Just called in and cancelled my order. The Rep on the phone admitted they were out of stock and he didn't know when they would be getting more. Their page showed as in stock for 4+ hours after I placed my order. Who knows how many others are in the same boat.

First and last time I'll be doing business with TigerDirect.

Apparently they shipped mine directly from the dropshipper, but I had gotten overnight shipping. They said it would take 3-5 days to ship from the dropshipper. I threatened to cancel my order so they refunded my shipping. It still took about 5 days to get to me.

I cancelled my Directron order for the two Zotac 970s.. so two more should be available there when they get them. It's not the card I wanted really, a great deal, but my 770s are fine for now while I wait to get the 970 I really want.. Something that'll do 1500 core and hold that without throttling back and with dual DVI.. probably the MSI or Gigabyte.

My conversation with TD regarding my x2 order placed on 25th. Bah I wish newegg had them.....but they should be here soon. At least they have shipped I suppose.

TD CS: Hello and thanks for contacting us today, please hold on while I get that information for you.

TD CS: Thank you for waiting.

TD CS: This is the shipping address for this order:

TD CS:#####################, CA

ME: yes that is correct

TD CS: Upon checking the tracking number, the item is currently on it's way to our main warehouse coming from one of our drop-shipper/ supplier.

TD CS: A new tracking number will be provided once it ships out from our warehouse.

ME: but the ups tracker states it is going to Naperville Illinois

ME: is this normal?

TD CS: Yes, it is on it's way to our main warehouse in Naperville, Il. That tracking number is from our drop-shipper/ supplier going to us. You will receive another one from our warehouse.

It seems the policy is to get the orders and then ship as they come in. Supply & demand.
When did you have this chat? It looks basically like the same chat I had this past Monday. I did chat again today and they told me my updated tracking number that is suppose to be the one that actually delivers to my home.

Had the chat on Monday also when I noticed the delivery address wasn't my own. I assumed it would ship from their 3rd party to me, but it was actually to their warehouse first, then me.

This is bs imho. When you order from Newegg and Amazon it ships from one of their warehouses to your place. If your card has been charged it needs to be shipped that day.

The cards were actually shipped the next day. It just seems to be making a stop over to them first in the distribution chain from their wholesaler. It sucks, but at least they're mine and already on their way. But yeah, Newegg/Amazon/Fry's Electronics are better for me.

I'm giving them until the end of the day to provide me with my 2nd tracking number before I ruffle some feathers.

UPDATE: Just got informed that I will have it in the next 24-48 hours. That falls within their 3-5 business day standard shipping window.

I'm guessing you're on the same boat as me. My card was shipped out last night so hopefully yours is already shipped or going to be shipped today.

I'm about to get ornery with Directron. Its been 3 days and still no ship confirmation. It's doubtful I'll ever do business with them again.

Ordered the ASUS 980 from Amazon. Shows as "In stock but may require and extra 1-2 days to process". Tired of looking at this point and will just wait it out.

Yeah just ordered one too. Great thing about Amazon is they dont charge until they ship so if something pops up in the meantime I can just cancel it. I dont know why they allow all of those crooked third party sellers as it makes it a pain in the ass to find a proper product and price sometimes.

All these companies are pulling some nonsense. I got a call from Directron that I need to verify my address and credit card information. The thing is that I selected Paypal at checkout and used a confirmed address on the order. They just send me some .PDF file that I can't edit so I need to fill it out manually plus supply a picture ID and FAX it over to them... FAX?!?! Who uses that garbage anymore?

That's pretty messed up

Insurance companies... particularly in the health industry. It's a PITA.

You and me both. This guy "Jose" that keeps calling me and making excuses as to why they haven't shipped the cards out sounds like a teenager. Directron is definitely off my future e-retailer list.

Amazon had the Zotac in stock so I ordered from there and will be sending Directron a cancellation email shortly. What a pain in the ass.

You will be putting a $550 GTX 980 in your sig pc? With that cpu even a 970 would not be fully utilized.

I placed my order on 9/26 with 2nd day shipping. I had a chat on 9/29, and they told me they were waiting for a shipment to arrive at their warehouse. I just did another chat today, and they told me this is a "drop ship", and it will take another 2~4 days to update the order status. Nowhere in the order confirmation says this is a "drop ship" order. I'm so upset.

Ordered my ASUS ref 980 from Newegg on Thursday with 3-day shipping, got it Monday. No problems!

Newegg bundles a $5 gift card with the Zotac 970s so you can't use the Visa Checkout discount. Bastards.

It appears the egg is using that tactic on any 9XX in stock as well as I intended to use that on the MSI 980 I just grabbed. From $579 to $521 would have been nice indeed….

Ordered an asus 980 from Directron day before yesterday, got a tracking number today. Will post an update if/when the card arrives.

I ordered one of those Ref Asus 980's yesterday from Directron. Just got shipping confirmation but they charged me the full amount without the 10% discount. I had selected the option to not ship if the 10% wasn't available so I gave them a call and they said they would refund the $54 to my Credit Card. I used UPS Ground.... we'll see how fast it gets here.

Yup, Directron is sending out tracking info now so keep an eye out. They are also sending 10% refunds for new customers. Finally some good news for a change.

Why would someone pay you 25 bucks more than what they can get the card brand new for?

See it in stock anywhere? And Shipping costs money
They have been in and out of stock but hey if someone is desperate or stupid enough to pay you that much then more power to you. Also linking your FS thread here is probably against the rules.

Well Paypal and Google Wallet takes a 3% cut, so that brings it $363.75, then shipping with insurance + signature would probably run around $10 if using USPS Priority Mail, so it's pretty close to the retail price.

That being said, this isn't a BNIB item but a used one (however short it may be), so it should at the very least go for below retail price. Though personally my rule is if I don't want to return to the original point of purchase to avoid a restocking fee, then I discount the price just a bit less than what the restocking fee would cost me, otherwise I might as well just return the item and eat the restocking.

But given the stock situation, I'm sure somebody will bite.

From the buyers's perspective its still 375 bucks so not sure what you would even mention the fees. I would just wait and buy a brand new unopened card for less money.

I was trying to see if there was any rationale behind the $375 price, and I think what I said makes good sense (from the seller's perspective anyway).

Depending on where you live taxes could easily make up the difference as well. Where I live sales tax is 9.25%, so a BNIB card would still cost a bit more. (but yes it's BNIB as opposed to used)

Damn that is an ugly card. Its that stubby pcb with cooler hanging off like on the 670.

fine by me, i like EVGA due to the fact that the cards are reference and come with a good warranty, you can remove the cooler attach a water block and the warranty is still good in their eyes, as long as you dont fry the card due to faulty cooling of course

yeah same here.. I told the dude "you have to be kidding me... print, fill out, and fax?". I actually filled it out with my name and then wrote paypal in all of the other spots, scanned it, emailed it back and then told them to cancel my order. lol. sigh.

I placed an order on amazon for 2x MSI 970 gamers and will just wait for that to be fulfilled... if they come in stock at the egg before that I'll just cancel the amazon order.. I'd be all over the 980 but I need to use DVI for my surround setup for now.... I guess 2x DVI + 1 HDMI works but I have read it can be problematic sometimes also.. I'd rather just stick to having all my displays on the same interface and my monitors only have DVI and HDMI. Maybe time to upgrade those too. haha

There is no such thing as a reference 970. I am guessing that is probably a reference 670 PCB?

Ok guys Im on the fence. I know the 970 is a great value but is the 980 worth the premium price? I'm not into maximizing fps at whatever cost but getting value for my money.

You've already answered your own question

I dont know what can be said that has not be shown in the dozens of highly detailed reviews. Everything you need to know is right there in front of you and if value is a concern then its a simple conclusion.

Buy once, buy right. If you're the type that will always be bothered by "what if I could have gone to ultra vs. high" on some future game, get the 980. If value is seriously your main concern, 970 it is hands down.
