Holy hell that things whistle is the loudest thing I have ever heard less than 15 feet away from, kinda bone-shattering at the time O.O
My ears are tingling now just remembering it from this morning

100% crop from the above shot. The 6D continues to impress over a year and a half later.

Wow! I go away for a week and come back to such amazing pictures. I'm simply stunned by the talent shown.

This one really doesn't work for me. Why is the focus on the wood post and the thing on top? I like that the water is out of focus, but shouldn't the man be in focus?

Or am I missing something?

The Owakudani hot springs are famous in Japan for their hard-boiled eggs, that turn black from the sulfurous content of the water. "Kuro-tamago" literally translates to "black egg." Japanese superstition says that eating an egg will extend your life by seven years.

The worker that's out of focus behind is a worker who dips the eggs in a hot spring for tourists to eat. He's part of the story being told, but the focus is on the egg itself. Hope that helps.

Ah right. I didn't twig that it was an egg. Then you're quite right to have the worker out of focus. Perhaps this might have worked better in colour? Or is it an artefact of being on a small PC screen rather than a full-sized picture?
