Who's left crunching f@h?

When you can earn this currency by contributing to other teams, you will probably find a lot more interest. The team jumping is the biggest turn off and is not encouraged here. Keep us updated for when that time comes.

i most def will :) we are sending out how we envision the code to Stanford on Monday and i will follow up sometime next week with the results

We understand that people do not want to loss their spots and hard earned credits on their current team. We also do not wish to breakup these communities.

If you find a solution for this problem that would be great. Something I hoped CC had achieved. I understand that is difficult as there is no real API from F@H allow to hook in and donors will not share their passkey. So identity management is a problem to solve. Good luck :D

I still have it running on team [H] on my online dedicated server but I took it off my home systems, I'm currently running my battery backup system on thin ice right now so had to ease the load a bit. Well it's not that bad, ~400w/750w but still closer to the max than I like to be and it greatly reduced my run time with all systems at full tilt. When I upgrade my UPS system to a bigger multi kw 48v system then I might put F@H back.

My guess though is with bitcoin/altcoin mining DCing has probably went down a lot but people might get back to DC now that it's not worth mining anymore.

Hello, just found this forum, I am the Founder of FoldingCoin.

Welcome to the [H] and I hope you find success with your project!

Like others have mentioned, I find it hard to jump teams as I've been here for over a decade now, and looking at a stats page like folding.EOC and seeing ASFDAfdt345345sd#@$%#$%34 for a user name instead of "Agrikk" is kind of a bummer. I get that within team 226728 there's probably a metric and charts and all the rest of the goodies that we folders drool all over, but having a string for a name instead of a name kinda sets that group apart from everyone else that folds.

"Oh no! I'm about to get passed by 17vBohqAPj1tAtVahxqWELw5VZ3zUWrW81!" - said no one ever. :)

I still fold on one 2x l5520 machine. The rest have been converted to BOINC.

It is true, thats not the preferred method, (but ....W81 is me:) The biggest hurdle we have is verifying that someone is who they say they are, with our team we verify it by BTC address. One way (which this is jerry rigged way) we have discussed verifying a user is by doing something called "proof of idle" where the user tells us their FAH user name, shuts down their operation at a specific time (and tells us the time) then we know it was them. This obviuosly is not the preferred method. We are however writing a code which we will be sending to Stanford tomorrow on how it is possible to integrate FLDC right into FAH, hopefully they will be as receptive as we hope, they are at least willing to listen which is good

Finally a couple names I recognize. All these young whippersnappers with too much money for computer parts..

I have some random clients still running somewhere, I removed them from all my servers/pcs long ago though

it got too expensive and I found other hobbies more satisfying and less frustrating/dramatic

Same here. Way too much llama drama with Vijay and 7im. Wife started to get cranky about the electric bills, and due to medical problems at the time, I needed the money for medical costs.

I just popped in here to visit my old haunts. Doubt I will start Folding again. Just more for reminiscing's sake, really. :)

Well, if you get the bug, WCG has actually put out some real results in the last couple years. Take a look and let us know if you need any assistance. It is CPU only right now, but that could change from day to day.

Given that I long ago sold off all the old equipment, and am mainly running on this relatively weak laptop, I am not sure how much I could contribute, even if I wished to again. I have an old secondary system that has a fairly modern video card installed (don't game much, but wanted limited ability for my son to play), not sure that would be useful.

BOINC does well with pretty much all hardware. It just comes down to which project you want to support. Some projects use GPU's and some don't. GPUGrid is a very nice project, but they do not support AMD GPU's. They do however have both nVidia and CPU apps. Sometimes they even have work for ARM devices. You will find their sciences similar to FAH as well.

DC'ing was built on small contributions by many. You don't have to be the top producer to make the difference. But the choice to do so is up to you. We will welcome any and all contributions. :)
