Shadows of Mordor

Ok, for the love of God, whats the trick to get intel out of a target with a green icon???

I've killed about 5 of them now trying to get info and I cant seem to find the correct situation/ability to use.

I did find some intel on a table which was nice though..... and on one corpse....

I just gave up on the game.

...

I only have 7 or 8 captains I haven't killed and those are now either veteran or higher because they have powered up so many times from killing me.

Up until this point I was having fun, but it just seems like my difficulty went from 1 to 100 in a single move.

If you've got some open captain slots, just let time pass and those will fill in with fresh, lower level captains.

Grab them (L Control) then (Spacebar) to Interrogate.

Or RB then A if you're using a controller.

you have to hold it down for the grab, caused me some trouble too

Thanks!

Finally found a lone orc informant standing around and snuck up and got to try it. Messed it up at first but then got lock on and the info.

Is it possible to even do that move when they are actively fighting you? Assuming you can kill everything else but them.

Yes, for normal orcs/uruks you can grab them when they are standing, etc.

Captains however may not be grabbed that easily, usually you can only grab them when their health bar turns "green" before you can grab them.

Ok, back to the easier areas then to practice a bit.

Thanks!

Spent the last hour doing all the red events that popped up on the map including killing 3 revenge targets who had killed other players. One of them was level 20 and I still kicked his ass. Out of red things to do now, so will probably go back to the main quest (only done 2 steps) or back to working on the weapon upgrade quests. I will definitely 100% this game as I just love orc fights.

I'm running a 680 2GB with High textures and 1080p, no performance penalty as far as I can tell. Fps is 60 in big fights, 75+ running around, momentary dip to 45 when hitting 25 orcs with an explosion.

did you download the HD texture pack?

I just gave up on the game. I understand what everyone is saying, but this isn't possible in the quest in my game. I have to challenge Mogg on a platform so I can't see anyone running for the alarm. It doesn't matter that I clear the platform before he jumps down since when he jumps down so do 4 other shield guys. At which point immediately people start climbing the ladders and I can barely move on the platform. If I try to jump off the platform it says abandoning area.

I shot down the meat to attract the caragor but they kill it in three hits at which point his health resets. Combine that with the fact I don't see the shield counters until after they hit it makes it impossible for me. The same thing happens with the caragor attacks. The dodge counter only pops up after they hit me.

If I remember correctly there are a few Grog barrels near you can explode when the Warchief comes to get rid of some of the help.

Otherwise do stealth ledge kill to get rid of all the normal mobs before the fight starts.

To get the intel you have to interrogate them. If you're using an xbox 360 controller its the right shoulder button. What you have to do is kill everyone but the intel guy or they will attack you and you won't be able to interrogate them.

Wow really? After destiny the last thing i need is another repetitive quest. Guess ill wait for the price to drop.

I didn't list all the different quests there, I think there are about 4 more types, and collectable objectives, which does vary. SO take what I said, with a grain of salt. Think of it like a GTA or Saints Row Game, with quirky side stuff to do. This game incorporates it better into the game's story though.

I never played Destiny, but it's not like what I've heard of it, where you go through the exact same missions to grind.

As for getting Intel guys to talk, you don't have to kill everyone else but it makes it much easier if you do. You need a couple of seconds to get the intel out of them. So if you can knock the other guys down far away enough, it can be enough.

You can try this (never tried it myself) sneak behind the group and attract him so that he separates and then interrogate him. It sounds like it should work.

Hah, I get what you're saying. I had a boss, Lvl 20 with Gang Leader, and Immune to Finishers, stealth, range, and monster hunter. Then add deadly (which at lvl 20, is almost an instant kill if you have only 1 life upgrade) and no second chance on top of that and a few other things. He had a "weakness" but I can't for the life of me remember what it was.

The guy literally killed me like 5 or 6 times before I killed him.

But that boss, he's the one you have to kill the berserkers or whatever then he appears right? There is a ledge on the side of the platform, I just climbed up that and went out of sight. Then stealth killed his minions.

I love the stealth killing, it's so forgiving. You can almost rush someone up front and stab them. A stealth kill give 40-60xp/kill, getting in an open fight will get you maybe 15xp/kill on average (I'm early, guess it might change).

On the downside I did not have a good time controlling this with the M+K. Not sure if there's accelleration or if it was a framerate problem, but it didn't feel one-to-one.

Controller works fine /except/ for using the bow where the mouse was superior. Ugh.

After playing the game for a few hours, one thing that strikes me is how consistently dark it is, in terms of mood. I like the game a lot, but wouldn't mind if Talion had a humorous NPC sidekick, a hobbit or something... think Leonardo in the AC series. I realize it's a different kind of game, but maybe worth noting for those that haven't played yet.

Also, while there is exploration to be done via sidequests for artifacts and so on,it doesn't feel like you really get a break from the action to pursue them (like in AC, or Tomb Raider). So far, it seems like exploration involves constantly running from orcs, and hiding long enough to spend a precious few seconds in wraith mode trying to locate the artifact or markings on the wall :)

And the environment definitely feels bleak, to match the game. I don't find the surroundings as engaging as the AC series, or Tomb Raider, or say Sleeping Dogs. For example, the towers you climb to reforge are pretty generic compared to the architecture in AC.

It's a very cool game, for sure. Great combat system, and a nice tree of ability and attribute upgrades that it feels like you have to earn, more sophisticated than AC or Tomb Raider, but not so cumbersome or overwhelming that you have to spend too much time planning its use.

13 hours of gameplay and I've done all of 3 of the main storyline missions. This game really is just hitting it right for me on a lot of levels.

So if I get another 780 ti, my VRAM won't equal 6gb, correct?

So if I run SLI, I still won't be able to run this game in Ultra @ 1440p?

Correct.

You can run it. You'll just get a bit of occasional hitching when it swaps textures.

GPU power definitely isn't the limitation in this game unless you're shooting for better than 60 fps.

Just picked this up. I'll check it out once it downloads...looks like it'll be a blast!

Ghuls are really annoying. At least in the sword mission that requires you to deal with them and the big Ghul. Tried doing that then got ambushed by a captain. The captain ran away, then when he was fully healed he came back. Would have been fine if not for the poison spitting fuckers getting me too much as I tried to get to the, while avoiding the 20 other Ghuls, the boss, and the captain. Ugh. I think I'm going to go on a captain killing spree next time I play and get rid of every single one of them. Even though one guy is now like level 15 due to surviving battles with me and various events.

There is a way to watch again the tutorial in the main menu. It's annexe in french, push the arrow to the right until you find the tutorial.

Easy:

a) GRAB

While grabbing:

b) Dominate.

Then, once you have dominated (you can't be hit while the animation plays, or you will let go the target)

c) Choose your option. Initially you will only have "death" or "gain intel". But, later on, you have other options.

PS: for me GRAB is on CTRL, and dominate (while grabbing) is on SPACE. Then another menu opens that tells you the button for intel.

When do you get dominate???

I have already taken out 4 of 5 warchiefs and still don't have it....

Just lost two hours to it. I'm having to get used to playing with a controller, but it's enjoyable none the less. The graphics in this game are stunning. The only oddity is when it's raining, and the lightening flashes, it creates a vibrant rainbow effect.

Yeh, fuck me. I died a couple times so the captains just leveled up like crazy. I needed to kill some lower level guys so I waited for them to repopulate. I get intel on em, go find em, try to single em out. Half way through killing them and randomly one of the big captains comes and destroys me. What the fuck. I was loving this game but now I just have to run from every single fight, and they keep getting stronger. Fuck that. Don't have time for that bullshit.

I played like 30 min last night when I got home at 6am drunk. Everything on Ultra it runs without any noticeable slowdowns. I don't get what all you guys are going bonkers about with the benchmarks. I did turn DoF off. I hate that effect.

I've got a [email protected], 16bg ram, 7950 at stock speeds. The game looks amazing.

SLI works without a hack/mod. Simply add the game's executable in the Manage 3D Settings area of the NVIDIA control panel and change the SLI setting to Force Alternate Frame Rendering 2.

The only problem with that is the GPU usage drops a bunch causing FPS drops, one second your at 95% usage then 50's

It's all about making the game unfair for them. If another one shows up just run away and hide in the grass (don't go too far) and then lure one away from everything else (or just kill everything else). You have to use all your tools with a lot of them, some of the captains/warchiefs are weak to arrows, so you have to pop them in the head a bunch or use the shadow arrow thing to ninja hit them. Some are weak to combat finishers so you just have to hit them with the stun and build your combo till you can execute and rinse and repeat.

At the earlier levels it's easier to try to find something they're scared of like fire or carabors. Use that fear and pin them with an arrow while they run (or just chase them down) and shank the crap out of them. Shoot the cages to let caragor out or the meat hanging to attract 3 of the things. Drop the flies on top of bases to clear them out. If the fight doesn't seem unfair for your enemy you have to work to make it so.

The problem with the Ghul is you can't block. But most of the time I have encounter them, they was easy to beat even in large number. Just one mission was hard. Just push left mouse like mad in all direction, it's what I did and it work well.

Btw, wait to see their boss!
