See that's the irony to all this. It's been pretty much common knowledge that gaming journalism has been consistently rigged all to hell for a long time now. I don't THINK anyone is claiming to be shocked here, or if they are, they've been asleep a long time. I think it's less shock and more stirring up the hive particularly well this time.

My understanding is the spark triggering all this is the whole Zoe Quinn affair with sleeping around with big names in the game journalism world. So yeah, the grievances against the industry are legitimate, even though the catalyst is kind of retarded?

Journalism, TRUE journalism is dead. We live in a second age of yellow journalism, and unfortunately, thanks to the internet we all know and love, there is no coming back from this one.

I think it has less to do with shock that they're corrupt and more to do with the shock that they are viewed with such contempt by those whose success they generate.
 
Why does it matter? "The gaming journalist is over." The sooner the devs and publishers figure that out, the sooner these guys and gals go back to being what they really are, bloggers with day jobs.

Glad [H] does not really do gaming reviews past how they perform on various hardware. Well, they do let us know when a game pisses them off, but that is hardly a review. :)

When kindly asked why he suddenly no longer demanded 1080p60 from what now are current-generation consoles Adam Sessler raged and called gamers worse than chemical weapons dealers. Then "his wife" logged onto his twitter account to say that he got sad.

And another waste of bits and bandwidth called gamers dead, murderers, rapists, pedophiles and dead. Then people wondered why Intel who wants to advertise to gamers pulled their advertising from their site.

When [enter piece of game fictional story here] had [female character not perfect, not acting prefect, not being treated 100% perfectly] people raged about that and attacked the developer and writer and everybody associated with it and they considered that fine, while 50 shades and similar pieces of other fiction are free to describe sexual acts with women of the kind that send them to the hospital.

And then the Far Cry 4 cover that all of those people attacked and called racist.. it's an asian man doing mean things to another asian man, what's racist? The one on top is paler?

Right now we are digital people who happen to be living in a digital Palestine and these journalists have decleared themselves to be the ones rolling in with tanks smashing homes and innocents, because a few trolls that shot rockets from our land, trolls that we cannot and will never be able to take care of.

You have to be pretty special to support that campaign instead of the one about growing a pair and stopping taking every single piece of criticism no matter how legit as seriously as if it was an attack on your life and complete existence and then writing a blog about it.

And game bloggers wonder why so many non bloggers see them all as a bunch of self hyping douche bags. Yes the women and men of the game blogging world are both douche bags.

Can this be the new "Godwins law?" Think of the irony! As an online discussion grows longer, the probability of a comparison involving Israel or Palestinians approaches 1.
