Gigabyte GeForce GTX 970 G1

yes its the same.. :D 8pin +6pin power connectors with samsung memory.. :3 oh gawd..

I don't know about Titan Black levels, waiting for Brent or [H] to get a review up and going soon with the 970/980 vs Titan and 780/Ti. I'm itching to upgrade but my dual 680 4GB is enough for 1080p resolution.

Justa note that the 970 does not have the 600w version of the wf3, thought this review says so. It has the sam fans, but a smaller sink with one less heat pump.

I'm looking at 2-3 of these... how well do you guys think they'll run placed aganist one another, due to my X58 boards slot positioning?

I'm using an X58A-UD3R and a Xeon X5650. My case is a Corsair 600T with the side mesh that is providing fresh air to the GPUs, but I can flip the fans to exhaust the hot air out. It has 4 AF120 fans attached.

considering how cool these seem to be running ,i cant imagine temps would get that high even in a SLI setup

Hi folks,

Can anyone provide some insight into why I can't see any Geforce GTX 970 with the Reference cooler (i.e. magnesium plating). It's supposed to be 329$ US for that design, yet the "cheaper" plastic coolers, are being sold for that and higher.

I realize we're still REALLY early in the release schedule, and there are some price premiums due to availability, but I'm seeing the "Reference" design pictured with cheap plastic cooler covers, whereas I'm seeing the GTX 980 with the Magnesium cover for their reference model.

It is available for oem's only. Evga might release one with a slight price premium down the line.

Ok, well that explains it.

By that logic, the MSRP of 329$ is supposed to be for the card WITH the magnesium cooler, correct?

Meaning, if a "budget" version, with a standard Reference Cooler (without the magnesium cover), SHOULD theoretically be cheaper than 329$ once initial purchasing frenzy dies down?

Like this example below

I have no idea. Maybe they price it at $329.99 with like a small mail in rebate.

Good to know, I plan to overclock them as high as I can. :D Get them close to performing like 980s, then the amount of coin I saved by going 970s over 980s I can buy a 3rd.

This is my card of choice with this generation! I picked up one of their WindForce 670s back when they first came out and it always performed flawlessly.

Can you please confirm if the 970 has the 600w version of the wf3?

The gigabyte GTX 970 does not include the 600W version, include a modified version with 4x6mm Direct contact heat pipe which offer the same cooling efficiency.. while the 980 uses the 600W with 5x8mm + 1x6mm heatpipes but with a bigger and heavier copper base not direct contact pipes..

this its the GTX 970 heatsink.

Looks like they stealth updated the review to remove those references. It does not have the 600w version, however it does have the same updated fans as the 600w version.

I'm still excited for the card, I think it will be excellent.

Thinking of going SLI with this card. From what I have read this is pretty much the best 970 card, with the MSI and STRIX following closley behind. Since this has three fans I assume this will be the best cooling option 970 as well?

Worth upgrading from a GTX 760 2GB you reckon? How much of a performance upgrade is GTX 970? It's the price/performance vs overclockability/good cooler design which attracts me. Well my GTX 760 is the Windforce 3X Rev2.0 gigabyte cooler which is no slouch either for this card.

between 40% to 80% upgrade in performance at stock settings.. so yes it worth a LOT..
