Windows 9 live event...

Starts in about 10 minutes. Should show some interesting stuff on Windows 9 (Threshold, Windows, Windows X, whatever).

Can't wait to see how Microsoft plans to pull the RT tree into the main branch!

"Our new Windows must be built from the group up for a mobile first cloud first world.". That will piss a lot of people off... :/

New name - Windows One....

Can't say I'm surprised... I wonder if we'll get Windows One.01? :) Ooh. Nope. Windows 10. Ok....

As long as its not subscription based like Office, I'll probably pick this one up.

Don't want that duality. Different environment. Users with PC's with mice and keyboards to have that familiar UI.

Seems that they are listening to those that were complaining. Of course, there were those that said that stuff didn't exist and we were using it wrong. Apparently, it really was an issue, and Microsoft is fixing it! :D

Of course, then they validate some things others have said - "Presents a problem for two-in-one convertible devices, but I'll talk about that later". Hybrids were the middle ground, and those were always the sweet spot when the others had issues.

As long as they offer both models like they do with office (Subscription and Licensed) It wouldn't bother me.

I like the new snapping abilities. Simple, yet a welcome change.

Command prompt stuff is simple, yet an excellent change.

What is this a slide show for privileged wankers for windows.....

Hell they used Windows ME and all that so it's non sequential.

Hope it's still free =P

That command prompt feature has bugged me for decades!... Glad they are thinking outside the box on ways to improve things!

Charm bar is still there.... Good for touch folks. Confusing for others. :)

Continuum....

Two in ones that changes modes based on input (touch vs. KB/M). Interesting. That's what I've been wanting. :)

Tomorrow technical preview and Windows Insider program.

Server builds coming later...

"We're inviting our enthusiastic fans to evaluate it with us. We know they're a vocal bunch."

You guys need to get in on this! ;)

They know... "A: If you look at Windows 8 users on touch devices, they have higher satisfaction than those on Windows 7 devices. Windows 7 users have higher satisfaction on mouse and keyboard devices than Windows 8."

:)

Q: Can you talk about the name? Seems weird going from Windows 8 to Windows 10.

A: This product, when you see the product in your fullness I think you'll agree with us that it's a more appropriate name.

lol

Q: Now it's Windows 10, will we see future versions named after big cats?

A: Probably not.

:D

So the OS is smart enough to detect when a keyboard is attached/removed and prompt the user to choose desktop/tablet mode accordingly? That is the obvious answer I've seen since the day Windows 8 was released. It's about freaking time, Microsoft!!!

Happily thinking outside their own box and thinking within someone else's.

Which is a good thing to me, actually.

It is obvious but it's technically challenging. The Continuum stuff looks like it will be the best answer yet to creating a solid hybrid UI.
