeps a lot and than says CPU overtemperature.

What does it means? Why it says nothing when I'm on windows and the synthetics works without problem and than when I reboot bios give me the overtemperature error?

Thanks.

Have you checked to see if there is a CPU temp warning in the bios?

There is only the CPU over temperature error that happen on a reboot after prime.
Once the error is given, if I press F1 as suggested I enter the BIOS and the temperature are completely normal.

Is your BIOS up to date?

Have you tried the CMOS clearing jumper?

Check on the BIOS update, but also reseat your water block, sometimes if you don't have equal pressure on the block you can get random temperature spikes that could be sending you over the motherboard temp threshold.

bios is the latest and when I mounted the heatsink I used caution to use equal pressure on all screws

is seems that the error occurs after a 3dmark.
if I run asus real bench or occt it doesn't occur.

can this could mean something?

running stress test like realbench for hours make the hottest core go up to 74c (realtemp gt says this)
74c no problem, no cpu throttle.

the problem starts if I restart the computer as soon as I stop a syntethics.
if I enter the bios with the CPU at 50c, I get a CPU Overtemperature error press F1.

If after the stress test I leave the pc refreshing in idle and than I enter the bios I see no cpu over temperature error.
This makes me think that the CPU Power Thermal Control set to 120 refers to 120f.

Am I wrong?
Why if the hottest core is 74c bios gives me the "CPU overtemperature error" and why if I leave the PC in idle for a while after stress test and than I enter the bios
I don't have this error?

Thanks!
