Nvidia 980/970 Availability Thread

if i plan to water cool in the future, should i just get a reference evga 970?

WTF is with all the moaning, these are not r9 290s.... read some reviews. Much less heat. Guru3d oced an acx quite well.

Sorry guys. Looks like Amazon is all sold out now.

Really glad I stayed glued to the computer all night hitting F5.

perhaps a stupid question but does evga's superclocked version have better binned chips?

Usually, thats where the premium goes. Usually you can get the vanilla cards to SC speeds quite easily. It seems the biggest difference is in the boost clocks.

So EVGA doesn't have a titan blower for the 970?

As far as I know it's the same situation as with the GTX 770. The Titan style blower on the 970 is not expected to be a mass produced model and may even only be limited to reviewers only.

Depending on the state, no tax was applied to my purchase in WA state. I went ahead and with the EVGA superclocked blower and the superclocked ACX card instead from EVGA (Cancelled my amazon.com order earlier). Better running the blower card on top and the ACX card on bottom in that configuration

Where's the ACX? What's better? Quick please

ACX isn't even available on EVGAs site yet. Right now if you want a 980 its stock blower or nothing. The page I linked is the Superclocked edition. Might as well for $20. 115MHz stock overclock.

My wife stole my GTX 680, so I ordered a GTX 970 SC from eVGA. No tax in my state, but I went cheap on the shipping so it'll be here next week.

Thanks, I'm jumping on the opportunity and getting a stock blower. I can always step up later to a 980ti if I'm unsatisfied I hope...

ACX will cool ur card better, at the cost of dumping heat back into the case though.

Thanks. I think I'll go for the traditional cooler. Seems like for multi-card setups in my experience stock-fan performed much better than those dual or tri fan setups I've used in the past. That's another way to look at it.

I'm tempted to cancel my EVGA ACX order and put in an order for the ASUS Strix model. I'm not in a huge hurry or anything, so I could wait. I wanted to go with the MSI Gaming, but I can't justify $30 more per card.

Decided to go with a single EVGA 980 SC reference. Potential SLI issues and having two open air coolers right next to each other is not worth the additional price/performance benefit. Also leaves open an option to step up to a 980Ti if that drops quickly, or pick up another 980 down the road to SLI.

Good luck everyone!

decided to go with a single 980 SC also from the egg. dont want to deal with tshooting SLI..... (gsync issues with SLI?)

EVGA GTX 970 ACX is preparing for shipment from Amazon now. Thanks to whoever originally figured out and the [H] member for posting the cheat!

I have no g-sync issues with my GTX680 SLI.

...It's weird that Newegg only has the EVGA GTX980 SC and not the vanilla listed.

Just cancelled my ACX 970s, and ordered 2 of the ASUS Strix 970s to be delivered whenever. Looking at the reviews, the cooler on the ASUS seems to be much better than the ACX.

i see. was this fixed with recent drivers? or did you not have any issues from the start?

anyone have a guess as to how much more time there is until the 970s are out of stock on evga?
